Our house is a magnificent, well designed contemporary located in the heart of the Green mountains. The location is ideal for someone who wants to experience towering mountains, or perhaps navigate the pristine, clean waters of lakes and rivers, but also benefit from the modern conveniences of well-paved roads, superior restaurants, swimming pools, and championship golf courses. After a hard day of skiing, golfing or hiking, imagine yourself soaking in an outdoor hot tub with friends under astarry sky surrounded by evergreen and birch trees with the scent of wood smoke from the fireplace. Situated on a ridge overlooking Killington Peak, it is in a private, tranquil setting but within walking distance of bars, restaurants and the shuttle.
The house at 148 Birch Lane is very spacious [2,000 sq ft.] with a great room that has a cathedral ceiling with ceiling fans and 3 large skylights. It sleeps 8 people. It has 2 bedrooms with queen beds on the upper level and both bedrooms on the1st floor each have single or twin beds that can also be joined together to accommodate couples. There are 3 bathrooms and a laundry room. The bathroom walls are tiled with glass enclosed showers and granite counters. Also, there is a 6-person hot tub and a gas grill on a huge rebuilt outdoor deck that overlooks the Killington ski trails. It also has all the amenities you need to make your stay comfortable such as a game table, wireless internet, a DVD and CD player and a large, flat screen high-definition TV. The large eat-in kitchen is fully equipped with all the gourmet tools that you need. There is plenty of room for parking in the driveway. A new living room carpet has been installed, along with high quality living room furniture. The house has propane heat and a Russo wood stove that shows the fire through a large glass panel and adds a warm ambience to the interior.
SPRING/SUMMER, FALL. A misconception about Killington is that it is a winter resort only. It could not be further from the truth. You will have access as my guest to a town recreation center located in a pristine Killington valley surrounded by green mountains. There you'lll be able to use a large outdoor heated swimming pool , tennis courts, and a baseball/ soccer field. You will have access to the Killington golf course and several miles away the highly rated Green Mt. course. Crystal and Echo Lake swimming is about 15 minutes away where there are sandy beaches, snack bars, and boat rentals or you could swim in naturally carved out pools in mountain streams. Shopping and site seeing can be found in Woodstock, Quichee Gorge, Rutland and Manchester. Other activities include hiking, biking, mountain biking on Killington trails, kayaking or tubeing the rivers or canoeing Kent Pond. Short day trips can be ,done to Burlington, Lake Champlain, Warren (Sugarbush, Stowe or Ludlow [Okemo]. Recently, Killington added a huge Activities/Fun park for the entire family that offers disc golf, a zip line, motorized mountain tours, bungee jumping, coasters and other amusements.
Please respond ASAP as the house in in demand, especially during Winter weekends. We get a lot of repeat renters so the earlier you book a rental, the better. Thanks, Wally Gernt

We had a wonderful stay! The host replied fast enough whenever we reached out and even sent local area information ahead of time, which helped us plan our days. The house was very spacious and in an excellent location—only about a 6–8 minute drive to both Snowshed and Ramshead, which was perfect for skiing.A few things to note: you do have to make your own bed upon arrival. Also, the mattresses were quite old with little support in the middle, and the pillows were initially unusable. The host replaced the pillows with brand-new ones the next day, which we really appreciated. The main bathroom sink was clogged at first, but after they used Draino the following day, it worked fine for the rest of our stay.Overall, our family had a great time. With some updates to the bedding, this place would be even better.

We had a wonderful, relaxing visit. The house was clean and inviting, and the location was quiet and secluded, yet close to everything Killington has to offer. We especially appreciated the wood stove, well stocked wood pile, and the hot tub. The kitchen was fully stocked both with utensils and pantry essentials, and Wally's welcome email provided lots of information for things to do/places to go. In looking at other reviews, I see that others have recommended that additional throw blankets be provided in the living area, and we second that recommendation. We also noted that no face cloths or dish cloths were provided, and we only had one bar of soap in one of the bathrooms. We also wished there was a box of tissues, and a hair dryer would have come in handy. But all in all, we loved it, and would definitely return in the future. Thank you, Wally.

Communication was great. Check in was easy. Property as described. Host came to check on us to make sure our heat was working. It ended up being plenty warm and he got us extra towels when we asked. Hot tub was a plus. Nice and clean. Only recommendation would be a few extra blankets to have access to for the bed and couch.

This is our second year in a row renting this house. Plenty of room for 2 families of four and the location to Killington ski are is perfect. The wood stove is great for drying out ski gear and plenty of room for cooking and eating for 8. Communication with Wally was clear and responsive. Another great ski getaway!

The good:-Location could not be better. It was an easy 10 minute drive to Killington's skyeship gondola, which was a great spot if you want ample parking!-Living room area had enough seats for everyone to relax and play games, watch tv, etc. We had 8 people total. House also seemed very clean.-The hot tub was extremely hot, which was perfect after skiing all day.The bad:-The hot tub area desperately needed a mat to be provided. Between hot tub water spilling out of the sides (which happened with just a few people in the hot tub) and the massive icicles beginning to melt during the sunny days, by day 2 the entire walk to the hot tub was a complete sheet of ice and almost impossible to walk on. Definitely a safety concern. A rubber grip mat would solve this problem.-I'm surprised this issue hasn't been resolved, as other reviews even years ago were saying the same thing, but there is not enough towels provided. And for what you're paying, the least that could be spared is a few hot tub towels. Everyone is provided one bath towel, one hand towel. No face cloths provided. No hot tub towels provided. -No blankets provided, just a comforter (that seemed dirty) and sheet blanket. Linens/mattresses seemed stained and not super clean. Also just an FYI - 4WD/AWD required. Street/driveway is packed snow at the bottom of a hill. This would definitely be an issue depending on the car, so plan accordingly!

Incredibly close to the ski resort! 5 stars overall but a few things of note: the house is down a private drive and 4 wheel drive cars are HIGHLY recommended. Linens (though worn for wear and some with some discoloration) are provided (1 per guest), so would bring extra towels if you’re planning to avail yourself of the hot tub. Would absolutely return to the property

What an outstanding home and location. If you are looking for a quiet location nestled in the heart of Killington mountain, this is the perfect home for you and your family. Four big bedrooms and a huge open area allowed us to really enjoy family time. The owner allows use of the wood stove which brought back great memories, and we used it every night. Although we didn't really get an opportunity to use it, the jacuzzi looked wonderful. We had great communication with the owner and had ZERO issues during our stay. When we return to Vermont, we will rent this place again. Perfect location, perfect home!

Went up to have a fun guys extended weekend with coming gaming buddies. We played table top and video games. Went in the hot tub. Relaxed and chatted. It was the perfect house to have a chill reset kind of weekend while also being very social. The number of bathrooms and bedrooms was great for our group of six big guys. Everybody had their own space whenever they needed it; and the open floor plan of the downstairs kept the entire experience social whether people were grabbing some food, playing a board game, out in the hot tub or inside watching some tv. The place is great and I highly recommend any group looking for a retreat friendly location.
