The Shanty: Amazing Home on 'the Point' of Cherry Grove at Hog Inlet

Opening the door for the first time and seeing the kitchen and living room with the beautiful view was jaw dropping. The family really loved the place and the position on the inlet was perfect for a low tide walk to the ocean. Found plenty of Hermit Crabs along the shore line. Loved it!!

Me and my family stayed at this beach house over the weekend and it was amazing!The home was beautiful, check in was smooth, the host communicated well and in a timely manner, it was stocked with a lot of essentials so there wasn’t much we had to bring and much more!The pier was awesome and when it hit low tide you could walk from the pier to the beach. There were tide pools everywhere with little Star fish, crabs, and hermit crabs. Over all it was a pleasant experience. 10/10 would recommend!

Great location, great vacation home!! We had six adults ranging in ages 30-61 and two children ages 6 and 4. Lydia was easy to reach and responded immediately to all of our questions.

This is our 2nd stay at The Shanty and our favorite place to stay in Cherry Grove Beach. The house is perfectly decorated, clean, well stocked and Lydia makes you feel at home! We can’t wait to plan another stay.

We had the best time at The Shanty! This was our 2nd stay at this beautiful home. We will book next year’s trip at this home again. We found our home away from home and I seriously mean that. When we walked in the door we felt like we were home. Always clean and smells great! This place has everything you need as it is stocked with all things you will need to cook with and I love that cleaning supplies are there for me to keep the house clean during our stay. The owners are amazing and are always very responsive if I need them for anything. Also, the beach toys, chairs are there to use as we stay there. I can’t say enough how AMAZING THIS HOME IS!!!! Our stay at The Shanty in North Myrtle Beach was everything we hoped for. The house had all the comforts of home—cozy beds, a well-equipped kitchen, soft linens, and inviting living spaces that made relaxing easy. It’s beautifully decorated in vintage beach style with coastal colors and nostalgic details that give it a warm, classic feel.The views were stunning—sunrises over the inlet, salty breezes on the deck, and the sound of waves just a short stroll away. We loved how close the house was to both the inlet and the ocean. The inlet was perfect for peaceful beach walks and searching for shells, while the beach was just a few minutes' walk and ideal for long, sunny days in the sand.The owners went above and beyond by providing everything you could need for a beach day—chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and even a beach cart, which made our daily outings super easy and stress-free.The Shanty offers the perfect blend of comfort, charm, and convenience. Whether you’re traveling with family or just looking for a quiet escape, this beach house delivers an unforgettable stay. We can’t wait to return!

I never give reviews.....but this place deserves a review!!!! The Shanty was AMAZING! The location could not have been more perfect. My friends and I had an incredible time. Unfortunately storm Debby arrived during our weeks vacation. House is as described, very clean with great views. Plenty of room for our group of six adults. Owner was very responsive and communicated with us throughout the week regarding the storm. Plenty of games, puzzles, etc to keep us occupied as the beach was not an option. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

We have stayed at numerous places over the years, but this is our favorite and we have returned year after year. You cannot find a better view of the waterway leading into the ocean. Everything is clean and tastefully decorated, and the owner is quick to respond to any issues and enjoy to work with. I would give this place more than five stars if that was possible.

We had the best vacation ever! This place is so beautiful and by far the cleanest place I have ever rented for our family vacation. There was cleaning supplies for us to use as we stayed and that is such a helpful thing. The owner is amazing and was always available to answer questions I had. We will definitely stay here next year. Amazing views of the water and ocean. We have no complaints whatsoever. Thank you so much for trusting our family to stay in your home. ❤️

Communication with Lydia was excellent. The property was immaculately clean upon our arrival, which is a big deal for my wife. The property has a lot of character and is not a cookie cutter rental property. It was well laid out and accommodated our family of five quite sufficiently. The view of the inlet was exceptional. We are active and like to kayak, fish and bike. Overall, we loved our stay and the beauty of the property and area. I would recommend the property without reservations.
