Sunriver Retreat, Hot Tub, A/C, SHARC, and Bikes

Rating Details: The property manager was somewhat unhelpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was more than happy with the location. I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hot tub had not been serviced prior to our arrival as stated on tub info in house. Water was low with floating brown slime and brown ring around. Decrepid control panel. Could not use our first day and had to call for service. Got cleaned, but then the control panel would not work and we had to call service again and they replaced the panel. They said that the tub should have been replaced years ago. Also, on arrival, dirty carpets, very dusty main bedroom. Main bathroom whirlpool tub had visible black mold growing around all four jets. Shower head had black mold growing through all the holes. Had to purchase mold cleaner and soak all before use. Living room is missing a blind in the big picture window, so we had no privacy at night from the walking path and street which are very close. Had to tack up a spare hideabed sheet for privacy. Toaster barely works in only half the slots. The barbecue grate bottoms have rotted out and only two burners will light at one time. Carpet nails have popped through near the kitchen, so a flimsy trip-hazard rug has been lain over. Cable TV was spotty and many channels would not get sound. Cable box in first bedroom near the door would not work. Called cable company listed and they could not get it to work remotely. Sunset Lodging really dropped the ball on inspection and training cleaning staff. No staff reached out during our stay to see how our visit was going. Owners need to improve upkeep.

There were a few cleanliness issues and even left one exposed for the house cleaner to take care of (crumbs under the rug between living room and dinning room when we straightened it out and dust on top of the tv cabinet, plastic foliage). Main bathroom toilet ran periodically. Front porch light flickered and I replaced the bulb, but still flickered. Stove light flickered. Hot tub as seen better days, but worked fine and was clean. I couldn't get the thermostat to stay in one mode. The master bathroom is dated, but decent. A couple of the window shades are broken. There are not very many tall glasses in the kitchen. The frying pans have seen better days. There were plenty of great things about this home and why I would recommend it.

From the photos, this place looks great for a family vacation. However, from the time we arrived through our week long stay, there were multiple problems with the property. I would not stay here again, we loved Sunriver as a whole. 1. Refrigerator shelves collapsed while unloading groceries on the first day 2. Wet shower mat left by cleaners in the washer 3. Recliner chair broken and wouldn’t recline 4. Pantry door fell off hinges when we tried to open it 5. Glass beer bottles left in the recycling from previous guest 6. Master bath toilet seat broken 7. Carpet runner protecting transition area between living room carpet and kitchen floors is a major tripping hazard and is covering up duct taped area with dangerous finishing nails protruding.

We had a lovely time at this property. The location is spectacular and the layout of the home was great. I loved the open kitchen and was happily surprised there was a keurig in addition to the coffee pot. I was very impressed that the beds were so comfortable. This house is nearly perfect, but is in desperate need of a deep clean and some minor maintenance. There were light bulbs out, the pantry door fell off when we arrived, and the carpet threshold into the living room is held together with duct tape. I didn't really mind this because of the location and layout, but with a little more care this place could be amazing.

Great time all around. We have stayed here quiet a few times, and still like the layout and the air conditioner. We love the location right next to the river.. Things could be kept up a little better. Barbecue, large kitchen glasses which seem to get fewer every year. Some shades are broken too. Couch in Living Area is very uncomfortable and needs to be replaced. All in all, we still love the place, just wish for some more upkeep.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We go to Sunriver every year for the last 20 years and this is the first time we’ve stayed in the same house as the previous year. We had such a great experience last year and had a great time this year as well. Everything listed is true including how close the property was to the river. We have two e-bikes and enjoyed all the trails that we ventured on. I must recommend the river loop trail. Lights outside didn’t work. Light in the hot tub didn’t work. But, both minor and didn’t ruin our stay. We would rent this place again.

My daughter forgot her power cord & they found it & mailed it to her. That was greatly appreciated.
