A very nice home with everything we needed, situated with beautiful views and close proximity to many activities and great dining.
Everything was perfect. Location, accommodations, and the warmth of the owner all contributed to a magical stay for our family of 10 that exceeded our high expectations.
Rock Ledge is an incredible house, built in the 1880's by Ralph Emerson, the architect who originated and popularized the Shingle Style. The house was sensitively renovated. It's extremely comfortable, with an enormous front porch ideal for looking at the ocean and the many sailboats passing by. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room (when you aren't eating on the porch as we mostly did) is large and handsome with good views. The bedrooms are all of good size, several with ensuite bathrooms. The house is set high up on a hill so the views of the ocean are superb. The Cape Arundel neighborhood has many other beautiful homes and is quiet and peaceful. It is close to the charming village of Cape Porpoise. There is good biking in the area and there are several excellent restaurants nearby, including the restaurant at the Cape Arundel Inn, a five minutes from the house.
When you think of having a summer vacation in an adorable New England beach town, this enormous stunning classic home (and the town it's in) are straight out of central casting. The house is one of the original grand beach mansions in Kennebunkport and yet updated just perfectly so it retains all its original charm AND is highly functional. The owners are absolutely great. The location is a nice walk from town and the beach. We've been twice and plan to go again and again. 3
We had the most amazing experience renting Rockledge! This property was amazing, it was in the best location— beautiful ocean views from many of the rooms, a nice walk down to town, and only a short drive to neighboring towns:). We rented to celebrate our parents 40th wedding anniversary and the house had space for us all! It was such a special week and are so grateful to have had this special property to stay at. The house was impeccably clean and our host was so receptive to all of our calls and texts— sending us recommendations for things to do, places to go, the best beaches, and the best restaurants! It felt like we had our own personal vacation concierge! I can’t say enough fabulous things about our stay at Rockledge and we hope to be back soon to visit again!
a stay for our whole family in this historic but renovated Kennebunkport oceanfront mansion with plenty of room and rooms. couldn't have been better.
Our experience with Rock Ledge began meeting our wonderful host Christy. She made us feel like family with her helpful suggestions of things to do while visiting and checking in throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. The historical, peaceful and comfortable home, the location within walking distance to fabulous restaurants and shopping, the unbelievable view from the porch swing, made for the perfect vacation. The memories made with our family will be hard to beat. Rock Ledge was everything we dreamed of and more. We plan to return many times and hopefully with grandchildren some day. There is plenty of room for a large family with children who will absolutely adore their special living space. Our family would agree that this is a little piece of Heaven.
This family home is an east coast quintessential Shingle Style high end summer cottage in a fabulous location. There are exceptional views from almost every room in the house. But the views from the large front porch of the rocky coastline are magical. Hours and hours were spent watching the coastline change with the tides, listening to the waves and climbing down to the beach at low tide with my grandchildren to collect rocks and shells for their treasure boxes. Even the adults got in on the action and built towers out of the rocks. There are also 3 or 4 nearby sandy beaches which the family visited almost everyday after all the walks, biking and exploring. The interior of the home is wonderful with a very large incredibly well equipped kitchen/pantry/laundry room and butlers pantry. The dining room, living room and family room are warm, inviting and classically Maine. Upstairs are comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms many of which are completely updated with ocean views. A surprise fantastic little playroom is on the 3rd floor and added much to my grandchildren's stay. Not one of us had a single complaint. Both the owner and caretaker were easily accessible had we needed anything. This is an exceptional home !!!
