LOCATION- The HOUSE is on a quiet cul-de-sac, in Henrico, NC on the NE Quad on beautiful Pea Hill Creek. It takes two hours from Virginia Beach, two hours from Raleigh, NC, one hour and forty five minutes from Richmond and three-four hours from Maryland and Washington, DC.
PEA HILL CREEK is large and has some of the cleanest water on the lake and is mostly calm. However, if you want rougher water, the main lake is a 5 minute boat ride away. You can enjoy swimming, fishing, jet-skiing, sunbathing, and boating on the lake. Lake Gaston has 350-miles of shoreline. It is 34 miles in length and 1.3 miles across at its widest point.
The BOAT DOCK is a short walk from the house with a very gentle slope. At the boat dock, you will find enough cleats to tie up your boat and there is 8 feet of crystal clear water at end of the dock to jump into safely. Bring your food down to the boat dock. You'll find a table and chairs where you can eat and watch all the lake activities up close, or relax and soak up the sun on one of our comfortable lounge chairs.
A PRIVATE BOAT RAMP is only 4 houses away. There are games for the kids to play in the house in case it rains or for use in the evenings.
The SANDY BEACH is small, natural, private and steps from the house. The little ones can play in it and build sand castles.
FISHING is excellent at Lake Gaston. Cast from the dock or a boat and catch bass, perch, catfish, sunfish and crappie. They're waiting for you.
The HOUSE is a one-story house and is clean and comfortable with excellent views of the lake. The house has Central A/C and Heat. All bedrooms are equipped with ceiling fans. There are three bedrooms - (2) Queens, (1) Double as well as (1) Pull-out couch Queen bed located in the great room. The house is not wheel chair accessible to get in or out of, there are 3 steps, but from the house to the water is a gentle slope for a wheel chair to easily negotiate. RENTERS SUPPLY THEIR OWN BATH TOWELS, LINENS AND PILLOWS.
The KITCHEN is equipped with all your needed appliances, dishes, silverware, pots and pans, and a slow cooker. You can also prepare your meals on our Gas Grill located on the house deck overlooking the lake.
The DINING ROOM seats six but an extra folding table and chairs can seat two more for a total of 8.
FOOD - Food Lion, Hamburgers and Hot dogs, Pizza with delivery, ATM, Ace Hardware and gas station located only 5 minutes from the house. (Make a right on River Rd and drive 5 mins) On the weekends, less than one mile away, is the Lake Gaston Flea Market. Great bargains and produce!
Renters supply their own towels, sheets and pillows. Sorry, NO SMOKING. Small dogs may be allowed. $200 Fee applies.
RENTER TESTIMONIALS
Good Evening Chris,
We had a BLAST! Wish we were there right now!! As I mentioned when we
spoke last Thursday evening, we love your place. The house and location (we
love Pea Hill Creek) are great. We had a great time and hope to spend some
time (perhaps 2 weeks) there next summer. When do you begin booking for next year
We're attaching a photo of the family so you can 'meet' the Stephenson's.
Thanks again.

Hi Chris,
We had a fabulous time at the lake! Your house is at a great location on
the lake, and we liked that we could swim from the dock. This was
probably our most restful vacation.
Denny did go golfing a few times at the local golf course.
Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your home.
Ginny S.
Lake house was AWESOME! We had an amazing time and hope to return sometime maybe even this summer if it's not already rented out. Thanks,
Kate
Wonderful quiet neighborhood, everything EXACTLY as stated. Just a note, if you have a problem following rules this may not be the location for you.
Nice house, great view and walking distance to boat ramp, what more can you ask for.
This was the third year our family stayed at “Sunrise On The Lake”. We continue to look forward to our next visits. It’s the quintessential family lake house. Everything is conveniently close by. The house is decently stocked with kitchen essentials. The view across the lake is one of a kind. I would highly recommend reserving this house for your next family vacation. Thanks Chris for sharing your lake house with our family. We hope to visit again soon.
This property was amazing. We had a small Carolina skiff and it was so nice to have the boat ramp close by. The beach was perfect for our grandchildren ages 1 and two. The view of the lake was stunning and the house was well stocked and clean. The short walk to the dock and beach was so nice! I will definitely try to stay again.
