Great place to stay! 2nd floor balcony is secluded because of the trees. I saw local birds, squirrels, and chipmunks on the property. It also had several different wild flowers. Walking distance to the lake.
Nice home and nice location.
Let me start off by saying the house itself is beautiful and does look like the photos. Just know that Wi-Fi is spotty and there’s no reception. I don’t know about any else though since my boyfriend and I were unable to stay at this property. We got there during the evening and the second we walked inside the place smelled like propane. Within minutes we were both light headed and didn’t feel comfortable staying there even after trying to air the place out. It was a safety hazard. We called the property manager for the unit and they said they would have Vasasa (the property management company) call us to try and find us a new place to stay for the evening. They never called and we ended up getting a hotel in Reno super late that night. The property manager called us the next morning to tell us there was a leak coming from the fireplace but he thought he had it fixed and we would be able to stay there. By then we had already found other accommodations in order to try and salvage the rest of our trip. The property management company still hadn’t called so we called them to get a refund. They tried to tell us that the property manager takes care of that when he had already told us that is Vasasa’s responsibility. They said they would refund me for the whole four night stay, I have yet to see anything. Vasasa is a terrible property management company, it’s unfortunate that they manage so many of the rentals in the Tahoe area. Avoid if possible.
We had a great stay last summer in this cabin. It’s well-appointed, clean, and convenient to the local beach. The only issue we had during our stay was with their property manager, Vacasa. The listing promised access to a canoe but the property manager couldn’t provide details of how to access the canoe until after we had departed (took two days to get the info). Vacasa leaves a lot to be desired from a guest standpoint (everything was done over text and no one seemed to be local to the property). Luckily, a lovely Serene Lakes owner loaned us their canoe so we could enjoy the serenity of the two ice lakes.
When we arrived Friday, late afternoon, we went to the living room on the first floor and we found a blanket, an opened bag of cheetoh chips and 2 drinks near the couch. Also most of the beds had dog hair and didn't look clean. Other then that, the house is spacious and beautiful.
Pros: - close to soda springs resort - quiet neighborhood, small local sledding hill, house has sleds to borrow - spacious downstairs for kids to play / watch movies. Two sets of bunks that we did not use. - kitchen was reasonably equipped, fireplace worked well Cons: - water was turned off when we arrived without any instructions to turn it on. About 45m later and multiple calls to vacasa got it resolved. - faucets in the home were left on, without us knowing, and a slow drain upstairs caused the sink to flood into the kitchen, floodwater drip onto our luggage containing electronics - heavily stained sheet on master bed, appeared to be urine. No backup sheets that fit that bed. Had to overlap two twin sheets. - master bed is uncomfortable, sinks in the middle. We thankfully brought our own pillows. - thermostat programmed permanently to 55 degrees. Adjusting it to something comfortable worked only for a couple hours before it would revert to 55. We woke up to a cold and crying 2 year old. Eventually figured out to press “hold” on the thermostat to prevent that from happening; instructions would have been nice if the owner is going to program the schedule that low. - bannister from 2nd floor to 3rd floor not properly glued and comes out
All went well!
It's a lovely decorated property, but needs some love and care. Closet space is full of junk, no room to hang clothes, game shelf filled with games that are missing many pieces. A deep clean is needed, change light bulbs, dust off cob webs in light fixtures, get rid of musty damp smells, replace worn furnishings. With that said, the property has every amenity you want for your home away from home. Lovely kitchen well equipped, laundry facility is very handy. We were thrilled the homeowner's association's beach facility, a very nice bonus.
The house was comfortable and inviting. It felt very private, although it is in a neighborhood. We all had a wonderful stay!
This home is perfect for a family of up to 7 or 8. I loved the kitchen, well equipped, nice dinning room with a beautiful view. There's only 1 bedroom but there's a loft with 2 full beds and a playroom with a bunk bed and a sofa bed. The only issue I had was that the window in the loft doesn't close right, you cannot lock it, so I felt the cold air coming in right on my face all night because that's where the head of the bed is, so I got sick. The 3 restrooms are spotless, 1 of them with jacuzzi but the shower head in the jacuzzi didn't work. They have a cd player in the kitchen/dinning room with some CDs, so bring your wireless speakers. Wifi is not bad. Overall if they fix the window and the jacuzzi shower head I would definitely come back again. Also it would be helpful to have where to hang your jackets at the entrance. There's only a chair and a little bench where you have to pile up wet jackets now in winter. I loved this home and I would love to come back. The location is perfect, just 10 minutes away from Mount Boreal Ski Resort and 10 minutes to shopping center where's Safeway, Ace and some restaurants.
