Sunny, bright living space in the downstairs of our lovely Asheville home.

The space
We spent the winter of 2015 designing and constructing a beautiful and bright downstairs apartment in our 1920 s Craftsman style bungalow in downtown Asheville. We are full-time farmers and full-time parents and are looking forward to hosting families, couples and friends in our new space. Our family lives upstairs and the downstairs apartment is one bedroom, one bathroom with large and bright windows throughout. The bathroom has the old cast iron tub original to the house, new fixtures, pedestal sink and travertine tile floors (throughout the apartment). The living area and kitchen are one room with brand new Ikea cabinets, bright yellow paint and radiant floor heat (throughout the apartment). The bedroom has a ceiling fan, open bookshelves, queen sized bed and a small closet for hanging your clothes. The living room has a double sized fold out futon for extra sleeping space. There is a lovely porch off the private entrance to the apartment for sitting in the evenings or whenever! Air conditioning now added.
Guest access
Entire apartment, including private: bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen and laundry.
Interaction with guests
We have lived (off and on) in Asheville since 2001 so we are very familiar with the area and our neighborhood. We re very happy to offer advice whenever needed. We are local organic farmers and are happy to provide restaurant and grocery recommendations for farm-to-table and local fare.
This listing does NOT have a stove or oven
Other things to note
Air conditioning now added.
This property is beautiful and very convenient to downtown. Communication with the owners was very easy and professional. Now the downside. This is a down stairs apartment and with that you expect some noise from above. If you’re a morning person then you won’t mind the 7am noise from upstairs. It sounds like you’re under a bowling ally. Other than that we enjoyed our visit.
It was just what we needed. We were there for a 3 day weekend for a quick kid free get away. It’s very close to down. It’s fully furnished with anything we would need. There was even some coffee for the pot! You can hear the family who lives upstairs some but it wasn’t bothersome and we weren’t there much. They are really nice and helpful. I did wish there was a full length mirror somewhere for getting ready to go out to dinner. But overall it was very lovely and cozy.
We really enjoyed our trip to Asheville and this property is super convenient to downtown. The owners were very nice and on top of communication. As it is a lower level unit below the main house, the noise from above can be an issue if you are someone that wants to sleep later than 7am. The mattress was not the most comfortable.
Apartment was clean and as advertised. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Location was quiet & convenient - except maybe for nighttime walking - best to Uber or Lift into town. Thanks!
The property as stated in other reviews is in a great location and host was very nice….but I want to give a review of the property. When you arrive there is a ramp to go down then 6 or so steps then walk area few more step going down with luggage and No HAND RAIL WAS AWFUL….bathtub had NO HANDRAIL hard to get out of . Furniture in living room could use a good cleaning futon smelled of sweat and held together with straps and screws. Only chair in living room dirty. To watch television had to go into bedroom and sit on bed all evening. And don’t get me started the mattress /box springs should be trashed and the comforter could use a good cleaning along with the fridge and entire apartment. We left a day early because the bed was so awful we needed a good nights sleep. Like I said location is great put prefer comfort as well
Nice and clean apartment below the main house. It has everything you need and the bathroom is really well put together. One thing to note is that there is no longer a stove in the kitchen. The hosts are very nice and attentive, however, they do have small children, which made our stay noisy in the mornings. We were in Asheville for a wedding and both mornings we were woken up at 6:30am due to the walking and moving upstairs. The hardwood floors do not help in this case so if you like sleeping in or are a light sleeper then keep this in mind and look elsewhere. If you are an early bird then you should not have any problems staying here.
This was a perfect fit for my sister and I to stay for a couple nights. Very clean and walking distance to all the breweries, restaurants and live music! The owner is very responsive, accommodating and helpful. I would stay here next time I come through Asheville!
The property was bare bones but very clean and the location was convenient to everything in town. The neighborhood was just a little concerning but we had a car. Don't know if I would walk around there at night however. We were there for a wedding which made a difference in comfort, if we were just there for the weekend to enjoy Ashville this property still would have been a bedroom with a TV, a bed, great hot water for a shower and that's about it. It was a very clean property with a great location and just a place to sleep with really no amenities. It was adequate!
No complaints! Exactly as described.
Clean one bedroom apartment, well equipped, in a quiet location. It is close to everything but may be not walking distance for everyone. We took the car and parked downtown (a 5 mn drive) to go to town. The host is charming and welcoming. Good value.
We were overall very pleased with this cute, clean apartment. The location was on a quiet tree lined street but within walking distance to lots of great breweries and restaurants. The space was the perfect size for us, with a full size kitchen and bathroom, cozy bedroom and looked just as it appeared in the listing. The apartment was clean and neat. The kitchen had most everything one could need to prepare and eat meals, although I could have used a whisk and my partner wished there were more eating utensils, but we worked around that. The owners provided lots of basic necessities in the kitchen and bathroom, which was awesome! The only downside we encountered was laggy internet service a few times, but again, we worked around it and had a very enjoyable time. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and hope to stay there again next time we return to Asheville.