Great 2 weeks, Chris was easy to reach and easy to work with. This house has a fantastic view.Great location to boat ramp. We were comfortable and a/c worked great, we had some hot days. Thanks for a great vacation. Ronald W.
We have stayed multiple places at Lake Gaston and this has been our favorite so far. The view is just unbeatable. The neighborhood is quiet and very walkable. The house is on the older side, but Chris has made everything fresh, modern and super clean! The deck views are amazing. The walk down to the dock is barely a slope and the large dock has plenty of room for family. The water is plenty deep for jumping off the dock. The cove is small enough for privacy, but wide enough for beautiful views. We enjoyed our time so much and look forward to coming again!
The lake house was situated in a lovely area with amazing long-distance views. A gentle slope down to the water and dock was very helpful in our many trips back and forth to house. A wonderful place for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding and fishing. If you have a boat the launch is right up the street. The neighborhood was nice with large lots and many trees. We enjoyed snappy the turtle who hung out at the dock all weekend. The home was clean, kitchen was well-stocked and the beds comfy. Thanks, Chris, for sharing your home with us.
I wasn't able to go was in the hospital until Wednesday but everyone enjoyed them sell, and will be back at a later day. James
A friend and I stayed here over the past couple of days for fishing tournament. The house was easy to find with nice parking for truck and trailer. I must say the sunrise is a must see from the deck!!
Loved it very nice
Good fishing. Very clean house. Nice place to relax. A gem in the rough.
Perfect size and location for two old couples just interested in boating, fishing, and relaxing on the water.
It’s an older home with a fantastic view. House is on a culdesac and a cove and so it’s very quite and peaceful. The lake view and ability to launch a kayak or SUP is absolutely wonderful. Communication with Chris was perfect we would 100% stay here again.
View is great and boating spot on Pea Hill Creek is awesome.
The house and property was just what my family needed for a week at Lake Gaston. The view from the deck was spectacular and we really enjoyed the beach area which was shady in the afternoon and so welcomed after being in the sun most of the day. Chris (the owner) was very helpful and made sure we had a great week. We definitely will go back.
Location and beach are great. Everything in the house is old other then frig and stove. Bugs and dust in heat vents, on kitchen lights and at outside door. Floor mats in kitchen are flithy and a million years old. The advertised fold out couch is very stained and broken. Years worth of pine tags in gutters is a clue as to how clean and maintained the house is. I hope that VRBO reads this review and admonishes the owner to provide a cleaner home.
We enjoyed our stay at the property on Lake Gaston. The view from our deck was breathtaking, and there was plenty for all of us to do.....boating, swimming, and sunning on the deck.
The house is not fancy but clean and in a great location with an awesome view. Beach is great for launching kayaks and swimming. Community boat ramp is close. Owner responded promptly to questions.
Excellent spot on the lake - can walk to boat launch, 10 minutes to stores/restaurants.
Nice property, house is in need of some exterior work. Great location.
This was our first trip to Lake Gaston, which is an absolutely gorgeous lake. The home was beautiful furnished with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing weekend. The host was very helpful and friendly with making sure we were happy with our accommodations.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. I would like to suggest two things. Upgrade the beds (Foam mattresses are very affordable) and spray property exterior. The sliding doors inside and out were covered at night with midges! Next morning many dead ones to clean up counter, floors etc. They don't bite Yay!
Owner was nice. Had me mail actual papers once I spent some time trying to get hold of him for changes needed. Spent 15 minutes trying to open 1960 key lockbox that wouldnt work until forced a bit. Contacted owner to let him know - was responded to at 11:30 at night. Glad we figured it out ourselves. Overall the place is just dingy, old, in need of repair…even for the price. The mattresses were discussing with stains of God knows what and possible mold on one. Black mold in bathroom ceiling. Couches stained, carpet was in desperate need of replacement and was not something to walk on barefoot if your are germaphobe . Part of the dock was rotting in spots where I had to keep my kids from going on it after I noticed. The pictures were very deceiving- no beach no real space other than dock for kids. The ‘beach’ was non existent. I’ll do more homework next time. Was a place to stay but I personally would never own a place like this and rent it out unless I replaced the mattresses, repair dock, yanked carpet and put in vinyl at the least. Has a spider problem that should be addressed inside.
