We were 27 strong - 17 adults, ages 30 - 93 and 10 children, ages 5 months - 11 1/2 years. We rented both houses on this wonderful property. We had rain for several days at the start of our vacation, but the grassy area between the houses was great for setting up soccer and whiffle ball games, splash pads and water tables for the littles. Kids don't mind the rain. The homes were as spacious as advertised inside, with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The screened in porches provided yet another venue for gathering in smaller groups. With a grocery store around the corner and a gourmet grocery shop across the street, a cute farm and table gift shop and several restaurants within walking distance, the location was perfect! The homes are well-stocked with anything you might need, and the outdoor storage area had plenty of equipment for play at the beach. Deborah was immediately available for any questions or concerns we had. Wehad a lovely stay!
We enjoyed our college reunion at this property. Only thing missing was the owner's willingness to work with our request to check-in couple of hours early. We ended up paying extra for entire day just to get in couple of hours early. Also, owner dinged us with damages which were not justified. She probably has her reasons to run her business like that and I do respect it. This property manager has lot of rules, make sure you read them thoroughly and understand your responsibilities, if you want to avoid additional charges at the end.
A great long weekend with friends. Plenty of rooms, large central hangout spots, and a market right around the corner!
We had planned a family reunion for several years and the pandemic kept interfering in our plans. The owner of this property was fabulous, easy to communicate with and very helpful leading to a fabulous week in Maine. Our family was able to be all together, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries and remember some family members who we lost in the past few years. It was a trip we will always look back on with very fond memories of all being together in perfect accommodations. You can't go wrong staying here... it's a perfect place for a large extended family!
The place is as good as advertised Would love to come back for another Xmas vacation!!
This house was awesome for our family to get together for a weekend to celebrate our mother. The houses are well maintained and are in a great area. Deborah was great throughout the entire process, she gave great recommendations on things to do in the area. We can't wait to go back to Cape Porpoise!
We had an absolutely wonderful experiences in Cape Porpoise. What a gem of a community; there are several establishments within a very short walking distance. We rented both Lupine Lodge and Chickadee Cottage, and both were amazingly beautifully decorated rental that were extremely welcoming and pleasing. We had a total of 30 women from the age of 60 - 73. The two houses had all the bedrooms and bathrooms anyone could ask for adult comfort with king and queen beds! There were a few bunks, but our numbers allowed our participants to use the top bunks only for storage. The landlord made our dreams come true and took good care of us in a time of GREAT uncertainly. There was EXCEPTIONAL communication with the owner available to us through email, text, VRBO and even cell phone communication. She endured our numerous questions and concerns, and she always gave us the answers we sought. Her instructions and expectations were clear for us through her postings, agreements, and communication. She was a peach! We are forever grateful of the opportunity to create lasting memories of our shared time at these exceptional properties in Cape Porpoise, Maine.
My family rented both of Deborah's houses for a week and we all loved it. They both are basically brand new, very clean and have plenty of room. The houses are decorated very nicely with each bedroom unique which added to the charm. The houses are supplied with everything you will need but food so it is very easy just to move right in. I can't say enough about how much room there is in the common areas, very easy for a large group to cookout or play games. The porches and patios also are great for some more private time or just to have a relaxing drink. The location is perfect too. There are restaurants within walking distance but also many more with just a short drive. There is a nice country supermarket just a 2 minute walk away which has everything you will need including lots of adult beverages. It is slightly more expensive but worth the convenience if you need something. If you are throwing a larger event like we were, you most likely will want to do it at The Atlantic Hall which is just a 2 minute walk away. It is an historical old building that once was a fire station and it was perfect for us. There is also a caterer across the street from the hall so things couldn't have been more perfect. I have to say that renting these houses is some of the most fun my family and I have ever had so I would definitely recommend them. I will just add that the owner, Deborah, is very gracious and will do whatever it takes for you to have a great time. We are very glad we chose these houses.
May family and I had the privilege of renting this house at the end off 2020, with such abnormal times and with a hard diagnosis for my father, we thought it was time to get our close family together and enjoy the time we have. This house is so beautiful and well maintained. Debra did a wonderful job to help accommodate us and answered any questions that we had. Kennebunkport center is a magical place in the winter with beautiful Christmas lights lighting up the town. Truly a scene from a movie.
The property was very nice in a quiet neighborhood. The lawn between the 2 homes was nice for lawn games. The kitchens were well stocked and the sleeping quarters adequate for our group of 31. There is no pool, game room or theater room. It was a 15 minute drive to the beach which requires a $25 per day parking fee. We were disappointed that when we took a trip to visit the property a year ahead to plan for our family reunion that the owner / manager forgot and the property was occupied when we arrived after were told it would be open for viewing. When we expressed our surprise and disappointment with not being able to see the premises, the owner threatened to cancel our reservation. We could not based on the extensive planning necessary for our large group. If you rent this property, we recommend you photograph all of the furniture on check in as we were accused of stealing or breaking a ceramic table which were never saw. We were charged for the item out of our deposit and accused of lying about it. It left a very poor feeling about an otherwise very nice week.
