Waterside Cottage is your next perfect vacation getaway. Not a cabin, not a castle...a lakeside cottage, light and clean with all the comforts of home.

Waterside Cottage offers lovely views of the mountains and Lake Chatuge. There are plenty of outdoor spaces to enjoy the amazing scenery with a private upstairs balcony, rocking chairs on your front porch, and picnic tables on the front lawn.

The home is close to town, quaint shops, restaurants and vineyards and is the perfect retreat for small families, seniors, and couples. Sorry, we do not accept requests from parties or groups.

We are pet friendly with a two dog maximum. We require a $150 dog fee for your fur baby to accompany you. If you are bringing a dog, please be sure to select the pet indicator when you submit your booking request. You must notify in advance of your stay to bring a dog.

Surrounded by the lake and mountains, this home faces Lake Chatuge.

Lake Chatuge has something for everyone to enjoy and is a perfect lake for swimming, boating, fishing and water sports.

Located in Hiawassee, GA, you’re close to hiking trails, waterfalls, antique malls, boutiques, golf, and fine and casual dining. We are also very close to three marinas.

Waterside Cottage is walking distance to downtown Hiawassee and in a lakeside neighborhood with no steep mountain roads. Access to the home is via a paved, level road with gentle terrain. It is not remote and there are neighbors close by. It is approximately one mile to HWY 76, a main road that takes you to the entire surrounding area.

Watch the sunset over the lake and roast marshmallows around the firepit while the kids catch fireflies. Enjoy the picturesque views from the front porch and balcony or take a relaxing dip in hot tub. For laid back nights, have a night in watching Netflix from your comfortable living room with a bowl of popcorn!

Waterside Cottage offers the use of our Boat Shed which contains 4 kayaks, and bicycles for added family fun.

There is a preserve area across the quiet road with a grassy path access to the lake. The water front is a gradual slope where you can wade out or drop in kayaks, paddle boards, etc. Lake Chatuge, like all lakes in this area, are generally muddy bottoms with red GA clay. The front porch or lakefront is the perfect place to watch the the boats go by, enjoy a good book or relax in the sun. There is a public lake swimming beach with splash pad, playground and pickle ball courts about a 5 min drive from this home.

Please note: There is not a boat dock available with this rental.

The master bedroom is upstairs with a king sized bed, TV, and a spacious balcony with great views. Also upstairs is the guest bedroom with two twin beds and trundles underneath.

There is one bathroom upstairs, with double sinks, a tub/shower and commode.

Downstairs there is a second master bedroom with a queen bed and new 32” smart TV.

There is one bathroom downstairs with a tub/shower combo. All mattresses were replaced in late 2023.

The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking with pots/pans, dishware, utensils, Keurig single serve coffee maker as well as standard coffee pot.

Nearby towns include Clayton, Helen, Blue Ridge, Hayesville, and Franklin and are about a 30 minute drive. Take a trip over the great smoky mountains and visit Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Asheville or Chattanooga, all about a 2 1/2 hour drive away. There is a new casino in Murphy, NC also nearby.

Walk or bike to town (or take the 3 min drive), where you will find a wonderful grocery store, fine restaurants and fast food along with upscale shops and old fashioned general stores.

Waterside Cottage is a 5 minute drive away from the Georgia Mountain fairgrounds and Music Hall where there are festivals and concerts all year long.

You can catch a movie, play golf or visit the spa at Brasstown Valley Resort.

In Blue Ridge you can ride the train though the mountains, or head to the Bavarian town of Helen where you can tube down the river or enjoy the longest Oktoberfest in the US. You can also Visit Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest mountain where the views will take your breath away. Hike the Appalachian trail - there is an entrance just a few miles away.

Waterside Cottage: not an isolated cabin in the woods, but a lakeside retreat close to town and all that it offers.

The view and amenities were fantastic. Chloe, our dog, really enjoyed the yard and swimming in the lake. She even met a playmate across the street. A great time was had by all.

Lovely place. View was great. Host on top of any issues or concerns. King and queen beds very comfortable. Only complaints were 1 ice cube tray that was broken (not ice maker on refrigerator). Had to get ice. And hot tub was cloudy which was fixed at day 3 of stay.

It was an absolute pleasure staying at the cottage, and it met our every need. We enjoyed the games, fire pit, and tv options. There was plenty of space to spread out. Our dog loved having a good sized fenced yard. There was a lot of thought in the details - umbrellas, pet supplies like bowls and leashes, extra blankets, kayaks, bikes, etc. So helpful! The town itself was wonderful with groceries, gas, and fast food options so close. The host made everything easy and was responsive and accessible. We are going to miss the peaceful views and quiet calm. We will definitely keep the cottage in mind as we think a summer trip would be beautiful as well and would allow for more outdoor/water activities.

