Built in 2001, The South Lake Tahoe Castle has been among the most highly rented vacation home rentals in South Lake Tahoe. Thousands of people have stayed here over the years. You will have so much fun enjoying the amenities that you may never even go into town!

*** SPECIAL NOTE: This is an older home with many moving parts and very high occupancy levels. All major amenities in the home work great, however due to the age of the home, high occupancy, the high levels of humidity from the pool, extreme snow, expect regular outages of amenities such as fireplaces (please assume they will not be operative half the time and this is outside of our control to keep fully operational at all times), ceiling fans, waterfall (We have stopped all future maintenance repairs of waterfall due to the fact that it never worked well even when new). Please note we have a small wine cooler that is marked out of order. We do not plan to replace it as we have a full sized refrigerator in the home. We cannot guarantee that amenities on this disclaimer list will be in working condition. Our maintenance teams are always fixing things in this home, however please understand this home requires constant maintenance due to the many moving parts of the home ***

* Large Loft (Counts as a legal bedroom) - 2 sets of twin over twin bunk beds (Note: Bunk beds, particularly the top bunks may not be suitable for tall or heavy people), Please note: The loft no longer has a couch, it has a futon sleeper which can lay flat to sleep.

In the loft we also have a pool table and foos ball table. Regular coffee machine available

Setting:
The home is in a beautiful mountain setting surrounded by tall trees, on a quiet cul de sac. It is on a private, spacious lot with lots of space between the nearest neighbors.

WINTER PARKING ALERT:
Please look at the photos of the driveway. 4 WHEEL DRIVE vehicles are pretty much mandatory in winter, all 4WD should also carry chains. To enter the driveway, you must navigate through the very narrow driveway entrance, then go up through a curving steep incline. In the winter, there is almost always a layer of snow or ice on the driveway. Most vehicles that get stuck, get stuck in the middle so it is not recommended that you stop in the middle portion of driveway. Either drive to top of driveway, or stay at the bottom of driveway. 2WD cars should not come to this property December 15- April 1. We have shovels, please help yourself if you need help getting into the garage. On top of this difficulty to get up our driveway and garage, it is important to understand that our street is on a cul de sac. It is all uphill to get out, and is among the last streets to get plowed by the county. You may easily get stuck on the street trying to leave if you are not fully prepared with a good 4WD vehicle. During a major storm, it may be next to impossible to leave our street until the snow plows come through our street at least once. Although our maximum allowed parking is 4, it will be very difficult, close to impossible to get more than 3 cars to fit easily on the property in winter. During December 15 to April 1, we are not allowing more than 3 cars on our property due to all the snow that builds up, and the very high snow banks that makes our driveway even more narrow. Our private snow plow service will not plow the driveway unless it is empty. On days of heavy snow, we strongly recommend keep 2 cars in garage, and 0 cars on driveway otherwise you may need to remove driveway snow on your own with our shovels.

It is very illegal to park on the street at all times, especially in the winter due to constant snow plowing. You will receive a very expensive citation and will be towed.

• South Lake Tahoe has highly enforced quiet hours of 10pm-8am. Please do not make any noise outdoors during quiet hours
• Max occupancy is limited during quiet hours.

Maximum Parking: (4 allowed by law, but realistically only 2-3 can easily park in the winter) 3 cars should have 4 wheel drive or chains during winter months. Expect major backups with our snow removal services during heavy snow periods. This is outside our control. Our road may be impassable during heavy snow, and our driveway may go unplowed if cars are on the driveway. 1 in driveway, 2 in garage. Absolutely no street parking is allowed by law.
Guests may not exceed maximum allowed by law for even 5 minutes.

Cleaning fees also include: Maintenance, supplies, restocking costs. This pays for guest consumables (Such as laundry detergent, soaps, shampoos, starter set of paper towels, tp, etc. For longer stays, we ask guests to purchase). Replacement of items such as broken coffee makers, portable heaters, fans, linens, towels and more. Regular trash removal from bear bins to town dump. We ask guests to assist with optional checkout procedures that are very time consuming such as start dishwasher, wash a load or two of towels. While these procedures are optional for guests, they are highly appreciated to help save our cleaners time, particularly for our back to back turnovers which are very difficult in the Vacation Home Rental industry. – Thank You Lux Villa VR

Note on cancellation policy: Please note that booking a visit to Lake Tahoe comes with some risks of guests wishing to cancel and receive a refund due to natural disasters or weather related events. Our cancellation policies are strictly enforced regardless of the reason for cancellation. If you need to reschedule your date, you must be in compliance with cancellation policy first. If there is a blizzard, road closure, fire, smoke, rock slide, avalanche and/or any other natural disasters, our cancellation policy will still be enforced as we cannot expect our property owners to be held accountable for refunds for natural disasters which are expected to occur in the High Sierra Nevada Mountain Range on a constant, regular basis.

    Kind of old, only 3 teaspoons and many tablespoons. Hard to increase temp on hot tub. Indoor pool at 70 degrees NOT 85. Couch in living room worn, bedrooms small but master bedroom okayKids loved the pool and hot tub!

    The house is very nice and comfortable, but in need of better maintenance, especially outside. Kitchen was pretty well stocked, glad I brought a grill to make pancakes. The pictures are deceptive as they make most rooms look bigger than they are, however there is plenty of comfortable seating. The pool was enjoyed as was the pool table even though the sticks were missing there tips.
