Boise, Idaho
Custom Lindal home built in 2006, located on 18 pristine acres in the mountain residential community of Wilderness Ranch, just northeast of Boise off of Highway 21 on the way to historic Idaho City. Spectacular views of the entire river valley and unparalleled opportunities to see a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, elk, fox and black bears. A redwood deck running along the entire back of the house offers views of the surrounding wilderness from a variety of vantage points.
Inside enjoy central air conditioning or a wood-burning fireplace (depending on the season, of course!), a 42-inch plasma television with basic DirecTV subscription, a VCR/DVD player, an Alexa smart speaker and a collection of board games. Wireless internet is available.
The kitchen is out-fitted with top-of-the-line GE appliances, including a Monogram double oven, a Profile gas stove and a side-by-side refrigerator with ice and water in the door. It is also fully stocked with all the dishes, flatware, pots, pans, appliances and cooking utensils needed to prepare and serve any meal. A counter-high hard-wood dining table provides seating for up to six.
Sleeping accommodation includes a cathedral ceiling master bedroom with access to the deck and a king-size Simmons ComforPedic bed. The master bath has a soaking bath tub with a large picture window providing a great view of the wilderness as well as a separate large shower made from rock slate. The second bedroom features two high-quality twin beds and a full-size futon bed with ensuite bathroom. The third bedroom doubles as an office, with a twin-size day bed. A light-weight twin-size roll-away bed is also available, allowing a total of seven to be accommodated comfortably.
Wilderness Ranch has privately maintained dirt roads and the road leading to the house is narrow and steep in some places. While a two-wheel drive vehicle is fine for accessing the house most of the year, we highly recommend a four-wheel drive vehicle with studded snow tires and/or chains during the months when there is likely to be significant snow on the mountain (November through March). There can be significant climatic differences between Boise and Wilderness Ranch. Even when there is no snow on the ground in Boise, the roads at the ranch can be snow covered and icy. Also during periods of heavy rain (spring and fall), the roads can become muddy and difficult to transverse.
Final note: The map may show Bogus Basin ski area as close-by, but those roads are not open in winter. To get to Bogus Basin, you need to drive into Boise and then back out. Trip takes about 90 minutes.

The pictures don’t do it justice! Beautiful home - comfy and well equipped. The views are amazing! Don’t think twice - Just make the reservation!
Our stay was as enjoyable as usual. We are repeat guests at both of Bill’s properties and we always enjoy the hospitality and friendliness Thank you! LeRoy
This was such a wonderful getaway. The home had everything, very comfortable and clean, with stunning views.
Loved staying at this property, was our 2nd time in 2 years Would definitely come back. Great views, beautiful house
This property is has beautiful views. We enjoyed watching the elk feed on the hillside in the evening feeding. Had an enjoyable stay and will defiantly stay again.
This trip was planned for rest and relaxation. Perfect score! The views are amazing. The home was laid out so you can see the hills/mountains from every room. We didn’t turn on the TV once. Books, games, reading- thats it. We brought binoculars hoping to see some wildlife. Nice relaxing getaway!
We love staying at this place my second time here. If we come back to the area we will stay again if it’s available.
Great vacation location, nestled in the top of the mountain. Lots of wildlife around, quiet, and a fun place to rest and relax.
This property was fantastic. We were attending a wedding in Nampa but we're kind of outdoorsy people and didn't want to stay in a hotel in the city. The house itself was very comfortable but the view is the real selling point. Just fantastic. One morning we watched the clouds move over the mountains at the same elevation as the house as some light rain came and went. We had a full-size 4x4, so the dirt road and the steep climb was not a concern, although I would be concerned under icy conditions. 4 wheel drive was not required to get to the property and I would think any normal car could make it just fine under normal conditions. Take a look at the property on Google maps before you go to familiarize yourself with the area and the entrance to the property. having looked at Google ahead of time, we didn't have any problems finding it.
Super
Loved this stay, amazing view, peaceful. My AT&T phone worked fine, no problems with internet or phone reception. If using GPS dont follow the Hummingbird entrance to the mountain, its a private road, use the next entrance, Rush Creek off highway 21.
This is our 2nd time staying. We love the view and the layout of the house. This time it seemed less clean and there wasn't any hand soap in one of the bathrooms. We do love sitting on the deck and watching the wildlife!
The property and the views were simply amazing. Couldn’t ask for a better place.
Bill and Nancy were excellent hosts, very accommodating and very available Our entire travel was significantly disrupted by circumstances not in our control, and the owners were very understanding and accommodating Highly recommend renting one of their properties
So we decided we just needed a different place to get focused besides the office and this was perfect not to far, beautiful views and very comfortable.
??
Loved the view. Night sky was outstanding. We drive 4WD truck so road was no problem.
What a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of work. This house was great. The views were spectacular! We will be back and will definitely recommend it to others.
Great location in the foothills of the mountains with beautiful views. Clean, quiet, spacious and fully stocked. Would stay here again.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet, the views from the deck and lots of wildlife in the area!
We like to stay in properties that are away from busy residential areas. This beautiful home fit the bill; in fact, it’s a 35-minute drive (give or take) from Boise proper, and a bit of a slog up a steep, winding dirt road at the end to reach the house. Totally worth it. The views from the balcony are breathtaking. We enjoyed gazing out at the river and surrounding hills throughout the day, watching the change of light and shadows. And it was wonderfully quiet, with the birds and the breeze providing our evening soundtrack. The house was very clean and comfortable. The king sized bed was quite comfy. And the master bath was wonderfully spacious, with a very wide double sink (lots of counter space—yay!) and a lovely stone tiled shower. A large walk in closet and a wide dresser provided plenty of storage for our clothes. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare several meals. And a full-sized washer and dryer really came in handy after multiple day hikes. Mandi, the property manager, was responsive and easy to work with. On the day we first arrived she even met us at the entrance to Wilderness Ranch to guide us up the hill to the house. Thanks, Mandi!
We enjoyed the views from this home. The home was comfortable and well supplied. Although the AC was out, opening windows gave us a cooling breeze.
This was our second stay at this gorgeous home and location. It was just as wonderful this stay. The house is equipped with everything you need for a great stay and, you can’t beat the view! Thank you for a perfect 20th anniversary stay. Tammy Whiteman
Our second visit to the wonderful spot among the trees. We will be booking our 3rd season very soon. We came for our honeymoon this go-round and of course we already knew we wouldn’t be disappointed. Some rain and clouds moved in and we were comfy as ever. Thanks again!
We spent 5 days at this beautiful house and enjoyed every minute. It is very well equipped, we didn‘t miss anything. The views are breathtaking! Should we ever get the chance to come back - we will. Karen and friends from Germany
Easy; exceeded our expectations.
This was our second stay within a few months. Enjoyed the quiet time and watching the wildlife. Very much enjoyed the beautiful views and the changing seasons.
The views that this home has are simply beautiful. The property manager was extremely friendly and very helpful. The home was immaculate, very warm and inviting. My wife and I actually have plans to return to this home and bring our entire family with us for our next trip. We highly recommend this rental to anyone looking for a getaway with incredible views.