The lakehouse was nice, very spacious and we loved the fenced in yard for our pup! The neighborhood waa nice and quiet and we enjoyed the grill and firepit! Only issue we had was cleanliness; there were undergarments left behind in a dresser drawer and the hot tub was dirty along with the filter so we did not use it.

I think I was a little surprised that the property was more rustic than expected. The living room furniture was pretty beat and filthy and needed to be replaced. The worst thing is that the pillows were roughly two to three inches thick I have never seen pillows so flat. I wish I would have known so I could have brought my own and been more comfortable. The host was easy to work with and the property was fine to stay in just not quite what I expected by the photos. Also it is not really lake front, it is across the street from the lake.

Our stay was great. The location was perfect for walking We enjoyed evenings around the fire pit. The only negative we had were the beds. They were very lumpy and made noises like cardboard crumbling when you got in or moved. The pillows were flat like pancakes. My husband made us leave a day early due to the bedding and he was uncomfortable. Other than that, the house and yard was lovely. We were gone during the day sightseeing. It would be perfect if the bedding was updated!

Our family had an amazing time at this house. The host was very responsive and accommodating. The view of the lake is amazing at sunset and the easy access to it made daily water activities a must. Definitely make use of those kayaks! The home was well cared for and very cozy. We found that we needed to grab things like hand soap and TP at the grocery store, but that was no biggie. Would absolutely stay here again.

Check in process was super easy, and the owner was extremely responsive. There were some neat places to eat really close, a veteran owned coffee shop at the end of the street, and a wonderful fruit/vegetable stand just a a few miles away which was amazing. Everyone we met was nice and helpful. Go to Helen which is about a 30-minute drive. Neat place to visit. Do the mountain coaster, so fun.

The owner has everything you could think of for wonderful stay and was so kind when I contacted her for questions. Everything was clean and organized, and the descriptions were fairly accurate. I would absolutely recommend this stay for anyone who loves to be close to the lake. Having access to the kayaks was a great activity and everyone loved the bonfire and the indoor fireplace. Of course they were obsessed with the hot tub,Perfect for a chilly spring!

This home is situated in the perfect location with panoramic views of the mountains and Lake Chattuge. The neighbors were friendly and we were close to all the shops and restaurants. We vacationed with 4 adults, 2 children, and our dogs. The entire yard was fenced in to provide our fur babies the freedom to roam without leashes. The fence by the hot tub was tall and provided privacy. This home is spacious with 3 brings, 2 baths, a living room, large kitchen, and dining/den area. The table was perfect for building gingerbread houses and playing games. The weather was frigid, so we especially enjoyed the fireplace. We recommend visiting Hiawassee Brew for a great selection of craft beer and tasty food. We also highly recommend Lakeview Tavern. The appetizers and entrees were delicious and huge portions. We will definitely be back!

My siblings and their spouses (6 total) really enjoyed our stay at this house. It is conveniently located close to town and restaurants. The view of the lake is beautiful. The only issue was with the sheets on the bed in the primary bedroom on the first floor. The fitted sheet (bottom) had a large tear and there were holes in the pillow cases too. Otherwise the house was very nice.

Location is convenient to lake, town, and fairgrounds. We enjoyed coffee on the front porches, hiking, shopping in Hayesville, & a concert at Anderson Music Hall. Interior is neat & clean. Cute garden. Kitchen is stocked well. Bring soap/body wash for showers. We did not bring pets, but see that it would be a good spot for small or medium dogs.

This was a great place to stay, you have a beautiful lake in front of you, the great North Georgia mountains around you, and wonderful weather. If we would have waited a month the fall colors would be icing on the cake.

The house was spacious, well equipped kitchen. Convenient location to the lake and town. Good views of the lake, especially from the upstairs balcony. The hot tub was clean and a nice addition. We enjoyed the large dining area as well. Liked the fire pit and bbq grill. The big complaint is that the bed downstairs is all worn out. Very uncomfortable! It offers no support making two people roll to the center and sqeaks terribly when you move just a little. It really needs to be updated. The baseboards and trim could all use a cleaning and paint. Upstairs balcony screen door is torn and the fence needs some repairs as there several places where the post are rotted and not secure. The front gate latch is broken. If the above issues were addressed then I would give it a 5+ star review.
