Stayed Feb 10, 2026Didn't need to reach out to the host, no problems. We had mostly everything that was needed. The lights were on when we got there very late and we appreciated it, made entrance very easy. Overall a great stay while we enjoyed our grandson's graduation from Fort Jackson.

Stayed Oct 6, 2025We had a wonderful stay. The overall cleanliness was good with a few exceptions that made no difference to the quality of our stay. Maybe just needs a little more attention to small details. The house itself had a wonderful old world style that was brought into the modern age. We all loved the character and charm. We unfortunately did not get to stay very long as our trip was a quick one. My only suggestions would be to improve on the height of the back stairs to make it an easier entry from the driveway for handicapped persons and maybe a grab bar in the restroom for us older handicapped guests. Other than that I was able to maneuver throughout the property with a large walker fitting through all doorways. My only other suggestion would be to maybe put a canopy over the back deck so that it doesn't fill the furniture up with falling leaves. We had great communication with our host and she was even accommodating when we needed to extend our check out time to accommodate our soldier after his basic training graduation. There are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. We will definitely book with host and Heartwood Homes again. Thank you so much for a great stay!!

Stayed Apr 22, 2025I rented this property for family that was coming into Columbia, SC, from across the globe-Guam, and country (CO, NV, TN) for a US Army Basic Training graduation at Fort Jackson. The guest cottage was just what my husband and I needed for quiet space and privacy. The big house was just what we needed for adequate sleeping arrangements and family time. The downstairs master bedroom was used by family with 2 toddlers. This room gave them enough space and private restroom to keep the 4 of them comfortable. The other bedrooms and bathrooms gave 4 children and 1 adult comfortable, safe sleeping and bathing places. The kitchen and dining area allowed us to prep our to go meals as well as family dinners in the house. The paved gated backyard allowed the children to play outdoors safely, with no fear of escaping to the busy road. Our newly graduated US Soldier was so grateful for a few hours of family time, which was our goal. When an issue came up with the TVs, Wendy was very helpful and accommodating to solve the problem. We also thoroughly enjoyed family-centered activities that Columbia offered. The highlight for all of us- ages 2-72, was the RiverBanks Zoo. I am very appreciative of all of the accommodations and location this home offered my extended family.

Stayed Aug 30, 2024I had started at many VRBO properties, each at various stages of the rental cycle. This property has lots of potential but needs needs a lot of TLC first. The house is old and and has been updated on the interior. The house smelled old. The HVAC must still be the original and didn’t take the moisture out of the air. A door fell apart on our first day. The house was not dirty, it just as clean as you would expect from a VRBO or a Heathwood home. With a little work this could be a nice rental but for right now it was ok at best. I own short term rentals and hope the owners put the work into this home to make it nicer.

Stayed May 2, 2024Where do I begin....Listing was not as advertised on VRBO. Pictures were deceiving and misleading. The back house did not lock and so we were not able to use It. Neighborhood was NOT GOOD. Four, yes, FOUR! Uber drivers asked why we were staying there. Some wouldn't even come to the neighborhood to get us! The house is not well maintained. I have many pictures I can send. It's on a busy road in a rough part of town. The kicker was on Saturday night, while inviting guests in for the grad party, a car drove by and shot a gun at a house across the street 5 TIMES! It was very unsettling. So it's not everyday you have a drive by shooting while on vacation with your family. I do not recommend this house be part of VRBO
