Harpers Ferry, West Virginia
Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, this little hideaway is ideal for those looking to have some peace & relaxation. Located on a private drive, this unique ranch style home is the perfect place to unwind after exploring the surrounding areas; including: Historic Harper's Ferry, C&O Canal NHP, Charles-Town, Antietam National Battlefield and so many others! A short drive from nearby BWI/Dulles/Reagan airports, makes this a convenient location for those looking to visit from long distances!
Basement was musty. Washer & dryer full of linens. Not enough linens supplied for number in our party. A microwave would be a great addition. Stove handle is broken. Bathroom sink didn’t drain properly. Hot water stinky. Grass needs cut, though I understand it had been raining. Beds were uncomfortable, though living room was.
The property was hidden away, but still had neighbors. The neighbors were no bother. Once found the access was easier each time to find. Easy going owner with all amenities needed. Would have been helpful to label if the tap water was drinkable and same with water in the fridge. We used it for the Keurig.
This is a cute home that is clean and safe. The property owner was quick to respond. The beds were clean and comfortable and there were plenty of towels and dishes. The one complaint we had was the water. The water had a very strong sulfer odor. So much so that we chose to purchase bottles water for everything including brushing our teeth and making coffee. It's a good to know thing, bring bottled water.
You would do well to avoid staying at this property. Shortly after we had settled in to the property, my wife informed me there were mouse droppings under the couch cushions. As we continued our stay, we found more mouse droppings in more places. There were cobwebs throughout the house, mildew stains in the bathroom, and there was mold in the washing machine. We were not left any washcloths for dishes or bathing (although there were dirty dishes left for us to clean), or an iron or iron board (which were advertised to be in the house). Even worse, the shower curtain rod was rolling freely and liable to fall off at any time, and the king bed frame was broken such that we awkwardly sank into the bed, making sleep very difficult. The hosts never attempted to address our concerns during our stay, and acted too busy to take care of any of these issues. This house could be made a decent place to stay, but it seems like the owners have no interest in making that happen.
Loved our stay, such a beautiful area!
Great communication from the host, clean home, easy access.
We really enjoyed staying in this home. The bedrooms were spacious and clean, living room lovely and kitchen met all our needs (we made breakfast lunch and dinner there). We couldn’t get the wifi to work and owners did not respond to our request for assistance, and the shower was a bit more rustic than we expected but overall we really enjoyed a break in this house. We did bring our own bottled water based on feedback from other renters.
We stayed at this home for 4 nights. It was a very quaint little house, and was suitable for all of our needs. It was in a good location to the things we wanted to do. This is a nice place to visit. I would recommend it to anyone going to Harpers Ferry in the future. We especially liked that it was pet friendly as we were able to bring our dog with us.
Nice home, quiet very well stocked with amenities. Well kept. Could use mat for tub or grab bar, very slippery. Would rent again.
Nice house for me and my dogs to use as home base while competing in DockDogs. Quiet location and room for them to stretch. Had friends stop by and viewed fireworks from front porch. The only issue was when I arrived the house was not cool despite the 4 AC units running. I looked and all filters in the units were totally clogged. I cleaned each one and the house immediately cooled down. Other than that the house was a gem. Thank you for a great stay.
Easy check in. House is located in a cluster of homes. Photos are misleading. Cleanliness was sub par. Linens and towels from previous guests were laying on top of the washer. Wasn’t sure if the linens and towels that we did have were even clean and fresh. Home smelled of alcohol and cigarettes. Good location.
The property was cute and comfy, overall. Beamer Lane is a very narrow dirt road but the property driveway is paved. We preferred drinking bottled water and using to brush our teeth as the tap water was undesirable. Be cautious in the shower as it was very slippery, a bath mat would be recommended. The internet was down the entire stay which meant there was no TV. My biggest complaint is that the owner was non communicative before and during the stay. I sent a total of 3 messages that were never answered by the owner. The phone number on the profile needs to be updated as it is for someone that is no longer associated with the property and the maintenance line provided by the owner was of no help.
Property is NOT easy to access, and is near nothing of convenience. Water smelled like rotten eggs, no water pressure. All the bedrooms and bathroom were on a terrible downhill slope...showering was an adventure! The renovations were of terrible quality. Photos do this place more justice than reality and make the space seem more spacious (I am 5'4 and could touch the ceiling). The house was clean, but clearly there were recent guests that had smoked indoors. We opted to drive home a day early.
The place was clean as could be, located in a nice general area close to Harper's Ferry, Charles Town, Hillsborough etc. We had a blast checking out all the surrounding areas. The communication was perfect with the owner/listing agent. The only issue with the place was the shower. There was absolutely no pressure and there definitely is a scent from the water. Plenty of space for a family to go to or whoever they just need to address that shower issue.
