Hampton, Virginia
Stay at our cool and comfortable 3 bedroom house on the private side of beautiful Buckroe Beach. Enjoy a walk at the boardwalk in the evenings after spending the day on the beach. Make a barbecue on the deck looking at the ocean or go fish at the fishing pier.
Phoebus is a small town less than a mile away with local restaurants and antique stores. 30 minutes from Virginia Beach and 45 minutes from Williamsburg.
always a pleasure
We had such a great time last year, definitely came back this time around. Property team did some nice updates what were every much appreciated. Great time, great place.
This house is quirky with some maintenance issues but when we called the realty office with a few things noted, they sent someone to fix them. The price is somewhat high for an area with little to no tourism but we were visiting family and it fit our needs. House quirkiness aside. You can relax to the sound of the waves rolling in. You have access to a private beach (with friendly neighbors), there is a deck you can watch from as well. It was a wonderful week and we've already reserved for next year.
While the house definitely had some band-aid renovations, you just can't get any better than being right on the water! The neighbors are very friendly and welcoming and the privacy is unlike any vacation I've had before. While I'm definitely concerned about how structurally sound the house is long-term, we didn't really mind much! Overall, we had a lovely and relaxing trip and truly loved waking up to the sound of small waves crashing on shore each morning.
Great location. Great area. Easy access to attractions. Previous reviews discuss leaks in the home. While there have been several visible attempts at solutions there are ongoing problems in the home regarding water. During light rain, the roof leaks on the rear wall of the home into the living space. During heavy rains the central main beam along the interior of the home leaks. There are visible signs of multiple areas of water intrusion over time. The property manager was prompt in returning my calls and came to take pictures of the leaks after a heavy rain. I’m confident they will continue to work on the problem but the root cause does not appear to have been identified. Despite the leaks, this place can’t be beat when it comes to beach access and beach community. Dolphins in the morning and collecting shells with the kids on a private beach with great neighbors is a real treat.
Upon check-in the odor of the house was so pungent it was overwhelming and I was convinced I was getting cancer by the nano-second. For some reason, there were 8 different air fresheners in the house! I don't know what they were trying to cover up but the air fresheners were horrible and we removed them from the house and put them on the deck. There was evidence of MANY prior leaks that were painted over, and poorly at that, which made us wonder if the owner was trying to cover up mold in the house. There was a rainstorm and a pretty big leak that left a puddle on the floor. The managing agent did not respond to our email regarding this issue. Many of the windows were warped and did not open or close properly so we were cold after trying to close the window. If you are looking to sit on the beach, you are limited to low tide only, as high tide comes right up to the beach. There was only one roll of paper towel and very little toilet paper left at the house. The only thing good we can say is that the kitchen and bathrooms were clean. Incidentally, there were no beach chairs available, which I find strange when one is renting a beach house. This is not a property I would recommend. Prior reviews said the leaks were being fixed, clearly, that was not the case.
Water comes almost up to the deck, and loved to be able to watch the ships passing by. House has major leaks in one set of windows, but reported this to Megan and it sounds like they will fix it. Overall very nice stay.
This property surprised me! It was definitely bigger than described and had the perfect view of the ocean. During high tide, there is little to no beach but that was definitely not a bad thing. The neighbors were very friendly. The house itself needed a bit of love as the flooring and decking could use a thorough replacement. However, this did not take away from the charm of this quaint house with a private beach. The house provided linens and toiletries similiar to a hotel stay and the master bedroom upstairs was the perfect retreat. Megan at Allied BELLKEY Realty was extremely helpful and professional which helped things come together as I imagined they would for my small gathering of close friends and family.
We recently stayed at this beach house, the view is amazing, the neighbors are all so nice and welcoming. The house itself needs some repairs and updating, in fact the hood above the stove and cupboard above is literally falling down this was brought to the management company's attention and he said its not as bad as it looks and never came to look at it or fix it. There are nails on the deck and boards on the deck that needs replaced, peeling paint inside the home and the list can go on but the home is a nice spacious home in fact it felt bigger than described but it definitely needs some updating and repairs and someone to just love it.
We enjoyed our time at Buckroe Beach. The house needs some tender loving repairs, but overall it was fun. One kitchen cabinet coming off the wall and another cabinet door falling off. I tried contacting the property manager to find out exactly what we needed to do when we checked out at the end of our stay but I never received a call back even after leaving several voicemails.
