It is difficult to express how disappointed we were with this property. We have been using Vrbo for approximately five years. This year alone we have logged about 90 nights with Vrbo. In all those visits we have NEVER encountered a worse property or a less helpful host. First of all, the apartment is not truly habitable at this time (March) of year. Being below grade, the heat pump struggles to raise the temperature above 69 degrees. The breakfast room (den) is unheated and hence unusable. Which means that we had no place to eat meals, except the coffee table in the living room. There are many things we did not know: the “newly refinished” floors are cement; there is no railing on the uneven, dis-repaired steps leading down to the front door; children and at least one dog frolic upstairs. Other complaints: the website is out of date; the sliding glass doors in the shower (shown in the Vrbo ad) have been replaced with a plastic shower curtain; the living room blinds are broken; there is a huge spider web on the glass of the breakfast room, complete with carcasses. The TV failed to work four of our first five nights. We fled to a hotel for our sixth and seventh nights. There was a general lack of instructions, for example: TV controls, heating system controls. When these issues were raised we received only empty promises from the owner: nothing was addressed. We asked that our money be refunded. It was not.
We enjoyed our stay in Richmond. The “Downtown Hideaway “ was in a perfect location. We walked or rode our bikes almost every place we wanted to go. The kitchen worked well for us, the bed was comfortable. And Chris was quick to answer questions.
What an adorable place! Comfortable and a little quirky, in a neighborhood with lots of charm that was a quick ride to where we wanted to go. The host was communicative and helpful. If you're a light sleeper the occasional morning noise from upstairs may bother you (footsteps, a barking dog) but it wasn't a problem for the three of us. My favorite feature was the sun room. I'll stay here again if I find myself in Richmond.
The apartment was well-supplied for either short or long stays and was very comfortable. Great location.
Very clean, nicely decorated, well supplied, convenient to Broad Street. Nice neighborhood. No problem parking on the street or behind townhouse. The renters upstairs were very nice and not noisy even though they have a child, dog and cat. My husband and I are mid 60’s to 70. We walked to several restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also cook for yourself. Full kitchen as well as a washing machine/dryer! We will be back whenever we visit Richmond and can’t stay with our daughter.
The apartment is nice and the bed in the main bedroom is comfortable. The kitchen and bathroom are very efficient. There is no information on the area, i.e. restaurants, places to visit. The kitchen could use a few basic items such as dish towels. salt and pepper, etc.. Overall a nice apartment.
The property was two blocks from our daughter, so the location was perfect, just what we were looking for. Plus easy walk to good restaurants and the new ICA. Good parking in the alley and easy front and back entrances. The tenant upstairs was very sweet. The overall street seemed friendly and quiet. The apartment was spacious with comfy bed, nice shower and updated kitchen. Being allergic to some dogs, I am very appreciative of owners who make extra effort to clean. With that and being mindful, I had minimal problems and would stay again.
Hay downtown location with restaurants, bars, attractions all within walking distance.
My 11 year old and I shared the bedroom queen and my Aunt stayed in the living room on the pull-out couch. Was warm and cozy- nice kitchen, and was thrilled to find the French press! The den/sunroom and book collection were quite a bonus! And the fenced backyard was great for the dog. And a great shower (even the 11 year old commented on it)
We spent a week exploring the area and visiting friends. This was a perfect spot, particularly with our two dogs. There is a park a block away, so nice walks were easy. With a fenced backyard, a quick out was always an option. Easy access to I-95 and to major surface streets made navigating around Richmond a breeze.
