beautiful and quiet. Almost like a mini museum. If you want a peaceful location where you can rest, relax and read, this is the place. Beautiful loft area to.
I was in the Wolfboro area to attend a reunion of a summer camp I attended back in the 1970's so I did not spend a lot of time at the Old Church but the time I spend there was very nice. There was something interesting everywhere I looked.
Beautiful decor, but uncomfortable, not made for spending time in. Bedrooms are small although common space is huge and beautiful, the furniture is made to be looked at, not sat in or lain on although I must say that the beds are exceptionally comfortable. Location is right next to parking lot of Child Advocacy center, and the blue room is adjoining. Parking lot noisy during weekdays, not weekends. The other room, brown room, smelled of mildew so I had to ask to be moved out of it. Also, there is no air conditioning in the main space, although there are acs in the bedrooms so if its at all warm outside the main space is exceptionally warm and stuffy. Showers are awkward, hot water lasted about 7 minutes, but taking a bath probably would've been okay.
Great place to stay. I really enjoyed the closeness to the lake and walking trails. The property was lovely and the hosts attentive.
This is a very interesting, nice place to stay, and I enjoyed it. John communicated very well.
It was unique and fun!
My husband and I were just in town for a night and loved our stay in the historical church. It was so unique and felt like you were back in time. Owners were accommodating and friendly. Even mailed me a pair of earrings I left behind. Would definitely recommend!
We have stayed at the church a number of times and will make it our stopping place as long as we can. John and Kirk are delightful to deal with. The location is perfect for us. The descriptions ln the listing are spot on but can't do it justice, you have to see it. What else can I say, it's our place, when we go through wolfeboro
So many thoughts.......but only 2490 characters to use. Let's get right down to business. The Old Church. So many places, we've stayed, are interesting but not comfortable. And so many places are comfortable but not interesting. This is not one of those places. So interesting, you could spend hours looking around the building and all of it's contents. And comfort.....like home. A full kitchen. A very comfortable bed (to quote Kirk...or was it John?......We didn't skimp on the mattresses.) Quite so. A nice deck to sit on and watch the world. Almost perfectly centrally located. Go a few steps one way and you are on the Cotton Valley Rail Trail. If you take the whole trail, you can visit the famous Poor People's Pub at the other end. Go a few steps the other way (okay a block or two) and you are at the IGA for all your shopping needs. Take advantage of that full kitchen, if you want. Need to get your shopping jones fix? A few more blocks and you are downtown (okay sure, as downtown as Wolfeboro gets ). Gift shops, clothes, etc. Plus ice cream, bakery goods and restaurants....right there. Want some craft beer? There's a craft beer brewery just around the bay. But, I have wandered away from why you are reading this. The Old Church is just ideal for a vacation to Wolfeboro. Kinda wish I didn't tell you about it, and could keep it as my secret. But check it out, and see if I'm lying. Disclaimer: the author of this review does not engage in hyperbole. Have an awesome day!
Photos don't do justice to the stunning interior of this renovated church. The hospitable owners have taken meticulous care with decor and maintenance, Including antique furniture and amenities for your comfort, such as a guest kitchen and hand made soaps. The owners live downstairs, the main floor is for guests, with two guest rooms with private baths, plus the kitchen/sitting areas. There is also a large loft area to enjoy, as well as an outside deck. (One note, if you have mobility or balance issues, you may have a problem using the footed tub/shower in the blue room. Thankfully that was not an issue for us.) Easy walk to shops and waterfront. This was certainly a memorable place to stay, and I would stay here again if I'm in the area.
The gentlemen that live on site communicated with me throughout the process with any questions I had. Upon arrival we were met within seconds and shown our room and the entire inside. Property is even more stunning in person than in photos. Owners are very kind, very accommodating, property is pristinely clean and very unique. Thanks so much for a wonderful experience.
Disclaimer: The reviewers are currently pursuing an invitation to the host's annual holiday party, so there is an explicit bias towards the property owners. That being said, that pursuit was prompted by the extraordinary charm and hospitality of both the property and the hosts. Review: This place was /great/. Stay here.
We so enjoyed our stay last summer, we were sure to book again for summer 2017 and were so glad we did! The accommodations are perfect for a couple, with very comfortable rooms for sleeping and welcoming main rooms provided a place to relax and snack (great cookies!). Only a short walk to Wolfeboro center for dinner, live music by the lake & such beautiful views. The path is very close and offers a place to run or walk. Kirk & John are friendly and fun to talk with - ask Kirk about the wonderful antiques and you will enjoy the stories. A unique touch is the wonderful handmade soap John creates (Back Bay Soaps) available for use in each room. We'll be sure to come back and stop by Back Bay Vintage next time too!
