Hello, one of the bedroom listed have to walk through somebody's else room
We had a lovely vacation! The view is spectacular! There are two refrigerators which is great and ample dining space! The covered space around the pool is an added bonus. The pool lounge chairs are uncomfortable! The porch is very nice and we all enjoyed playing volleyball! However, the kayaks don’t have backs, so if you own kayaks, bring your own! And the house could use some updates. For example, the wicker table and chairs outside are falling apart. Finally, it seems that the house has been expanded over the years and so there are many step up and downs throughout the house. These are tricky to navigate for older individuals, such as myself! All in all, we had a wonderful time!
We chose this house for a few reasons: A central location for us and our 19 guests, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, dog friendly, outdoor space on the water and a pool. This was the only house that checked all of the boxes. The property is beautiful and the house was okay. The house and property are neglected and need maintenance. (One reason why it only got 3 stars.) I did send the rental company a punch list and I hope they correct all of the issues before renting it again. We did enjoy the billiards room, the pool, the dock, the fire pit and even the cemetery. Yes, the cemetery was cool. The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were clean with good water pressure. There was plenty of seating indoors and out and additional dining space was in the screened in porch. We did use the kayaks, but just know there weren't enough proper kayak paddles. The house was only a short ride to restaurants and to shopping. Finally, as Kyde S. said in his review, the host fees are very high. They added an additional 1/3 of the rental price to the cost, which makes the reasonable nightly cost a lot less reasonable. There was also a VRBO service fee. That was the other reason why it only got 3 stars. Again, we rented it because it was the only house/property that checked all of the boxes for a weekend trip.
It’s an expensive rental and with all the additional fees tacked on the total bill was crazy high for the property. The property manager was unresponsive through VRBO and a call was not returned. I had better luck via email but still seemed like I was putting them out. I was told there were kayaks although there was only 1 paddle and nowhere to launch the kayaks from. The house is a bit dingy and no seating area suitable for a party of 5 adults. Most glaring was the lack of privacy. There is a neighbor immediately next door with no fence or plantings between the two properties. There’s internet but not enough signal to reach the TV so no Netflix etc on a rainy day. Pool cleaners came without any notice to us. The setting is nice, right on the water, but that wasn’t enough to overcome the shortcomings at such a high price. Wouldn’t return.
Beautiful property with plenty of room for a large family gathering. Great location for water activities like kayaking and sailing
We had a wonderful family vacation at Hudson Manor. Loved that it had bedding for so many people as well as seating for meals. Very well equipped with 2 refrigerators and grills. It was great to have so many bathrooms. Most bedrooms had amazing views. Favorite thing about it was the covered patio area around the pool which was perfect for babies. I would’ve expected some of the maintenance issues to be nonexistent at that price point. Examples are a few broken fans, lightbulbs out, cobwebs on upper level, broken gate lock around pool, exterior needs power washed and majority of the beds were lumpy, way cluttered kitchen cabinets, broken grills still on patio, cooling system did not get as cool as we would have liked. Nothing that can’t be fixed. With all that said, the good outweighed the nuisances and we would go back. One bigger thing that we missed having was a great room with a lot of seating for movie/game nights. Otherwise perfect for our family of 15.
Hudson Manor is a gorgeous property. It's the perfect spot for a get-away with family and friends in all seasons. The interior is beautifully maintained with bedrooms for everyone and lots of common areas for playing games, pool, reading, or simply enjoying the breath-taking views. We enjoyed cooking a big dinner in the kitchen and then fit our whole crew around the large dining room table to enjoy our feast. While this particular visit was snowy, one of my favorite activities in warmer weather is using the pool by day and gathering around the campfire by night. The sunsets, spectacular starry skies, and views from the dock have been gorgeous in all seasons. I've enjoyed coming a couple of times already and look forward to returning again soon!
My extended family stayed in this enormous complex in Cambridge, MD and we absolutely loved it! We had a family reunion, and the house provided ample entertainment for those of all ages (pool table for the adults and playground for the kiddos, and then an outdoor fire pit for all ages). The location was also perfect for my husband, a bird enthusiast, who saw an eagle perched on the post, and there a ton of geese migrating through and landing in the waters. The view of the river on the dock is amazing and we enjoyed sitting there and watching the birds go by. It was unfortunately too early in the year when we came so the pool is not open but we will definitely book again in future years during the pool season so that our grandkids can splash in the water.
The grounds of Hudson Manor are spectacular. The view is amazing and I can imagine that in the summer, this would be an incredible house to host a party. This house is not, however, one I would recommend for the winter. Our group lost use of two bedrooms due to improper heating, all upstairs toilets were not usable because of frozen pipers, and a third bedroom was not usable because there were mice droppings in the pull out bed, likely due to a mouse seeking heat in a warm place. The rental company managing the property was nice to work with and attempted to care of issues when alerted. They were very prompt about the heating problems (which took place over a holiday weekend) and sent someone to manage them right away. As the heat wasn't broken, just insufficient, they reimbursed us for space heaters and gave us a refund for a portion of our stay.
Hudson Manor is a beautiful and historic property that enchants its guests with contemporary conveniences. For instance, I was pleasantly surprised to find fully updated kitchen and bathroom facilities. It was obvious to me that the proprietors take pride in the cleanliness of the place and the comfort of their guests. Hudson Manor is also a true four seasons resort. To help keep cool in summer, the pool area features shade provided by the permanent canopy. As the interior is warm and inviting, it would be the perfect place to curl up with a book or talk by the fireplace during the cooler months.
