Stayed Mar 29, 2026The host provided timely communication, and accommodated an early check in request. The home and its cleanliness fell far short of our expectations. Bugs, dirty coffee maker (still coffee in the pot), trash in the trash can, dirty grill (which we did not use), a hot tub that smelled of mildew and old water, and looking under dressers / etc to ensure the kids didn’t leave anything…well let’s just say there’s cleaning to do…were the main culprits. You can tell from the pictures, the house is really old (but it certainly has a lot of character), and in general the linens / mattresses / bedding materials seem to be at or past their useful life. As small example, I had a king size pillowcase and a tiny “pancake” for a pillow that didn’t fill 25% of the case. My son slept on a twin bed that had mattresses and toppers stacked on top of each other. While the description does say the house sits above 11 other homes, or something to that effect. I found the online pictures very deceiving. There is a road and at least three homes effectively in the backyard of this property. My search parameters were “lakefront”…and how this home sits / is positioned isn’t my definition of lake front. I’d personally consider it lake view. The windows on the back of the house and the porch are amazing. Unfortunately though, there weren’t window treatments/blinds in the living room / dining / kitchen area, making it uncomfortable to walk around after dark…particularly for my wife and daughter.

Stayed Feb 26, 2026We all just loved this place. We were blown away from the moment we entered the giant, open, multi-purpose room - serving as Dan, living room, dining room, sitting room, fireplace room and game room - with seating in this one area for at least 25. Big, Beautiful wood burning fireplace, extremely comfortable sofas and recliners, and instant surround sound music via Sirius XM on the stereo. Very well appointed and supplied with everything we needed for our trip, even including separate towels for the hot tub - which was awesome - clean and ready to go. We look forward to coming back in every season if we can to get a different view. Can't wait to see it with a canopy of leaves over the huge deck in the summer, with a blanket of snow in the winter, and the beautiful colors of Autumn from all the trees and mountains and lake sitting right outside the door. Also - great communications from this host!

Stayed Dec 24, 2025The host was welcoming and very responsive as needed. The home was very well stocked- there wasn’t anything that we needed that wasn’t there. We loved the open floor plan and space for everyone. The cabin feel with lots of wood and exposed wood beams made it feel charming. The outdoor space was plentiful and the views were fantastic. My daughter and her boyfriend enjoyed the privacy of the downstairs suite.

Stayed May 14, 2025Three generations of a family stayed here to attend our daughter’s/sister’s/granddaughter’s graduation from VirginiaTech, with ages ranging from 21 to 80. EVERYONE was happy with the accommodations (an often difficult feat!). The house has stunning views, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and the surrounding woods were serene and perfect for afternoon walks counting the numerous deer that populate the area. We could not get over how gorgeous and well maintained this property is. The living area is spacious and was able to accommodate groups of people clumped in various spots holding their own conversations or playing one of the many board games that were tucked away in the closet. The kitchen had every accoutrement imaginable, from pots and pans to mixers, knives, multiple sized bowls and platters, tons of spices and seasonings, and dozens of kinds of teas. We absolutely loved being here, and the host was so wonderful to communicate with. She reached out well before the trip, then again immediately before we left for the trip, and then on the day of arrival to let us know that the house was cleaned early and available for check in several hours in advance. We also really appreciated being able to bring our dog with us - he absolutely loved the lake and jumping from the dock. It was probably one of the last vacations we’ll get to do together as a family, and we couldn’t have asked for a better place or host to work with. Thank you, Alicia!!!

Stayed Oct 18, 2024The cabin and property were both beautiful. The home was clean and had a well-appointed kitchen. Upon arrival, the house had a strong, musty smell, but opening the windows and lighting candles rid the home of the musty aroma. My daughter has allergies, and I was concerned the scent would make it difficult for her, but she had no issues. There was a road and several small cabins between the home and the lake, but you could see between them to the water; only a small amount of the view was blocked. One of the bedrooms was not accessible from the home, but rather you had to walk outside and to the back of the house to enter that room. It was disappointing that the room could not be accessed from the main part of the house, but my son and his wife volunteered to take it so the rest of us could be upstairs with the baby. That separate space opened to a beautiful patio. There were two decks, one off the other; that was our favorite part of the home. There were built-in gates that kept the baby and the dogs on the decks, which made using that space more relaxing. The kayaks were under the deck, and no one wanted to pull them out, so we did not use them, but I assume that if we had, it would have made the stay even better. The owner was very communicative and eager to make our stay great. Overall, the home was beautiful, and we had a wonderful weekend.

Stayed Sep 7, 2024We stayed 7 days here for a family vacation. My grown kids, my parents, my husband and dog. The Lodge accommodated all of us. We fished everyday. We swam every day. Fixed huge family dinners every night. Then we chilled out in the hot tub at night. Thank you Alicia for opening your home. We will definitely be back! Maybe every year :)

Stayed Jul 20, 2024Our stay here was great. Home is exactly as described and well suited for anyone with mobility issues. Furniture was comfortable, kitchen was well stocked and was thankful to have linens, towels and beach towels provided. Host was easy to communicate with and very helpful. She definitely cares about her guests having a good time. Dock was very nice also. Boat sits down off dock so may be difficult for someone with mobility issues. Loved that we could drive right down to dock if we didn’t want to use stairs. Definitely recommend staying here.
