Ponte Vedra, Florida
When you stay at Seashell, you can pretend that the pink-tinged Ponte Vedra Beach and the sparkling Atlantic Ocean are your private domain. Not only is this section of the beach quiet and relatively unvisited, but the recently renovated bungalow only steps away. In fact, it has a private walkway across the back lawn to the sands. You can watch the waves from Seashell’s screened-in patio and listen to them from its three bedrooms.
The patio will no doubt be a favorite space for gathering. The window screens help keep pesky insects out while letting the salt-kissed breeze in. The ceiling fan will keep you cool even during the dog days of summer. Because it’s furnished with numerous chairs, settees, and tables, you can spend pretty much your entire day out here. There’s no better way to start your morning than sipping fresh-brewed coffee or cold juice on the patio while watching the sunrise over the Atlantic.
The backyard also has a sitting area with a fire pit. Sit outside with the kids and roast marshmallows, or enjoy a romantic late-night drink with your sweetheart as stars twinkle overhead. There’s a charcoal grill as well. After barbecuing your fresh-caught fish or veggie kabobs, savor your feast alfresco on the patio.
The interior of Seashell is just as restful. The living area boasts a beamed ceiling, whitewashed walls, and plenty of windows to create an airy, inviting ambiance. The leather sofas and comfortably padded chairs provide more than enough room for everyone to kick back and watch TV or play a rousing game of Pictionary.
The kitchen’s sparkling stainless-steel appliances and gleaming granite countertops will persuade even reluctant chefs to get cooking. The open layout lets you watch TV or chat with friends while you work your culinary magic. When you’re not dining in the screened-in patio, everyone can sit at the kitchen island.
Seashell’s three bedrooms are as laid-back and serene as you’d expect from a beachfront bungalow. Two of the bedrooms include a full bed; the third has a pair of twin beds. Prop yourself up against the pillows to surf the web via the free WiFi or to catch up on your reading, or sprawl out and let the calls of the plovers and the breeze rustling through the palm trees lull you to sleep.
Seashell’s amenities include a washer, a dryer, a carport to protect your vehicle from the sun, cable channels, and a large yard where the kids can run around. The star attraction, however, is the beach just beyond your door. You can come and go as you please; no need to load up the car and sit in traffic before you can feel the sand between your toes. Swim and paddleboard, canoe and kayak, build sandcastles and collect seashells, laze on a blanket and watch dolphins bob in the surf, stroll barefoot at night in the silvery shimmer of moonlight. As a bonus, the house has an outdoor shower, so you don’t have to worry about tracking sand indoors.
When you stay at Seashell, you’re sure to make magical memories of good times with family and friends. Don’t miss out; book your stay today!
The location and being on the beach was the best thing about this home. The house itself needs a lot of tlc. The AC did not work during the day probably due to poor insulation. There were 6 roaches we killed during our stay, 2 of which were there the first night we got there. The kitchen sink doesn't drain properly due to a bad garbage disposal. Many of the exterior doors do not open and close easily. The yard was unkempt and had many ant beds. The only thing this place has going for it is its proximity to the ocean
We have been coming to this location for about 6years, and to be honest every year it gets worst. The location is great, but every year the AC is not on so to get to a cooler temp takes almost the whole week. Also not sure what is going on with the back yard when we first came the grass was nice, now it’s just dirt. The grill that was outside has been taken out, and the TV has no channels to watch, again when we first came it had a lot of channels and now we couldn’t even watch a baseball game. It’s sad that whoever owns this place is letting it go.
We chose this place to meet 3 basic purposes: (1) Entertainment -- the Beach, (2) a place to relax after the Beach and (3) a place to sleep. Let's start with the positive, the walkout to the beach was short and very convenient. The beach was amazing (beautiful and private). Negatives: We couldn't enjoy the rental unit for relaxation or to sleep because the house was always above 80 degrees in the afternoon and evening and wouldn't cool down until the sun went down. Upon check-in, we shut all the blinds and reported the problem to the rental company. They sent two different A/C companies out and both verified that the air conditioner was functioning properly but that the house could not be cooled properly because of a lack of insulation. One technician measured the exposed beam ceiling temperature at 100 degrees. To survive the heat, we took cold showers when returning from the Beach and avoided being in the house. Each night when we returned it was never less than 80 degrees and it was difficult to sleep. Upon learning the problem couldn't be corrected we asked to be moved to a rental that was air conditioned but they indicated nothing was available but they would consider compensation when we checked out. We felt a 50% refund was fair but their final offer was $500 in exchange for not leaving a review of the home. Which might explain why we didn't see any of these problems posted in the reviews. Lesson learned, we should have dealt directly with VRBO when the problem was evident at check-in versus thinking the rental company would make things right. Opinion: Listing Air Conditioning as an amenity when the house is only 7 degrees cooler than the outside temperature (87 degrees inside when 94 degrees outside) is not truthful advertising. Other considerations: dead bug carcuses in the home, (we were just grateful they were dead) and a large hole in the screened in porch with several lizards camping out, centipedes and bugs, which made the porch unusable. The grass is completely dead. The third bedroom that is not connected to the main A/C had a window unit that stayed just as hot or hotter than the rest of the house. Construction next door.
We had a peaceful stay, which was much needed after my son’s graduation. I would call this place a beach shack. Totally my style. The owners have made an effort to renovate and update this older cinder block house. It is set far back from the water but you are beach front. It feels like you are on your own personal beach. Hardly anyone else for a mile. Gorgeous and peaceful! The cons are… central heating and air do not extend to one of the bedrooms so a window unit is there and it struggles; the front bedroom you hear cars zipping by on the A1A throughout the night instead of waves; poor shower pressure but this is typical these days with water savers; The owner should provide more than one trash bag, toilet paper rolls and paper towels. Fortunately we were there only 3 days so we didn’t need more. The green lawn is now dead and brown, but I know it is very difficult to grow grass at the beach. We didn’t really mind because we were there for the ocean view, not the lawn. I would definitely like to visit Ponte Verde beach again, possibly here! Loved this little peaceful beach shack!
Lacked a few personal amenities that other rentals have. Only one complaint, the back porch was filthy. Needs to be included in cleaning fee.
The weather was great and the beach is your backyard- it worked for us
We had a great time and loved the location. The beach front was perfect.
Felt like we had the beach to ourselves. Right across from the nature reserve where we rented a kayak. Ran on the beach with my son, found an amazing assortment of shells, stared out at the waves. Thank you!
Great.
The location of Seashell was amazing. The ocean is literally in your backyard. Older home but you could tell they have updated it. It was very clean. The dishwasher would not run a whole cycle before shutting off. But that wasn’t a big deal since it ended up just being three of us. The washer and dryer worked great. The window air conditioner in one of the bedrooms was loud but didn’t bother me as I like noise when I sleep. There weren’t many channels available on the tv. It is a Smart tv though so you can watch Netflix, YouTubeTV, etc. The grill has a hole in the bottom so we weren’t able to use it. There were only 2 stools at the bar so we ate in the living room. It had the basic kitchen items. I would recommend adding a colander. The weather didn’t cooperate with us but we still enjoyed our stay. It was a much needed relaxing vacation. Thank you for letting us stay!
