Harrodsburg, Kentucky
Welcome to The River House at The Village at Palisades! Relax or explore with family and friends at this peaceful home away from the busy, inner-city life, but only a short 25-minute drive to Lexington. Separate living spaces for adults and children if desired. Games are provided in the game room for hours of fun! The Village at Palisades has one of the only boat ramps that provide convenient access to the Kentucky River for fishing, Kayaking, (ect.) and is only open for our guests.
Our extended family stayed here for 6 days. The place is nicely decorated and in good shape. The downstairs was great for the young adults and the older adults took the upstairs. We enjoyed the patio and the fire ring. Only bummer was the boat ramp had mud from the river and we weren’t able to launch our boat there, but it still worked for our kayaks. We took the boat to the lake launch about 20 minutes away. Recommend!
The good: The property is GREAT! As is the house. We LOVED being able to walk down to the river and fish. The bad: The lack of BASIC amenities was nothing short of ridiculous. We rented 4 Days/ 3 Nights for 5 people. There was not a single spare trash bag for ANY of the cans. No spare roll of paper towel. 1 spare roll of toilet paper per bathroom. No dish soap. No dishwasher detergent or laundry detergent. No BASIC spices or even butter. All items that I've had available at other short term rentals. Had i known i could have brought these items from home, to avoid an unnecessary 20-30min drive one way to town. The ugly: But more frustrating than that, a cleaning fee is totally understandable..... no problem. But when im paying a cleaning fee, I find it incredibly tacky at best to include doing the laundry before I leave. If i knew then what i know now, I'd still stay there.... I'd just come more prepared for the lack of attention to detail in an otherwise beautiful place to stay.
Rented this 2-story house for one week as base for 7 golfers with room to spare. Within 30 minutes of South Lexington area courses. Modern kitchen and roomy living room. Nice, quiet 2-story deck overlooking KY River. Would not recommend to anyone who struggles with steps.
This property was wonderful for 5 adults and two children. We stayed while visiting with family in the area over Christmas and would love to come back in the summer. Super property and great stay
We stayed for Breeders Cup/Keeneland. Is an easy enough drive 20 or so minutes away until the last few miles near that house that are very curvy 25 mph roads...finding in the dark the first night was a little challenging. The house is cozy. Especially enjoyed the upstairs living room/kitchen set up. Upstairs bedrooms are nice- only downside is there's some noise from traffic on the road. Teen/twenty-something slept downstairs in the bunk room that easily could sleep 8+ with it's own bathroom. Downside there is has a little dampness- is above ground but felt like a basement with dehumidifier. The deck is wonderful and if this were summer I could see using fire pit and outdoor charcoal grill (byo) and having a fun time on the riverbank. Stars are very clear! We didn't make it to the small town past the house, but did pick up food on US 68 (Brick Oven pizza was good) and there are several restaurants and a Kroger within 15 min. Overall a fun stay- especially enjoyed the games provided. A third bathroom would be ideal. Overall pics reflect the property well. Word of caution that the location is not on a main road/not in a neighborhood so no street lights at night and you need a cautious, capable driver especially at night.
The property was very nice and communication with summer was excellent, she was most helpful to our needs, The only issue was the road to the property was extremely curved and bad at night.
Property was situated on a picturesque lot along the river. House was clean and appointed with modern appliances. Great place for a relaxing day away from it all, or for lounging after a day of seeing the sights.
I have no complaints.
Had a low key bachelor party and this pr9perty was a great fit if you want a relaxing experience with friends and family
We enjoyed our stay very much. The home was lovely and quaint and even prettier than the pictures. It has modern amenities, nice decor, and is beautifully situated by the river. We were able to prepare meals in the kitchen and using the charcoal grill outside. The home was spacious enough for 9 of us (2 families). The children ranging in ages from 9-22 shared the bunk room and one slept in the “game room” on the day bed which was comfortable. Each set of parents had separate bed rooms. One bathroom is in the bunk room and one is on the second floor by the other two bedrooms. The washer/dryer came in handy after a messy day of hiking/kayaking. There is a rental service nearby and you will see a sign for it when you drive up. We would have liked to enjoy the outdoor area more but we were staying there over Independence Day weekend and there were too many bugs in the dusk/evening hours for it to be pleasant. It was only a 20 minute drive to any local shopping or to downtown Lexington and an hour to the Ark Encounter which was the primary destination for our trip. Overall it was a fantastic stay and if we return to the area we would love to stay there again!
This was a beautiful and fantastically appointed house in a great spot. It’s five minutes away from the really cute town of Wilmore. Comfortable for a crowd.
Had a great time and would stay again
We stayed here while in town for the LRK3DE. It was the perfect venue! We enjoyed the out of town aspect of the property and ate dinner on the covered porch both nights. We are hoping to book it for next year too!
