Bushkill Falls
Best Things To Do in The Poconos

known as the Niagara of Pennsylvania, Bushkill Falls spans 300 acres and eight waterfalls in the Pocono Mountains. Visitors can admire the falls, considered one if the best things to do in Pennsylvania, from a series of wooded hiking trails, which vary in difficulty – the Green Trail is a 15-minute walk to the Main Falls, while the Red Trail spans nearly 2 miles and passes all eight waterfalls.

Note that some of the trails require visitors to go up and down a lot of steps, which can be slippery at times. Some trails also have wooden bridges. Previous visitors often recommend wearing sturdy walking shoes for this reason.

Jim Thorpe
Best Things To Do in The Poconos

Make a reservation at Cafe Arielle at the Stabin Museum, an art gallery and restaurant built over a stream (which you can actually view while you dine). – Amanda Norcross

Founded in 1818, Jim Thorpe was first known as Mauch Chunk (which translates to Bear Place in the Munsee-Lenape Native American language). In 1954, it took on its current title after the famous Olympian and Native American athlete of the same name was buried in town. (His mausoleum and memorial are located on Route 903).

Construction of the three-story, 18-room home took two years and cost $14,000. The roughly 11,000-square-foot mansion has served as a museum since 1956 and holds the distinction of a National Historic Landmark. Mansion tours mansion showcase an assortment of artifacts, as well as the interesting history of Packer and his family.

Past visitors rave about the excellent tour guides and interesting historical facts shared. They also praise the opulent mansion's original furnishings and period-specific details, claiming that walking across the porch feels like stepping into a time capsule. We had a great time staying at this house. The host was very easy to reach with any questions, the house was very clean and well stocked. We mostly stayed in due to the weather, but when possible, the kids went skiing, we snow tubed and we also enjoyed some hills nearby in the evening with our own sleds. Highly recommend this rental, and the friendly host Eric!

Generally a good experience for all of us. A handful of minor issues along the way, but generally a good experience. My family enjoyed the accommodations, the slopes, and nearby distractions. Hopefully we’ll be able to plan something similar in the future.
