The Granary flat is located inside of a historic stone mill on the shoreline of Bay of Quinte, Lake Ontario. With exposed beams and stone walls, this unique space has a lot of character and a rustic feel.

Watch the Glenora Ferry pass by throughout the day, take a walk up to Lake on the Mountain Provincial Park where you can enjoy the breathtaking water views or pop over to the resort to grab a pint and a delicious meal at the two waterfront restaurants and brewery.

The GlenoraMill was built in 1806 as a five-storey stone grist mill, located on the shore of Adolphus Reach on the Bay of Quinte. It is the second mill that was built on the property, replacing the original 1792 mill. Its history connects with many properties along the shoreline, as well as Lake on the Mountain. We have included a printed book of the first 228 years of its history in the flat for you to learn more about how this property came to be.

The Granary Flat inside the mill is our first pilot as a short-term rental. The goal is to continue to renovate this space and open more guest flats over time. This building requires special attention to restore and the owners plan to continuously upgrade this flat and the entirety of the building to share its full potential with our guests.

When you enter the flat, you'll be welcomed by the water view, beautiful stone walls and wood stove in the living room. This space also doubles as a sleeping area with a futon that can be folded down into a bed. Just off the living room is the dining room with seating for four, a workspace with a desk, and a cozy reading area. The kitchen includes a stove/oven, full size fridge, microwave and cookware to prepare your favourite meal. Just off the kitchen is the bedroom, which includes a queen bed and views of the lake. There is one full bathroom with a stand-up shower, no tub. The outdoor area just outside of this flat on the way to the entrance is available to guests to lounge by the firepit, dine, cook and enjoy the views privately.

Please also note that a complimentary Seasonal Sandbanks Beach Pass is included with every stay to give you free access to the Sandbanks beaches.

The flat is self-check-in so you can come and go as you please within the check-in and check-out time frames using the door code provided to you. We will not intrude on your getaway, however, should you find yourself in need of something, please do not hesitate to contact us. This flat is on the main floor of the mill. Other flats are being renovated for additional guests and some units are reserved for the owner's family use and a long term tenant so you may see other people around but they won't interfere with your specific guest areas. The waterfront is a shared space.

Please note there is an outdoor camera facing the driveway to monitor snowfall, snow removal by the municipality and landscaping remotely.

The flat is quaint but entirely satisfactory for us. We'd stayed there before and liked it very much. The kitchen is well supplied, rooms are spacious -though the big bed is a bit of a tight fit. Pleasant little yard to sit out in, and the gentle activity of the ferry for distraction.

Our stay at the Granary was exceptional! The building is beautiful and has an outstanding history as does the immediate neighbourhood. We had everything we needed for a perfect week long vacation; it was clean, had a well equipped kitchen, and a lovely layout. It offered comfort, peace and quiet, wonderful views of the water and the Glenora Ferry, exceptional restaurants just a few minutes away and of course several vineyards nearby. We even saw a vintage “Turtleback” fishing boat as it returned with its morning catch at Point Traverse, a half hour away!We will undoubtedly be back for more…Michael

We really enjoyed our stay at the Glenora Mill. It is a charming historic property close to the ferry (which I became addicted to watching!) and a great place to enjoy the lake front and all of the county.

The three of us were comfortable at The Granary! It was clean overall, expect for a dish, the frying pan and spoons, unfortunately left dirty in the drawers and cupboards. The kitchen was very well-equipped - important because we cooked a lot - although, sadly, there was only one frying pan and everything stuck in it! A second frying pan would have been appreciated. There were several other very nice pots of all sizes. The towels and linens were clean and perfect. However, two pillowcases were missing, and we requested them but never got them (linens were supposed to be included for the bed AND the futon bed). There were communication issues with the property manager: she said that VRBO was having issues and she wasn’t getting our messages, but she did get that message; she didn’t fix that issue. Anyone who expects very cold air conditioning might be disappointed (we were not, as we do not have air conditioning at home); there is a single unit that doesn’t cool down the entire rental, only part of one side of the apartment. We liked the location: close enough to Picton and the Sandbanks Park, but removed enough to be very quiet at night, despite the proximity of the ferry terminal. There’s also a lovely and yummy cafe close by: The Miller House, as well as a fancier restaurant right across the road (which we didn’t try). These are owned by the same people and are about five minutes away from the rental. We quite enjoyed our stay and would return, given the chance.

First impression - outside garden overgrown inhabited by snakes and rodents, parking for a small car only enter the front door like Harrison Ford with spiders and cobwebs all around. door code worked well. House is stone, quite historic Inside - no central air, just a loud window air conditioner at the far end of the house so pretty warm, could only open one window but at least there was a fan on the sill, bed was well past its best before date sagging springs, kitchen was fine and a nice coffee maker with a jar of roasted beans, bath room was small but functional with hot water for the shower, TV in the living room worked well although TV was not what I paid all this money for and in the house lots of spiders, cobwebs, etc. Good thing the windows didn't open as all were covered in cobwebs Location - near the Glenora Ferry (operates from 6am to 1am) so i could go and watch tourists coming and going but that is all in the area. Located beside a government building, but the employees were not too noisy and just had a few boats and trucks mostly. nearest grocery store is 9km away nearest restaurant is 5km (a nice restaurant, tho with fine, expensive, dining) Summary - not worth the high cost
