Gig Harbor, Washington
House, 2 Bedrooms , 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4) Plus one on a single couch fold out bed
Sunrise Beach is just 3.3 miles from the heart of Gig Harbor, restaurants and waterfront shops 7 minutes away, and 15 minutes from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The 180 degree water and mountain views are incredible from this glass front home,it is breathtaking! The Sunrise Beach enclave of 22 homes was established at the turn of the century. It was accessible only by boat until 1960. Eight homes down the beach still use the boardwalk along the beachfront side, to access their land locked waterfront summer homes.
Originally built in 1924 at the waters edge . This home was completely remodeled and features a beautiful kitchen with large great room all with 180+ degree views of the Puget Sound. The home has slate floors, granite counters and stainless appliances. Both bedrooms have queen size beds. We list the beach house as sleeps 4 but there is a hide-a-bed and the large comfy couch can sleep one if needed. Large bathroom with two sinks, slate double headed shower and washer. The home has a large wrap around deck at ground level and right on the water. A separate wood pier extends over the water with stairs to the beach. Two outdoor covered seating areas. One covered area has a couch right on the waters edge to enjoy the incredible view and enjoy the wildlife. The other covered outdoor area is tucked alongside the house next to the hot tub. There are heating blankets to stay cozy with your coffee or let you enjoy the beautiful views beyond sunset.
There is a brand new Weber BBQ to use for the grilling gourmet.
At low tide there are miles of walking beaches each direction - North and South - to collect shells and other treasures. At high tide the water splashes against the bulkhead . There is an up to 15 foot tidal exchange in the Puget Sound - much more than the 6 foot tidal exchange of San Francisco Bay for example. The Puget Sound, also know as the Salish Sea, has clear 57 degree salt water teaming with wildlife. Sunrise Beach county park is a short walk north (.15 Miles) . The best scuba diving spot in the South Salish Sea with a 30-60 foot deep reef running 200 feet along the shore (Google search Sunrise Beach Park WA Diving). Dive boats drop divers most weekends at the reef 7 houses down - fun to watch or join.
Sunrise Beach is on the Salish Sea and has the feel of part of the San Juan Islands (80 miles north by boat) without being locked on a small island with no amenities (like a coffee shop, wine bar, and wonderful restaurants). Tacoma waterfront restaurants are 10 minutes away by boat and 25 minutes by car. There are many great restaurants in Gig Harbor just 5 and 15 minutes away. Eagles, seagulls, seals, sea lions, harbor porpoise, otter, magnificent orcas, humpback whales, and white sided dolphin travel Colvos passage between the beach home and Vashon Island. Kayaks and boats travel by. This beach house is a paddlers paradise!! Stand Up Paddleboarders (SUP) use Gig Harbor and Sunrise Beach as a base for "paddle camping" and visit/camp dozens of beaches. You have a 180+ degree view of it all inside or outside of this beautiful home.

NO Parties or events, this is a quiet, close knit beach side community.
House had everything we needed and more. Being right in the water was fabulous. Gorgeous views and lots of wildlife.
This little house on Puget sound is wonderful, amazing, beautiful, peaceful and I need a Thesaurus to find more words. The deck is just steps from the water where we watched seals, a resident heron and even one Orca. We spent most of our time gazing out at the water, both from the deck and the picture windows inside. We can't thamk you enough for this amazing retreat.
do i need to say more? there is something insanely magical about this place. if i were to go into detail it would take way too much text. if you want something serene and a place that reminds you of the simple things. this is for you. in all honesty i tend to select vacation rentals with a little more of a luxury vibe. this wasn’t necessarily that. it wasn’t a villa on the florida coast. but it is a total gift that the owners let us stay in this place. there are one million little places to plunk yourself down and change your view and experience. it seriously felt like we just moved from hot tub to the outdoor sectional to the adirondack chairs staring at the sound, to the beach to laying on the lounger. when you were inside in the kitchen area ~ it felt like you were on a houseboat but better ~ without the rocking. i will come back here by myself for a respite. i will come back here with my sister every year. i will bring my grandbabies back. i’ve already planned what i’ll do with them. it’s a special place. and owners are wonderful.
My girlfriends arrived before I did and texted to say “this place is amazing”. And it was. Laura was so responsive and kind. We hope to come back again!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. We were able to experience really great weather and stormy weather, both showed beauty in there own way. The show outside of the window never disappointed, we saw sea lions eating fish, eagles and other birds flying by. We also saw some deer trying to snack on the neighbors flowers. This property is designed for rest and relaxation, we leave rested and rejuvenated. Thank you
The most delightful beach hideaway. I wish we were still there and we plan on returning soon. Laura thought of everything; we never left the property until we had too! ? Beach access, wildlife and sealife from the moment we arrived. Mt. Rainier came out for a peak. Very special.
This home is incredible and well taken care of. It exceeded my expectations. We had an incredible time with my 70 year old parents and 16 month old. Using the hot tub was complicated, took too much communication with the owner while we were trying to unplug and took a little away from the overall experience. Additionally we were out of the home by maybe 11:06 (checkout at 11) and got a call from the owner inquiring as to why we were still there (cleaners were waiting). That seems unreasonable and kind of left a bad taste in my mouth especially considering how much we spent on this property and we checked in late our first night. A bit of a buffer would have been appreciated.
The photos don’t do justice to how beautiful this house and view actually is. Our girls ages 10 and 12 who are usually snarky grumpy tweens oohed and aaahed and thanked me for renting such a great place!
I hate to write a review , because I want to keep this magical place all to myself . Truly the most restorative and peaceful rental I’ve experienced, right when our family needed it most . Thank you so much , we will be back .
The setting is amazing! We’ve never been more relaxed and appreciative of the natural beauty.
