Serenity :3-bedroom bungalow in phenomenal Flower Mound with Wi Fi, AC, Parking

We are frequent users of VRBO so I feel let down by both owner and VRBO. I received no welcome text or call prior to arriving. Only a text that the key would be hanging off a plant on the front porch. This home was not as described. Arriving at dusk, the street and home were pitch black. Turning down a gravel road we found multiple cars parked in front of houses with garage doors open, two old RV's parked in the front yard of this owner's house, DIY decking with rickety stairs and peeling paint, the outside kitchen area in the same sad condition, an empty koi pond in need of repair... Not at all like the pictures. Owners live here full time. You could smell cooked food. There was mail on the counter. We felt very unsafe walking through the house. The back doors dead bolts did not close and were open. There was a combo lockbox on the front door. Our key to get in was on a hook on a plant. The street didn't feel safe and the house did not feel secure. We contacted the owner and told him we did not feel safe and he told us he would return our money. It is a month later and we have not received our money. The owner told us VRBO has our money and VRBO said the owner has our money. The whole experience makes me question staying at another VRBO ever. Flower Mound is a beautiful little town. We found the one bad street there. We were so disappointed and then had to go and find a hotel. This has been a nightmare.

We enjoyed the quiet comfortable atmosphere.
