Overall, great cabin, location, spacious and nice sledding hills for kids and close to ski lifts. The kitchen was nice. You need to bring some mixing bowls as there were none. Improvements: Could use a tv upstairs in loft. Couldn’t get the tv to work in master. Had issues with the heater the last 3 days of the trip and maintenance was quick to respond as temps were in the teens at night. Unfortunately the part they needed had to be ordered they did give us space heaters for when the heater wasn’t working. That being said, I would rent this property again.

My family and I stayed here in Cabin 42 for a week in early August 2020. It was a great place to use as a base to explore the Enchanted Circle of Taos, Red River, Eagle Nest, Questa, and Angel Fire. During this crazy time of COVID and social distancing, the NM state parks were closed to out-of-staters, but we were still able to find plenty to do by spending time in the federally-operated Carson National Forest. Some of the specific activities we found to do included hiking multiple trails in the Wheeler Peak Wilderness, fly fishing the Red River, taking a horseback trail ride in Angel Fire, spending time in the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument (even though the visitor center was closed, the land, roads, and trails could be accessed), hiking down to the Rio Grande to fish and enjoy the solitude, quiet, and majesty of the Grand Canyon of the Rio Grande, and summer tubing at the ski area in Red River. We also enjoyed just spending time on the deck in the mornings and evenings. While we were there, we saw deer every single day, including does, their fawns, and young bucks (we counted as many as 20 some days), rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, prairie dogs, hummingbirds, and more. The kids were enchanted. The property owners were friendly and responsive, however, the cabin’s VRBO listing could be cleaned up a little for the purposes of clarification. At the time we stayed, the listing showed photos of multiple cabins and their interiors that, while similar to the cabin we rented, included some differences which could potentially impact prospective customers’ decisions to select it. At the time we stayed here, cabin 42 had a king in the master downstairs, a queen in one of the upstairs rooms, and two twins in the second upstairs room. There was also a sleeper sofa in the main living area that could be utilized. There were no stools for use at the kitchen bar area, but the dining table was large and could easily seat 6 adults comfortably. The appliances were relatively new and in good condition, and the kitchen was well-stocked with the pots, pans, and utensils needed to cook for yourself (which we found extra handy during COVID). The knives could use a really good sharpening or replacement, however. The views of the mountains from the listing were a bit misleading. From cabin 42, you won’t get any kind of a sense of isolation, but you’ll still be able to enjoy the sunsets in the valley. Reasonably priced. Recommended.

The property was clean and neat. Roads were very well kept clean of any snow that fell. The home was very beautiful, clean, and maintained. Before you get there be sure to stop and get whatever groceries you may want to get. One draw back was the upstairs got warmer that the downstairs. Other than that very much enjoyed ourselves. Looking forward to a summer stay to enjoy the summer activities.

Awesome place for a family vacation. Everything went very smoothly. Washer and dryer didn’t work very well. Usually took a few hours to dry clothes. But, you are on vacation so who cares. Everything else was great. I would pack extra paper towels, trash bags etc. Yea you may need snow chains or 4-wheel drive if it snows to get up to the house. But if you are going on vacation in the mountains without one or the other and expect to be able to get around then that’s your fault for lacking common sense. We will for sure be back. Super close to the ski area and town and was a easy drive to Red River to go hangout as well. Out of all the places we have stayed while skiing this is def in the top 3. Plus Karen (the lady who owns the place) was also extremely helpful and informative about what to do, where to go and just about anything else you would want to know. We will be back next year

The cabin was somewhat secluded, but close enough to town to make it enjoyable. Saw a lot of wildlife including deer and elk.

My family and I had a great time! The cabin was perfect and had everything I needed and more. It was only minutes from anything in town and the ski lifts. The view from the porch is mesmerizing and relaxing. The only thing I would change is the comfort of the bed and pillows. They are a bit hard. Other than that, I would definitely reccommmend it!!

This was a wonderful place to have a family vacation. The cabin was a great price and fit us perfectly! It is very accessible to the ski area and has great amenities. Angle Fire is also close to many other small towns in New Mexico, so it was fun getting to do some shopping and other fun activities in the surrounding area! This place is like my home away from home. Great for both winter time and summer time!
