Steinhatchee, Florida
Our Steinhatchee GetAway home has 2 Bedrooms with 1 Bath and a 1 Bedroom /1 Bath Guest house. Both will sleep 6. The guest house is included with the rental. The house has a large screened porch and another porch that is not screened. A fish/scallop cleaning area is in a screened building with picnic table and grill. The home and guest house sit on a large lot with grape arbors, fruit trees, large oak trees and many large palm trees. We are only about 2.5 blocks from Roys Restaurant, Public boat ramp, Crabby Dads and Ideal Marine Supply.
The Steinhatchee River is a short boat ride to the Gulf of Mexico where the coastline is virtually untouched and protected with saw grass. Excellent fishing on the flats for Speckled Trout, Spanish Mackerel, and Red Fish. Offshore Grouper, Snapper and Amber Jack.
Scallop season (July 1st-September 25th) marks Steinhatchee's busiest season. It's great fun for the whole family. Just bring your mask and snorkel.

Everything was great. The washer and dryer was a life saver. Yard was big enough for vehicles and boat trailer. Having a grill was also a plus.
Wasn't very impressed with property. The cleanliness was not good at all. Ceiling fans were filthy. Dead roaches all over the place. The filters for the A/C units were caked with dust. Also, there wasn't many supplies such a toilet paper, paper towels, coffee, detergent, etc. We had to pick up alot from the Dollar General. Grass needed to be mowed. Would not stay here again.
Loved the location, house and yard was big enough for everyone nicely equipped. The owner was quick to respond to our needs. Will rent again.
Cottage was clean and well equipped with spacious yard for parking vehicles and boat trailer
We had a good time fishing and hanging out with old friends
This is the second year in a row for us! Had a little hiccup at the beginning. However Joe had everything ready for us the same day. Joe was a great host! Thank you!
My husband and I recently stayed 6 weeks at this property. We had never been to Steinhatchee, but were former residents of Tallahassee and were familiar with the Big bend area. We rented it to escape the frosty cold of upstate NY where we had recently relocated. The house was very roomy and met our needs very nicely for an extended stay. It was clean and fairly comfortable, my only issue being that we are older and the living room furniture was a little uncomfortable for us to get up out of after we had been sitting. You can blame our bad knees for that and not necessarily their furniture. However, this is a bit of a rustic setting, so if you are expecting luxury, this is not the place for you. Joe was a very attentive host and quickly responded to any concerns we had. This place is in a much less populated area of Florida and is heaven if you are a fisherman. However, there is little else to do here if you are not. The nearest big grocery store is about 35-40 minutes away, so it's a bit of a drive to any real shopping. However, for briefer stays, there is a little local grocery store that has an adequate supply and choice, and a few pretty good restaurants. I was a little dismayed to see so many confederate flags flying on golf cart during their massive crab festival held the last weekend we were there. I'm not so sure that would feel very welcoming to people of color.
Exactly what we needed for family.
Our stay at the Steinhatchee Getaway could not have been better. Comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen and laundry and fresh pink grapefruit from a tree in the yard! You can walk to the Gulf, Roys Restaurant and Crabbie Dads bar. Seahag marina and other restaurants are a short hop away in the car, walkable, but not in the heat!
Very nice place for the price
