Please make sure you have a 4 wheel drive to access the home in the winter, we also recommend carrying chains, the unique setting of this home will make the long driveway somewhat difficult to maneuver.
Overall great property, the only issue we had was that we went when it was snowing hard and without snow chains even with a AWD truck, we were not able to get back up to the driveway to park our vehicle. We slid pretty badly trying to get back up after a short snow storm. And ended up having to park our car in a Grocery store parking lot for part of the trip.. the snow plows did not come to clear the driveway and we ended up needing to spent an extra night till it was cleared for us to leave.
This cabin was not very clean. There were cobwebs and dirty floors. Also, we knew the place did not have ac although what we did not expect was that we could not open any of the windows. This made the cabin extremely hot and very uncomfortable. Also, the bear proof trash can was always full. Other neighboring people were using this trash can for their personal usage.
In general the house was nice as advertised. When we checked in at the property management office we were told not to open windows, hence it was very warm to hot in the house, 2 fans available that didn't help much. If we would have known this up front when booking we wouldn't have booked the house. We were also bothered with ants in the kitchen during the stay. There were many safety issues outside on the property, wood deck step downs not safe 2 in the party fell during the stay. Rebar metal sticking up on the steps leading down to the yard. Not pet friendly in the yard many remnants of plastic mesh all over the back leftover from the past sod grass. The beauty of the lake made up for the poor stay. We will ask many more questions next time.
We had a great time in this large, open home for the 6 of us. The open floor plan is amazing for housing your group of friends and family. The house was stocked with everything we needed from kitchen supplies, toiletries to games and entertainment . The property management company was great to work with - they gave us a warm welcome package and they were very communicative during our stay. My only feedback would be to improve the check-in / check-out process where you need to physically pick up/drop-off your keys in Tahoe City - having a coded, keyless entry would be ideal to help save time on the back and forth commute.
We went there the end of February and there was still enough snow around the property for the kids to play. The property is very private, You can't see any neighbors from your window, which is great. There was no snow along the driveway so going up and down was easy. The driveway is slop up hill so it might be skechy if it was cover with snow. Overall we had a great time and love the place. The only 2 things I did not like is that they do not have an emergency contact for you to call if there was something wrong and you have to drive 20 minutes from the property to pick up the keys at check in. One morning we did not have hot water and the office did not open until 9 am, I had to wait until they call back just to tell me the contractor was off that day and they will look and find another person. Lucky I was handy and figure out it was just a pilot issue and got the water heater back on. We finally got hot water by noon and they still have not find a repair person. So if you have an issue or furnace that does not work during the winter, you're kinda out of luck if the repair man is off. Hopefully they fix this issue and have more than one repair man and have an emergency contact for us to call. Beside those issues, everything was great and recommended this place. It is close to everything you need from shopping to beach.
Very clean and well appointed home. We had been warned about the steep driveway and were told there was no way a four wheel drive vehicle could get up it. We have a truck with snow tires and had no problem getting up and down the driveway even with snow and some ice. One negative - the house had been cleaned with a really strong Fabreeze-like product and the smell was over powering throughout our stay.
The home was a perfect fit for our family of 5. The location is excellent and close to a lot of activities. The home was comfortable. We enjoyed the views and the stay with a plan to return to the same location.
We stayed here with six adults and one child. The upstairs toilet was not working upon arrival. The fridge also never worked properly which put our food at risk of spoiling. One of the downstairs bedrooms was extremely hot every night without any breeze through the windows. 80+ degrees inside the bedroom. No A/C available here. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying at this cabin with so many options around North Shore.
The house was clean, comfortable, well furnished & we enjoyed our stay. Two annoyances worth mentioning: you have to pick up the key at a lock box at the Tahoe City office which is 20 minutes away. It would have been much easier & is the norm from my experience, to use the lock box at the rental house, especially since there already was one there. Also, the access road & driveway were very steep. Although we had two four-wheel drive cars and one front wheel drive car with chains installed & made numerous running attempts, none could make it all the way to the house so we had to carry our bags about 75 yards up the hill to get them into the house.
