The neighborhood
The Sawmill district, borders the north side of Old Town, and is gradually gaining a new vibe as it evolves away from industrial roots to an eclectic mix of old and new housing and businesses. You are a few short minutes from old town Albuquerque, local brewery's, many great restaurants, Explora, and the Natural History Museum. You are sure to be entertained and have a wonderful time! Plus Balloon Fiesta Park is only 15-20 min drive!
Getting around
We highly recommend a car, but you can also take the city bus. There are bike paths near by as well and you can walk many places from the house.
It’s location is perfect for easy access to Old Town, museums, park and Saw Mill Market. The house layout is good. Number of bathrooms, bedrooms and laundry area amenable for families traveling. The first impression of the house is via the garage entrance where dead and dying cockroaches were present. Although house was “relatively” clean, the downstairs sliding glass door was dirty and covered with fingerprints. Lots of old condiments in fridge. No welcome note/basic breakfast supplies.or water. This this has been standard in every other VRBO property I have stayed in. The living room fine but you know coffee table. Old and dusty decorative items on the walls and fireplace. The carpet on stairs and hallway was dirty. Large dead cockroach behind bed one bedroom. We closed that room. Back bedroom with a beautiful balcony had no furniture to enjoy the space. The front room had a balcony with two chairs that did not appear dirty but in fact were- I deeply stained an outfit. First floor bathroom sink drained poorly. The first time we ran the washing machine, the house smelled like stagnant water for literally two days. I went to the store and purchase my own disinfectant cleaner and cleaned every surface before using(other cleaners and deodorizer but no disinfectant present at house). I would not classify this as a premier property. Neither the small front yard or tiny patio area in the back are landscaped. Just brush and dirt. I was hoping to take pictures in the yard. However that was not possible.
Very clean. Convenient and near a lot of food. Owner was A+. Well stocked. Would stay again
This property is clean and well maintained. It is very comfortable and well appointed. The neighborhood is so cute and it is walkable to Old Town shops and restaurants. I would live there!
Great location for Old Town, Explora, museums
I come out to Albuquerque about every year and have stayed in a few vrbo places. This was by far the best for the $$. Very clean and comfortable. I'd stay again.
The home is located in the heart of Albuquerque. Great places to visit downtown, restaurants, breweries and a hop skip away from the Sawmill. We enjoyed visiting family and seeing all the new things Albuquerque has to offer.
Very good deal, absolutely recommend
My first impression was not good. The grounds of the house are not kept up weeds and spiderwebs were all over the door ways. We saw black widows at night all around the doors. House itself was not kept up. The master bathroom tub looked dirty. Windowsills were dirty there were ants in my bed and on the wall were the head board should be. Ants were every were on the kitchen counters and couch. We got bitten while sitting on the couch. My niece lost her shoe so we had to move the couch and saw that there was dog hair every where and on the pull out bed of the couch. So we think we were being bit by flies. There was marijuana flakes in one of the guest bedroom drawers. We took pictures of everything.
The hosts were very responsive to all of our questions
Four of us visited and two of us were re-visits to same property. It is a good base for a New Mexico visit: near Old Town, near Albuquerque Trolley Tour, near freeway access to all directions. We did two day trips and returned 'home' on those days. Nice music channel available on TV. Some minor suggestions: chairs in bedrooms would be nice to be able to sit on for putting on shoes; also teaspoon size spoons (the ones there were very large). Did love the Keurig coffee pot, the four chairs and table in kitchen (plus two stools at counter). Owner very helpful about anything we asked and left very detailed information taped to front of refrigerator that provided much info. Enjoy New Mexico--if not in town, wear sturdy shoes when visiting Pueblo sites such as Acoma, Sky City or other rural places.
