The house was perfect for our family vacation. Having moved out of Maine approximately 5 years ago this home was the perfect place for our family to meet. Our children grew up going to a nearby camp and we kayaked Crescent Lake and the Tennyson River for years. The house was as advertised, had a well equipped kitchen, decks with killer views, loons in the evenings and a very responsive owner. We are look8ng forward to returning next year.
Overall the property, area is beautiful. The deck had a lot of pine needles on it but we have always camped so we were fine with that. Eric has the house set up to clean up the deck with a blower if need be. An added pleasure for us was seeing the chipmunks on the deck eating pine cones. The interior of the house was exceptionally clean and new. The living areas of the house are updated with great lighting (took some time to figure it all out) with many dimmers for all the lighting and amazing atmosphere. The bedrooms were dimly lit. The dim lighting in the bedrooms bothered some but not others. Bedrooms are for sleeping in my opinion so don't need great lighting. Beds were all very comfortable and right off the bat we settled in without the feeling anything had to be cleaned. There are numerous games in the house and fantastic wine and beverage refrigerators. The gas fireplace is operated by remote control as were the ceiling fans in the cathedral ceiling living room. The younger people in the group figured that stuff out. We had issues with the Hot tub not functioning properly and it was good two days, way too hot one day and took a significant part of the day to get the temp down but then couldn't get temp back up and stable until the following day. Eric was helpful and responsive to calls and emails. The hill to the lake is not an easy effort and will not be possible for the elderly but is doable even if you need to take breaks for less athletic people. I went up and down numerous times (at 62) each day as well as at night to go out fishing in my canoe (the property comes with available use of a canoe, paddle boards and a kayak). The dock is great as is the totally cool old boat house. Overall a pleasant and very comfortable stay for all with options to stay occupied for everyone from lazing on the deck, barbequing, boating, fishing (great fishing), swimming, games in the house in bad weather and within twenty minutes to everything you may need and around an hour to Freeport. Thank you Eric for deciding to VRBO.
We had a wonderful stay. 3 Moms and 5 children/teens. It was clean, plenty of space to spread out and the lake was a perfect place for a swim or a float. The porch was a great hang-out area for all and the walk down to the lake enabled us to get our steps in. There are plenty of resources within a 15 minute drive and yet you feel like you are away. No AC but the fans kept us cool enough. Would highly recommend this property.
