Breck was an Ivy League educated man who dug out the basement to add the two bedrooms and bath and laundry as his family grew. Nick Patrick, a local native, added much to the charm of the house before it returned to the Moran family. It was purchased by Ann Simpson from Betsy Moran Sartou in April of 2015. It has been lovingly restored, with a new roof, plumbing, electrical , lawn sprinkler system and is in beautiful condition.

Fantastic home and convenient location
Super clean and excellent location. Very comfortable beds and super hot water for the showers!!
Its perfect as this my second year as its easy access a d a quiet neighborhood
The welcome gifts were so thoughtful after a very long drive. It was so nice to walk in to flowers, snacks, wine, fruit, bread and butter…! Also given the state of the world, the fact that our hosts would welcome complete strangers with such warmth made me a bit weepy. I LOVED the care and detail that went into the restoration of the cabin. (The fireplace mantle may have been my favorite feature) I found the house evocative in so many ways. The location was perfect. We found the canal park and enjoyed walking our dog there and exploring the great neighborhood. Many many thanks for such an enjoyable stay.
The cabin is in a great location. Perfect back yard area for our dogs. Quiet neighborhood. Very comfortable house!
Perfect place for our father/son fishing trip. Beautiful home that is within walking distance to Main Street in Cody. Thanks for having us.
Our family so enjoyed our stay here! So convenient to downtown, Yellowstone and all the things to do. Our host was fabulous and we will definitely stay again if we make it back through the area!
We were greeted with a large loaf of freshly baked bread with butter on the side. Yummmm. We stayed 5 nights and there was so much to do in Cody that it flew by. The house was just as described and slept well. We were walking distance to everything.
Cute neighborhood that was walking distance to shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the big front porch!
Very Happy with property.
What can I say about Scouts Rest? We loved the cabin. The rich history and feel was just perfect for our stay. If you are looking for a rustic feel while staying in Cody WY, this is the place for you. The Front Porch sitting in the morning drinking coffee (provided) with deer meandering through the front yard. The Fire Place (click a button) was a nice feature on the cooler evenings. The kitchen is well equipped and I'm certain anything we would have needed would be brought to us right away. Ann's amazing fresh baked bread was delicious. Walking down Main Street (one block away) was so easy and convenient. If you are looking for modern amenities (clean lines and tech) keep looking. If you want historic charm and comfort, look no further. We will be back.
The cabin was in a great location; very rustic with a lot of antiques. Host was easily accessible & owner came to check on us a couple of times. There were fresh flowers, nice fruit basket & bottle of wine when we arrived. No real complaints, but be aware that the bed on main level is very high…not intended for shorter people. The whole cabin could definitely do with a major cleaning.
Enjoyed this cabin. Loved the coziness, easiness, and location. Highly recommend.
Good
Very easy
Cabin had all our needs and little extras, a loaf of delicious freshly baked bread, bottle of wine, mule deer greeting us in the mornings while having our coffee on the wonderful porch. Great hostesses, owner, cleaning person etc. Lots of history in this unique cabin. Would recommend giving it a stay.
Oh my goodness...where to start. First of all, the cabin is just adorable! When you first pull up you are just amazed at the sight. But when you go in...wow! We loved how it was decorated. And all the extra touches were so nice....bottle of wine, fresh flowers in various places, books and info about the are, and on and on. It is the most well stocked cabin I have ever stayed in! There literally was nothing that we needed..it was all there. We were a group of 6 women on a girls trip. There were enough beds that we all got our own bed to sleep in while we were there. I was astonished at how big the cabin in as well. There was more than enough room for all of us to hang out together and be comfortable. We really enjoyed sitting out on the porch as well as on the back patio. That was so very peaceful. A plus for the cabin too, is that it is so close to town. We were able to walk into Cody to shop and eat. Again, we loved the cabin and would definitely stay there again if we come back to Cody!
We had wonderful stay. The cabin was very nice, great location, really liked porch with chairs and nice fenced backyard with furniture. The rustic log cabin really got us in the mood for cowboy country. Really close to Yellowstone so nice scenic drive to the park.
As a family of 6 we were easily accommodated here. There was a fenced back yard where our kids played lawn games and a couple tables and chairs outside. The location was amazing! We walked to the city park for mini golf, the Buffalo Bill Museum (amazing!), and downtown for shopping and restaurants. We will definitely stay here again! Ann made the process of checking in very easy and was extremely accomodating!
