AMENITIES/ATTRACTIONS
Since you 'have to' take a boat ride (we know you are protesting), you will also be able to experience wildlife and nature at it's finest. From dolphin watching on the north end of the island (Dolphin Beach) to nature walks in the preserve and untouched natural beaches on the Gulf of Mexico, to never forgetting sunsets, this tropical paradise makes for a perfect relaxing getaway. Tarpon Cove is located on the north end of the island, (the quiet side). A quick ride by golf cart or bicycle allows for quick access to the beaches at various spots on the island, the two pools at North Captiva Island Club, (membership included with your stay which allows use of kayaks and bikes) or the 3 restaurants on the island if you just don't feel like cooking!
Take a walk to Tarpon Cove's private dock where you can peacefully fish in the incredibly fish-filled water of Pine Island Sound or use it to launch the kayak in the water which is included with your stay.
LOCATION
Tarpon Cove is available for rent throughout the year. This remote location of North Captiva Island is accessible only by ferry or private boat. Booking a ferry is simple & easy and we are here to help! This private island community is just 3 miles offshore, part of the Lee Island Coast barrier island chain in South West Florida. The nearest airport to fly into would be in Fort Myers, FL (RSW). Here, you won't find any cars, any crowds, any paved roads or even grocery stores. Those with smaller children, you don't even need your car seats. Just hop on the golf cart with your kiddos and GO!
North Captiva Island offers a combination of that small-town feel with paradise to give you that perfect beach vacation!
THREE STEPS TO ARRIVE ON NORTH CAPTIVA ISLAND
TRAVEL TO NORTH CAPTIVA:
STEP 1:
Travel to North Captiva should begin with checking on great flights to one of the major international airports nearby. SW Florida International (RSW) is a quiet and convenient airport to traverse. Mostly on One level and very easy to access the parking areas, navigating it is truly a pleasure.
Tampa (TPA), Sarasota (SRQ ), and Fort Lauderdale (FLL) are a good distance away to the North or East, but airfare deals often make it rewarding to travel up to 2 hours by car down to Pine Island.
BY CAR
STEP 2:
From the South or North of I-75
To Pineland Marina: Island Girl Charters
From I-75 (exit 143) or US 41, head west on Pine Island Rd. (State Road 78), then take a right on Stringfellow Rd. (State Road 767) in Pine Island Center. Three miles down, take a left on Pineland Road. This will turn into Waterfront Drive and you'll see the Marina on the left, nestled on the shores of Pine Island Sound.
*Important Information: When driving or taking the airport shuttle from Ft Myers International (RSW), allow approximately 2 hour drive time to Pineland Marina.
If you are Grocery Shopping, please account for an additional 45 minutes and make sure you arrive at the Welcome Centers or Marinas at least 30 minutes before your scheduled water taxi departure. (Each ferry will specify how early to arrive)
**Normal ferry operating hours are 9 am - 5 pm. Anything booked after 5 pm can have an 'after-hours' surcharge along with higher rates**
**Checking in after 5:30 pm has a $125 late check-in fee**
BY AIRPORT SHUTTLE
Bringing you to Pine Island's Marinas: Rates are approximately $60 one-way and require a reservation by calling:
Pine Island Taxi (239) 283-7777
Sanibel-Captiva Airport Shuttle (800) 833-4473
BY UBER
Uber drivers can pick you up at either major airport RSW or PGD. The drive time is about the same as the taxi company, but you may have more wait time if your driver is not at the airport waiting for you to arrive. Finding an Uber driver from the airport will be easier than to the airport as Pine Island is a smaller town.

The property is immaculate and beautiful, the hosts are the best
Our 11 night stay at Tarpon Cove on North Captiva was just what we needed, with plenty of R&R - beach time and chilling at the lovely home. Quick and easy access to 4 beaches, each with its own advantages. We enjoyed watching sunrises from our dock or Dolohin Beach, and kayaking at Dolphin Beach right next to multiple dolphins and manatees! Many sunsets at sunset beach and quick & easy access for short-term beaching. South Beach is vast and never crowded, with the middle beach our most frequent destination. Both where we watched manatees and tarpon swimming by almost daily. The house is wonderfully supplied for beach fun, cooking, and basic necessities- above and beyond most other VRBO destinations. We brought our groceries over via ferry (Island Girl Charters) w us from Publix in Cape Coral. No need for ANYTHING dressy - NC is 100% relaxed and casual. Our teens desired a bit more to do, but it was a fantastic experience and gave us a lot of valuable family time! Andrey & Lana were wonderful!
We had a wonderful week of rest, boating & fishing.
This property was absolutely wonderful and the property owners are even more wonderful. It was a seamless check in and check out and everything leading up to it was also seamless. The house is so well-suited for a family and they thought of everything including crafts for kids, and fun pool/beach toys. Next time I can pack at least two bags less because they’re so prepared. We will definitely come back to this house again.
We really enjoyed Tarpon Cove and North Captiva, The home was lovely as are the hosts. Perfect fit for our family of 5. Enjoyed grilling out every night, reading on the porch, sunsets on the beach, dolphins, shelling and just about everything. We will definitely return!
Communication with owners was fantastic. Lana and Andrey have thought of all the details to make a wonderful stay. North Captiva is a special place. Would definitely stay at Tarpon Cove again.
Property was well equipped, clean and beautiful. The hosts were responsive to our (many!!) questions regarding all of the logistics for our first stay on North Captiva and also very helpful/patient. The island itself is lovely. We really couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing getaway and hope to return!
We had a week in February at this Tarpon Cove house. The 2 bedroom 3 bathroom house is fully updated and a Luxurious retreat for our family. The island is remote with access only by ferry but if you want a few days off the grid this one is for you. Andrey and Lana are great hosts with a well stocked well organized home.
Our family visited North Captiva for the first time over the holidays and New Year. This enchanting island is an eco-enthusiasts dream come true! Our hosts, Lana and Andrey, own and privately manage Tarpon Cove and it shows. The house is immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and stocked with essentials and many extras you might need during a vacation is paradise! Navigating the details on travel arrangements, groceries and rentals was no small task, but the Gera’s provided a thorough welcome packet and Lana patiently answered my many questions and gave great advice, which eased the task of preparation and planning. The Geras were both communicative and accommodating prior to and during our stay.. We were a group of 6 (3 adults and 3 older teenagers) and booked Pine Island Taxi for our airport transfer to the marina, a private water taxi through Boats and Fun and opted to have our groceries delivered to the house prior to our arrival and I am so glad we did! Our flights were cancelled and rerouted at the last minute, pushing back our arrival time by 4 hours, but our transports were able to adjust their pick-up times AND, although we arrived after dark, our heroic host, Andrey, was waiting for us at the dock. Boats and Fun was closed when we arrived, but our captain was prepared with the paperwork for the additional Golf Cart we rented. Thank you all for your help! Advice from a 1st timer… Book your transportation, rentals and activities well in advance of your trip. Buy more groceries than you think you need, including beverages. The island is casual so pack lightly. The evenings were cool so pack a sweater. Bring plenty of sun block and bug spray. Prepare to Relax!
Tarpon Cove is the perfect location for a relaxing experience with a touch of adventure in North Captiva. The home is beautiful, clean and comfortable. It is very serene with the perfect combination of adventure! Being able to access the personal dock and kayak with dolphins was amazing! We experienced all types of wildlife exposure! The golf cart was great too! Bikes were very nice and the owners have everything you need for the beach including towels and chairs. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking and the space is very clean and comfortable. Beds were all very nice and comfortable. We enjoyed every minute and definitely will return to Tarpon Cove and we hope to stay longer on our next visit!
