The Pond House: cozy home with a mountain view perfect for a Catskills getaway

Stayed here with a small group of friends for New Years and we absolutely loved the house! We were looking for a chill getaway for the holiday and that is exactly what we got. The house came stocked with pretty much everything we needed from towels to kitchen wears and had plenty of games and things to do. The guys enjoyed the pool table downstairs and we all enjoyed the hot tub and the fireplace in the living room. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were cozy. Neil and Erin were great hosts and we hope to make it back out that way again!

We stayed at this property in October when our nephew got married at the Margaretville Mountain Inn. The proximity of the house to the venue was perfect. The house is well stocked and very comfortable. We enjoyed the deck, the beautiful Mountain View, the hot tub and the pool table. The host was very responsive and accommodating. The house would be an ideal spot for a winter getaway being so close to many ski resorts and in the summer to take advantage of the huge pond on the property.

The house is beautiful and spacious and the grounds are lovely. We enjoyed making a fire in the fireplace as well as in the fire pit outside. Neil and Erin were great at communicating and responsive to messages. The house was well stocked with everything you could need. I hope we have an opportunity to return and highly recommend.

A mixed bag, but the beauty of the grounds and home makes it a for sure recommend. Not the cleanest, but not the worst. No towels in downstairs bath (found some in dryer before seeing in upstairs bath). Had to clean a dirty grill, and there was unbagged trash, recycling, and gunk in outside bins. Should have a nearby property manager to check clean and handle situations like the storm door that the landscapers shattered into a million pieces so vacationers don't need to clean up. As I texted the owner about the glass, I also made him aware that not needed, but no welcome gift as stated. He very kindly called in a gift card which we used to buy delicious local coffee. Only a few (but cute) shops open weekdays. Our dog (and we) really enjoyed the wrap around fenced deck with beautiful view. If you don't get creeped out by swimming in a dark pond, you might do more than the quick, refreshing dip that I did (if jumping, go off end of dock, not by ladder). If you hose out the kayaks (bugs), you will do more than the quick lap around that I did. If you are adept at making a fire (or happen to locate the firestarters), you will be able to enjoy the firepit, unlike us. But the next (rainy) day I spotted the firestarters in a basket and made a great fire in the beautiful indoor fireplace. You need to turn up the hot tub temp well before getting in or it will be tepid like my first time. Next day was fabulous. Didn't use the pool table or gas fireplace in basement, but nice options.

Everything was great! The property was expansive and beautiful equipped with everything we needed for a great and relaxing weekend. The house was in great shape and had all we needed. I have no complaints and we plan to be back again!

The little added touches were very heartwarming. We were so comfortable during our stay we felt almost no need to leave the property and greatly enjoyed the hot tub, swimming in the pond, and playing games. The proximity to town was convenient but still offered plenty of secluded peace. Overall we loved our week at the house!

House is perfect for a family getaway. Pond was a ton of fun and kitchen was fully equipped for our meals. Hot tub under the stars was a great way to end the day. Will definitely return

House was nice enjoyed our stay .. the only issue we had the two upstairs bedrooms were hot with no ac’s..maybe being put in later .. overall enjoyed the house ..

The house had the best views - great Mountain views plus a pond. House was roomy and had everything we needed. Great hot tub and was close to several ski resorts. Lots of games and a pool table. Very easy check-in process and the hosts were extremely responsive and helpful with any requests.

My family spent two August weeks staying at Neil's property. Just days beforehand, a huge storm hit the area, causing some disruption. Neil proactively communicated with me while everything got fixed. The house is very nice but the pond and surrounding area are the reasons to stay here. The property's pond is beautiful, serene, and wonderful to swim in. Every night we watched the fog roll into the valley below and every morning we watched it burn off. We hiked, swam, and kayaked and ate at many great restaurants. Definitely recommend.

We just spent 6 nights at this beautiful Catskills property. The views were magnificent and we loved hanging out on the deck just listening to the crickets, frogs and birds and to see the occasional deer pass by. We spent time everyday on the pond in the provided kayaks which was such a treat and one of our favorite things to do. The property is so private and peaceful- it was exactly what we wanted. The house itself was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. We loved playing pool with our kids and loved a dip in the hot tub. Thank you Neil and Erin for sharing your stunning home with us and allowing us to make wonderful family memories! You are excellent hosts and we would love to return in the future!

This is the third time we’ve stayed here and each time it’s been just fantastic.The house is located in an oasis of peace.All you can hear is sound of birds and frogs.There is also private pond where we and our dog can cool off.Our dog loves this place.he can run around property,play,swim. ITS ONE OF THE FEW PLACES WHERE DOGS ARE WELCOME AND WHERE THEY FEEL AT EASY. House is very comfortable we found everything we needed.The owners are very friendly and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND ! It was great!

We had a terrific three night stay. We enjoyed the fully-stocked kitchen, large deck, grill, gorgeous field, and secluded location. We swam in the pond and soaked in the hot tub and enjoyed the pool table. Owner communicated in advance about furniture being removed due to a flood in the basement, which meant we couldn't enjoy the basement lounge area, but we were still able to use the pool table which was important for my tween son! The pond was wonderful for swimming & sunning and our dog was in heaven, running free through the field, swimming with us, and sunning on the dock. Beds were comfortable and everything clean & convenient! Nice bathroom towels, and plenty of outdoor towels provided, too. We couldn't get outdoor shower working correctly but that didn't detract from our enjoyment of the property much at all. Gorgeous view of the mountain range from the deck.
