Just completed a weekend getaway, and this was a wonderful place to stay. You know those rentals that look pretty but feel sterile and generic? Solace in the City is not that. Decorated with artwork and crafts from Asheville’s thriving art scene and filled with artifacts and treasures—minerals, rocks, arrowheads, literature, and ephemera collected from a life well traveled—the space feels welcoming, interesting, and comfortably lived-in in the best way.The beds were comfortable and supportive, and the linens were high-quality, 100% cotton, making for a peaceful night’s sleep free from synthetic sheets. We were even treated to a bit of local character—a nocturnal nearby bird that serenaded us with its full repertoire of calls through the night. The kitchen is spacious and well appointed, and the communal areas are open and inviting. Wi-Fi was reliable, and if TV is your thing, there are plenty of streaming options, including Netflix. The star of the show is the expansive front porch, perfectly aligned with the setting sun. We loved sitting there during golden hour, watching the sun dip below the horizon while live bluegrass music drifted down the street from a nearby brewery. It’s hard to imagine a better way to end the day.Location-wise, Solace in the City is within easy walking distance of excellent coffee, breakfast, and breweries. A short stroll to Sunny Day Café was a highlight—an outstanding plate of food. Heywood Common is even closer and makes for a great casual

The place was immaculate with a spacious and nicely stocked kitchen. The porch was amazing. Check-in was a breeze, and the location was close to so many shops and breweries. My family of four had the perfect vacation here!

the house was very clean, the kitchen was stocked with supplies I did not expect like coffee, sugar, salt, pepper, etc. The only two issues we had is that we are all over 70 and did not realize that it was not handy cap accessible and two of us just had hip replacements so it was extremely difficult to climb the the stairs. The other issue would be the very low couch which nobody could it on and get up from. We would stay there again though.

We came to Asheville for a sister’s weekend and this solace in the city was perfect for our needs. The location was fantastic and we enjoyed many of the great places to eat in the neighborhood. Joe was an attentive host and a phone call away if needed. Considering the youngest in our party was turning 40, we argued (in good nature) over the blue couch, as it was definitely more comfortable than the gray couch. The driveway was as busy place as it’s a shared property but we didn’t have any issues. Overall, we had a lovely time.

This property had everything that we needed for a few days away to celebrate a milestone anniversary. Location was awesome, it was within short walking distance to bars/breweries and short driving distance to wherever we wanted to go in Asheville. All the recommendations that were left around were amazing. We tried many of the places y’all recommended and they did not disappoint. Appreciate all of the instructions within the house, made things super easy. The front porch was definitely one of the favorite places to hang out, bird watching and thunderstorms.

We 3 sisters had a wonderful experience at our home. It was close enough to walk to restaurants and entertainment in the evening after sight seeing in Ashville during the day. The hot tub was a huge hit and the home was clean, inviting, had wonderful areas to enjoy coffee and down time, and our host had so much information and recommendations of things to see and do during our stay. We highly recommend this home for a great vacation!!

Great location in west Asheville. Even after Helene there were many walkable options for food and beverage. It was a quick drive to downtown or the Crowne Plaza where we were attending a conference. Hot tub was a delight! Lots of great instructions/maps/recommendations posted in the rental. We hope to be back!

Everything was PERFECT! The owner has created a creative, cozy, comfortable vibe that was hard to leave when our trip was over. The area has so much to offer & the owner provided a plethora of resources that were very helpful & made our decisions easy to make. Great food & music literally right around the corner & so much to do within walking distance & it was a short drive to downtown. After an awe inspiring drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway & a few short hikes in Pisgah Forest it was delightful to soak in the hot tub.I cannot wait to return to this place again next year!
