Bar Harbor, Maine
Bar Harbor is a magical place and 'Sunset' is the perfect home from which to enjoy all it has to offer. Walk into town to shop or eat, bike into Acadia National Park, kayak off the sand bar, board a boat to fish or whale watch or simply relax and enjoy the view from the back porch. You will find that everything is easily accessible from this spectacular home built in 1910 and listed on the National Historic Registry.
Sunset features 2 king bedrooms, 1 queen bedrooms, 3 full bedrooms and 2 bedrooms with 2 twins. It has 7 full bathrooms. We have 2 futons in the TV room on the 2nd floor and a twin bed in the TV room on the 3rd floor. We do limit adults to 16 but will allow up to 18 if small children are included.
For those not able to handle stairs, we have a sitting room with a full sized bed on the first floor along with a full bathroom not included in the count above.
Enjoy sunset on the glassed in back porch or on the patio, both overlooking the beautiful garden and Frenchman's Bay.
Beautiful and spacious home. Within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor. Weather was pretty rainy with Tropical Storm Lee just off the coast. Thank goodness for this spacious home. Plenty of space for grandkids to play.
Everything about the stay was great. Right next to downtown and the walk to Bar Island. A huge house with everything you need. Simple check-in and friendly hosts!
I had never been to Bar Harbor and spent hours scrutinizing various locations, trying to figure out if this house was in a “good spot”. I will save you the work - it is!!! We LOVED this house and you cannot get any closer to restaurants, boats, beaches, lobster, shops, ice cream and more! Yet it still feels private. It’s a gorgeous house with everything you could possibly need. We loved being so close to the sandbar and spent hours everyday on the back porch. Easy drive to Acadia. We were pleasantly surprised to see fans and air conditioners running when we got there in August. Overall, just the most magical place to spend time with family and friends! My favorite Vrbo property to date!!
There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well equiped. Some of our family members we’re working online and there were several areas to insure privacy etc. close to shopping , interesting places to eat.
Perfect location! Being only a short walk into town was great! No worries about parking. More than enough room to accommodate our guests comfortably. just a beautiful space and comfortable stay.
Location was excellent. Very historic property and extremely unique.
Our family had a wonderful stay for a long holiday. The home's location is great -- walking distance to everything in town and a short drive in to Acadia. The home is incredibly comfortable; even in the late fall during a colder spell, we had no concerns about heat despite the age of the home. The owners were easy to contact and quick to respond. Would absolutely recommend!
Wonderful week in Bar Harbor! 10 adults (3 couples and 4 singles) enjoyed the close proximity to town, shops, grocery store and restaurants- all walking distance. Dining table big enough for us all! Lots of places in the house to gather and we especially enjoyed the patio and sunroom. Thank you for a great time in your historic home!
The good. Location, location, location. Wonderful space for large groups. Beautiful home. The bad. The owners should invest money in repairing thing like broken toilet tissue holders, rugs with holes, very dirty couches and moldy shower curtains. The ugly, the property management company should check their cleaners. So much dust, even in the bath tubs. If you are going to charge a large cleaning fees then it should be clean and the guest should not be responsible for doing the laundry and putting all the dishes away after the dishwasher finishes but before you leave. Overall, loved the property and would stay again.
We are all so glad we choose this property instead of our first choice 2 years ago. (Thank you Covid!!) I hadn't even realized that the sand bar was just down the street from the back yard. Walking to everything was a huge help when you have 14 people. Just 4-5 blocks got us where we needed to be. Grocery store is only 2 blocks away. Lots of space in the house for all of us and the backyard was great for the grandkids to run off all their energy. We all went to the beach every day looking for sea creatures- and found some. 2 families rented ebikes just down the street and rode out to Acadia. This historic home was a joy to stay in!! Would recommend to everyone!!
The home is perfect for multiple families or friends. Kitchen is well equipped, and home amenities are all provided. The only suggestion I would make is to add window AC units for the 3rd floor bedrooms. Other than that, the house is perfect. Our family hopes to return in the future. Thank you for an amazing vacation!
Fantastic location and lots of space ! It was a bit too warm with no AC in August!
Perfect spot for family getaway. Location can’t be beat. Lots of space, great yard for BBQ and lots of outdoor games.
This property was so fun! Beautiful views and could walk to everything. Perfect location and well appointed with everything you would need. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Had a wonderful stay.
Had a great experience July 2022. Big house with lots of rooms, great location and well stocked. Easy walk to downtown Bar Harbor and grocery store and bike rentals, shopping, etc. Right by the land bridge. Plenty of yard space.
We loved the quirky old house. The beds were incredibly comfortable. The location was ideal - right on bridge street by bar island access. Easy bike ride to Acadia. House was very well stocked. Great for a big group.
