Salty Escape: Newly Constructed Retreat

House was clean and comfortable. Close to main road made getting to Publix or restaurants very easy.

The internet was good. The condo was as close to be being home as it could possibly be....love it! Great communication!

Description was perfect! Very clean place to stay!

Upon our arrival, approximately 20 minutes before the scheduled check-in time, the house had not yet been cleaned. This was unusual, as we've never encountered this issue with other rentals in the area. What we found particularly odd was that the laundry, including sheets and towels, was already bagged. When the cleaning crew arrived, they stated they had been delayed and stuck on a nearby island. This seemed inconsistent, as someone had clearly been in the house to bag the laundry, and previous renters would not have had access to the cleaning crew's laundry bags. This suggests either there are two cleaning crews, or the crew was not entirely truthful. We recognize that we arrived on July 5th, the day after the Fourth of July weekend, and traffic in and out of the area was very heavy. Therefore, it's possible they did experience legitimate traffic issues; our only concern was the potential lack of complete transparency. Aside from the initial cleaning delay, the house itself was very nice and well-organized, with good furniture. The beds were a bit worn, but that's often expected in a vacation rental. The water pressure in the showers was a little low, especially after a day at the beach, but the water consistently got hot and cold, which was sufficient. We also found ants in the living room next to the patio door, and we were unable to block them from coming in. Our two main concerns, besides the cleaning issue and the ants, were the inability to lock the back patio door. Although we were on the second story and the patio was screened, making unauthorized entry unlikely without significant effort, the lack of a lock felt somewhat questionable. On a positive note, we really appreciated the clearly marked parking area. Many driveways on Ocean Isle Beach are gravel, or require tandem parking, which can be inconvenient. Having a paved, clearly lined parking lot was a significant advantage. We also really enjoyed the property's pool area. We liked that it was gated, ensuring only other renters were present, and it was large and deep enough for our child to have a lot of fun. The hot tub was also a nice amenity, even in the summer. Our only minor complaint about the pool was that some other renters tended to claim entire sections of the area. This is more a reflection on other guests than the property itself, but it was frustrating to feel the need to arrive early or reserve a chair with a towel if we wanted to use it later in the day. One of the primary reasons we chose this rental was its pet-friendly nature. We were pleased to find ample sidewalks for walking our dog and plenty of grassy areas for potty breaks. Most residents were considerate and actively picked up after their pets, which was a pleasant surprise. In conclusion, we would stay again.

The home was perfect for our stay- spacious, clean and loved the fenced in yard for our pups! The home had ample beach amenities and the golf cart was a great addition, even at the added cost.

The property was clean and spacious. Full kitchen. About 10 min drive to sunset beach and calabash. 20 minute drive to north Myrtle.

We rented a month early and had one minor issue. This time everything including the minor issue was taken care.

Great condo in a very nice community. The location is close to Sunset Beach, OIB, and Calabash.

Stayed in the area for the half marathon and to enjoy the beach. The place was clean, nice and quiet. Would stay again, as we liked the area. Property management company text and/or called leading up to our stay to sign extra forms and during our stay I heard from them some way or another daily. They asked how clean it was, how our check-in was, to tell them when we checked out. We were only there 2 days and I wanted to relax not feel bombarded on my phone constantly. Also, they have a ring camera so if they wanted to know when we left they could check that. Other than that. It was fine.

Stay was very nice and we’d stay here again if available. Two issues (correctable) that we encountered was the abundance of cat or dog hair on porch that we had to vacuum up. Everything else was spotless and welcoming. The second issue was pots to boil water. We could not find any. Just two small pans. Thanks for sharing your place which was enjoyable having coffee on the porch.

We had a wonderful time at Salty Escape. The home is new and very close to the beach. Every morning we could walk to the beach or ride the bikes in the garage. The listing is deceptive in the presentation of the amenities. The golf cart is an additional cost, and we weee not notified of this until our arrival. It would have been nice know about the additional cost upon booking or before our arrival. Other than that, the home was beautiful and one of the best rentals we’ve had through Vacasa.

This is our second time at Sandpiper Bay and we love the location, the quiet neighborhood, beautiful pond and well-kept pool. Salty Dogs was nice, but we had a couple of issues, both of which Vacasa responded quickly to but were unable to fix during our stay. First, there was an electrical issue that caused the hallway light to flicker and second, there is no lock on the sliding door going out to the porch. Even though this property is on the second floor, not having a lock on the door is irresponsible and as a former military family, made us very uneasy. It's also worth noting (as an FYI) there is no ice maker in the freezer, so you have to use the provided ice trays or buy bags of ice. Lastly, the kitchen table chairs are VERY creeky and loud. Again, we love this neighborhood, we just won't stay in this particular unit again.

We had a great stay at Salty Escape! The house was spacious and looked just like the pictures (new and clean). The location was great and we could walk with our three kids to the playground and splash pad as well as the beach. (Stores and restaurants also within walking distance). The kitchen was well equipped with cooking utensils and dishes so it was easy to cook meals at home and it was nice not to have to do the dishes after each meal (we were 5 people). We would definitely recommend this place and stay here again if on Oak Island.

Was a great stay for my daughters and I; quiet and enjoyable and pools were a perfect break from beach days

Fantastic property on a quiet street in a really good area. We had trouble with the thermostat the first night, but the rental agency was very helpful and support was great. Would absolutely stay here again-our teens, my husband, and myself absolutely loved the place! Yard and back porch are fantastic!!! Games, wagon, and bikes in garage are such enjoyable, fantastic touches!!

Property was exactly as described. Very clean and the unit had everything you'd need from extra pillows to scissors in the kitchen! My next trip to Sunset Beach will definitely involve a stay with Vacasa Properties.
