Don’t stay here! Not many positives from the trip. The location is relatively far outside of Edinburgh and getting Ubers was very difficult. Make sure you rent a car if you stay here. The house was very dirty and smelly. There were empty beer cans in the cabinets, dirty curtains and walls, and the kitchen was missing so many essential items that it was difficult to cook even basic things. Every door in the property sticks which makes opening and closing doors very loud. The bathrooms didn’t even have hand towels to use to dry your hands. The WiFi was extremely slow and host would not address the issue. The host was extremely slow to communicate and blamed it on having too many properties to manage. Seriously, find another place to stay.

Lessons were learned with this stay. Pictures online were accurate and ratings were good. That’s about where the listing ended. We had 6 people and caught a taxi from Waverly. It was a 30 minute drive. The house smelled of mildew and there were water stains on the wall in the kitchen, which we overlooked at first. We tried to work with the central heat to increase the temp, but even after googling the instructions never got it to go above 19 C (66 F). I reached out to ask about the heat and maintenance came while we were exploring Edinburgh. It did not fix the issue, but it did result in the loss of hot water the next day. We again were out on a tour and after sending multiple messages on the status did not get a reply. We retuned to the house and found we had hot water again, but by then the grandparents and teenagers had had enough. It became obvious that the mildew smell, stains, heat and water are all a related issue with the house. We also noticed that there were fingernail clippings on the floor, which led to wonder how well it had been cleaned. I do not feel like we are overly fussy, but we had so many issues we left early and checked into a hotel. Additionally if you are looking to explore, Edinburgh this place is not close at all. Travel by train is at least 40 both ways and it is difficult to get taxis. If you chose this location, rent a car.

This duplex did not quite meet our expectations. While there were enough beds (incl. the sofabed), the unit was very small for our group of 7. The dining table & living room seated only 4 respectively. Upon arrival, we opened the back door & was overpowered by the smell of cannabis, so we had to keep it shut until we couldn’t smell it anymore. The unit is in a housing estate, with many similar units in quite close proximity - so every window or door looks towards other units. The washing machine was not easily accessible in a store room with a few things stored in front of it. And the room had a water stained wall (kitchen-shared) & smelled musty, so we didn’t feel comfortable going in it to use it.We thought the kitchen was ill-equipped. Among others missing basics, it had no drinking glasses, and had only one teaspoon. One of the bedrooms had a wall mirror with a broken frame, which looked like it could fall out if accidentally bumped. Some pictures had broken frames & were water-damaged. My 7 year old was afraid that one next to his bed would fall on him, so asked for it to be taken down. The flat sheets covering the beds were 3-4 inches too short on the top and bottom ends. One mattress was badly pilled & we had to lay towels over it so we don’t feel the bumps. Otherwise, we slept on it fine. The bathroom with the spa bath was a pleasant surprise. We made do for the 2 nights that we were there but think the above (bar the location) should be addressed.
