Nice place with a short walk to town. The master bath not having a door is weird to me. But it’s fine for a short trip. Bed is comfy. Pillows are too soft for my liking. Kitchen is nice. Patio is a great place to end the day.
Great property, great location, great time!
Our friend group comes to Murphy’s for Irish Days every year. Our usual vacation rental was sold last year and no longer available. We chose this location and i’m so glad we did!! The home is clean, comfortable, great location. Map search the address, it’s not where VRBO shows it in town. Modern appliances, and well equipped kitchen. Most places have basics, this location had all the kitchen extras. Baking spray, spices, water bottles in the fridge and next to the beds. Fluffy towels and super comfy bedding. Lots of hot water and water pressure for your showers. The deck was amazing. I’m a lover of outdoor space and this one is amazing. Took coffee and brunch in the sunshine. Each room had its own AC unit, which I really loved. I run hot so it was nice to be able to have separate temps in the house. Also appreciated the on site parking. Very pleased with our stay and experience.
Property was beautiful! The pictures do no do it justice. Walked out of the bedroom to a beautiful morning view from the living room. Had coffee & later cocktails on the large deck. Walking distance to downtown Murphy’s. I would recommend this property and will definitely stay here again.
We've stayed here before and will definitely return. The home is decorated beautifully with lots of amenities. The deck view is gorgeous and relaxing and you cannot beat the location. It's just over 3 blocks into the middle of downtown Murphys. Yet when your at the house, you would never know there's hustle and bustle just down the road. We love it!
We’ve stayed at a lot of vacation rentals in Murphy’s over the years, we will never stay in this one again. This property is not a house, it’s a duplex. The “studio on the property” as described in the listing is actually a downstairs unit located directly below the property. We were not notified of this until the Tuesday prior to our Friday arrival. It felt very calculated the way the information was communicated. Parking was a mess too. In the message prior to our arrival Mary stated there was parking for two cars. We had three cars, so we parked in the two designated spots and tucked the third car behind another in one of the spots, off to the side of the driveway. I was very surprised to receive both a call and text from Mary during our dinner demanding we move our cars, that the renters in the studio below us were waiting. Needless to say the parking situation is not well communicated or documented. There is a severe lack of window and door coverings. The only shades in the living room area are over the kitchen sink and dining table. The windows and doors (the easy points of access) along the deck and stairway in the living room are large and uncovered. There are LARGE sliders in each of the bedrooms that have no covering at all, and the smaller room has a large light from the house next door that shines directly into the room at night. There is also a large, uncovered window in the guest bathroom. It feels like something out of a horror movie. The concern regarding the lack of window coverings was confirmed on our second night at the property when I caught the man staying downstairs looking into the living room window. Needless to say no one slept very well either night, especially that evening. It’s a legitimate safety concern. There’s also a very weird dishwashing policy ($75+ for any clean dishes left in the dishwasher), and a strange availability of dish-ware. Bring your own pot if you plan to boil water- we had to make macaroni and cheese in a frying pan!
Nice property a short walk from downtown. We’ve stayed at several properties in Murphy's and wouldn’t pick this one again. Owner was kind and communication was excellent. Property was clean and well appointed, generally. That said, the number one drawback is the lack of window coverings, most notably in the bedrooms and in the shower. Sliding glass doors in both bedrooms have no window coverings making 100% of the space viewable from outside. The second bathroom has no window covering as well, which means my wife had to shower in the evenings with the lights out to ensure privacy. Very odd. The property is also not as advertised in that the listing indicates two en suite bedrooms, meaning the bathroom is in the bedroom. Only the master is en suite. Owner provides three or four pages of instructions on what not to do and what your chores are before leaving. Where to place soiled linens, where to empty your own trash, what to unplug, what to plug in, what to turn on, what to turn off, including a price tag for not following the chore list (run the dishwasher, empty, and put away all dishes prior to leaving the unit). There were three heat / air units but not a single one delivered heat, despite following the detailed directions.. There were three space heaters (unplug when not present and when leaving) and all were necessary during our weekend stay in October. There were a total of three window coverings in the entire home, two in the master and one in the dining area. Lighting is also an issue. There was a single floor lamp and a single table lamp in the living area, plus one bulb (yes, bulb) in the kitchen, and two bulbs in the living area. Maybe fine during the summer months but definitely not adequate in Fall, especially if trying to work or read. We’ve stayed at many VRBO properties and honestly can’t think of one that was less than four or five stars prior to this one. Had a minor electrical issue during our short stay. Managed to locate the service panel, reset breaker and GFIs to get things working again. Sent a message to the owner which was responded to promptly. Snapped photos prior to departure to confirm compliance with the guest “to do” list. Really felt more like part of the staff than a guest. High price point to be part of the staff. Really enjoyed meals at Grounds, V, Murphy's Pour House, and Firewood. Great wine tasting at Newsome, Hatcher, Mineral, Broll, and Stevenof. Be sure to say hi to Sydney at Newsome. She rocks.
Very easy, nice, comfortable and close to everything
We enjoyed our visit to Murphys. While the property is close enough to walk to downtown, we chose to drive and park, as we were there in October and we didn't want to walk back in the dark (no sidewalks, although it is also true that there is little to no traffic). We enjoyed the rustic outdoorsy view and had a great time.
Great location, nice layout. Wish bedrooms and guest bath had curtains… Thanks again
