Julian, California
When you arrive in Pine Hills you will see why it's the most preferred area of Julian. Mature oaks & pines await you w/ abundant wildlife. There is rarely a day when deer or turkey do not come to our back door. Amazing birds & big bushy squirrels also frequent the property. The house is large (2300 sq'). A wrap around deck, Swing set, horseshoes & hammock. Only a few minutes from famed William Heise Park and downtown Julian. A 75" tv in the media room & a giant fireplace to cozy up too. An amazing place Plenty of hiking nearby and this area is very quiet and private.
We had a great experience at this location, it was very serene and comfortable. Our family had a very enjoyable and restful stay. We highly recommend!
Delightful place to stay with extended family! We wholeheartedly recommend it and hope to return. John was a very attentive and personable host.
Great
Can not say enough good things about this property. Gorgeous inside and out. Lots of room and seating inside and out. Beds comfy and warm. So thankful for our stay!
The cabin was large to accomodate 8 of us. We were in the area for a wedding which was just a 1/2 mile away. Worked out good. Lots of wildlife around, turkeys, deer and variety of birds. Very peaceful setting. Worked out well for us.
When we go there the house was clean it felt cozy and there was some laminated paper to explain the rules of the house the history of the house and the family also how to get around the house. It was easy to get a hold of the owner and get a reply in hours. The house was perfect for the family with board games the jacuzzi was a plus, there was extra blankets the beds were comfy as was the blankets. and overall the amazing peaceful experience we had as a family. This place was perfect and we would love to comeback and do it again. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to getaway. Thanks to John and his wife and kids for letting us use their home for our vacation.
Second time staying here. Lovely location. Plenty of room for everyone to hang out, play games and watch TV. Dog run area is a big plus. Fishing close by at lake and easy walks around the neighborhood. Christmas treat for certain!
The property was above our expectations. Wildlife in such close proximity. Lots of photo opportunities. Our biggest compliment was no TV in the main room. It allowed us to enjoy converse and play board games. The large TV in the back room had plenty of seating for the teens to enjoy a movie and the football fans to watch Ohio State football.
The house is in close proximity to the wedding venue (Pine Hills) and Julian. It is a beautiful and very roomy house, thank you for complimentary apple pie, it was delicious!
Our son got married at Pine Hills Lodge in Julian on Sept. 8, 2022, and we needed a large home for out-of-town family and friends to stay in with us. John and Leslie's bungalow worked out very well for us. It is very close to the venue which made it super convenient. John was an extremely responsive host, even prior to our booking. The house was very clean, and very well appointed with just about everything we needed for the 13 people who stayed there. **Important note: although the house says it sleeps 14, 3 spots are on couches (not sofa beds), and 1 on a twin mattress that can be pulled out to use. We brought air mattresses and bedding to use, as we are all too old to sleep on couches lol. It was a minor inconvenience, but listing should be updated to make this clear, as bedding is not provided for these spots.** From all reports, the beds were comfortable (hubby and I were on an Aerobed). Bathrooms worked out fine; one has just a bathtub so showers must be shared with the other two. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make meals. The great room was fabulous and had plenty of room for our large group to sit around and visit, as well as eat together. There are books, games and even a record player. There is a large screen TV in the smaller family room that looked great; however we never had time to use it. The grounds were beautiful, and we were visited by some deer and turkeys before Hurricane/Tropical Storm Kay made her presence known. We never did use the jacuzzi due to the wind and rain. We very much appreciated being able to go in the back door rather than up all the front stairs during the stormy weather. The house worked out very well for our large group, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
The Bungalow was the perfect destination Christmas for our family, friends, and pets. John had the cabin decorated for Christmas, which made the stay even better. We saw deer, turkeys, and squirrels daily. It rained the whole time we were there but the cozy fireplace made being inside more bearable. Can't wait to go back when we can take full advantage of the outdoor beauty.
