I was thrilled to find the house spotless and had the heater on upon our arrival. The fresh apples and oranges were a delightful bonus. This location is truly the perfect escape for relaxation, complete with breathtaking, beach, views, and close to everything in town. The house is fully equipped, eliminating any concern about needing to buy extra essentials. Nestled in a quiet area it feels like a hidden gem. I am eagerly looking forward to my next day just a small note. The main shower tub has some drainage issues and the showerhead could use an upgrade.

It was the perfect place for myself and a friend.Love the cozy comfortable feel, the private path to the beach is great, and the neighbors are not on top of you. I will go again.

We loved staying at the property. Our pets were welcomed and loved checking out all out.There are so many windows that you feel like you are almost in the ocean.We really had a nice time.

The host communicated clearly and timely. The home had all kitchen needs covered, which was great for our family to prepare holiday meals. The home was decorated beautifully for the holidays, which was a nice surprise. My children are all adults and we have dogs, so the home was perfect, including the hot tub and ease of keeping the tile/linoleum clean and free of sand. It would not be safe for young children given the stairs and deck railings. The downstairs bathtub is not draining well and needs some love, but everything else was perfect.

Wonderful thanksgiving close to the beach!

A very quaint beachfront cottage complete with a hot tub under the stars. A perfect getaway for a couple who appreciates a homey atmosphere and a conscientious, responsive host.

Location was good, condition of house was poor. Lotta safety issues, steps, windows, etc. Cleanliness was good, but the house was old and moldy. Also mice in the pantry and laundry room.

My husband and I have stayed at the Salty Dog before and we have always enjoyed our stay there. It is in a very nice location with lovely beach views. The home could use some sprucing up and more deep cleaning, but otherwise we love spending time here.

We loved the location of the house, although an older house and needing some minor maintenance it was nothing that made our stay unpleasant, we loved the house and didn’t have to worry about being extra careful because it was new! The views from the house are amazing and the beach is so close! The beds are very comfortable and clean! The house is well stocked, and the added gift of apples was so nice!We would definitely stay there again!

The Salty Dog was the best -- as always! Fantastic location right by the beach, wonderful amenities with fireplace, hot tub, and deck, and great owner communication (timely and thorough). Had a great time and hope to be back again next year :)

Beautiful location. House had everything we needed.

A bit rustic but well stocked with supplies so we only had to buy groceries and wine. Access to the beach might be difficult for older folks.

Steps away from a beautiful and empty beach. The house has everything you need for a comfortable stay. However, like many of the other reviews have said, the house needs a much needed deep cleaning.

This house was filled with everything you would possibly need from kitchen to living room, entertainment to toiletries. David was always available when I had questions. We would definitely come back.

Absolutely amazing! Never seen such an amazing beach. The house was warm and so cozy! Fire at nights were the best. Easy walk to the beach. Stayed cool during the day and warm at night. Definitely will go back!

This house looks nothing like the pictures. Beach access stairs are falling apart and then you have to climb down a ladder. Fence outside is falling apart and plants are overgrown. Poor housekeeping with spiderwebs and dirt in the windowsills. Slimy washing machine and sink faucet. 2 comfy beds, 1 uncomfortable bed. Dishwasher takes 6 hours. Contacted host upon arrival regarding unsafe beach access and dated interior. He gave me directions to easier access and said maybe someday he'd have the money to remodel. Does NOT match pictures. Not all jets and none of the blowers work in the hot tub. Did have a nice ocean view and the master bedroom is decent. Lots of stairs. Don't think I'd rent this one again but made the best of it. Wasn't what I expected.

Our stay at the Salty Dog was just perfect. We had friends that we get together with once a year, and we enjoyed cooking, talking, game playing and most of all, our trip on Jerry's jet boats! The 5 hour scenic and white water trip (with lunch) was absolutely awesome! It really made the trip. The location of the Salty Dog allowed us a trip into CA as well, and a gorgeous view of the water and sunsets. As others have mentioned, there is quite a bit of deferred maintenance on the property, and could use a deep cleaning, but none of this affected our stay or our enjoyment.

Would not hesitate to stay again

We had an awesome stay at the Salty Dog. The location was incredible, and we really liked the house: cool recipe books and other great books to read, games and puzzles, the hot tub, breathtaking views of the ocean. Grateful to the owner for making this place available.

The house had everything we needed and enjoyed our stay. Was not happy to learn, upon our arrival, that the beach access from the property was taken out by a storm. I know you cannot control mother nature, but it would have been nice to know ahead of time.

My fiancé and I celebrated our two year anniversary there. We did the glass float hunt by the visitor center, and we found two! It was a romantic little getaway.

You can't beat this location and the beautiful view. A quick drive into the Red Woods or head N. for a fun day in the dunes, this location is ideal. The house is fully stocked with all your needs, that was really great to see. The home does need a thorough, deep clean from cobwebs in the corners of rooms, to grime on/in the refrigerator and stove and tons and tons of ants - small sugar ants everywhere. We enjoyed the area and exploring both north and south up and down 101, it's just so incredibly breathtaking.

Great view of the ocean from the great room. House is a bit outdated but very cozy. Well stocked supplies. Kids had a great time and was grateful we were able to bring the dog!

Unfortunately the weather was not in our favor but none the less it was a wonderful stay. The beach is super close. The home is very private with a wonderfully located hot tub but still close to everything restaurants, shopping etc.

The house was perfect. Loved listening to the ocean. Relaxed by the fireplace. Soaked in the hot tub. Listened to the waves crashing with a big storm. Everything you could want for the beach!!Can’t wait to stay again.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Salty Dog, this is our second time staying here. It was comfy and the check in was easy.It was a bit chilly so built a cozy fire in the fireplace and also enjoyed the hot tub. Everything was as described. The walk to the beach was a bit difficult for me as some of the steps are coming loose and some missing. Overall, we had a very nice time on our visit and the weather was better than predicted which we appreciated! We would definitely stay at the Salty Dog again.

Wonderful place for a relaxing beach getaway. We watched beautiful sunsets from the deck, took the private path right to the beach, bbq’d on the blackstone grill, and enjoyed time in the hot tub. When it got cooler we lit a fire, played loads of games, watched one of hundreds of movies, & enjoyed the ocean view from the full wall of picture windows.Highly recommend!

The Salty Dog was wonderful. Great view of the Pacific Ocean and easy access to walk the beach. Recommend walking north up the street to High Tide Ave (4-5 houses) for the easiest access to the beach.

Communication before and during the stay was exceptional: Speedy and thorough :) The location, home, and amenities were great --- spending the day at the beach outside the doorstep followed by movies on the large screen TV -- all with room to spread out --made our summer's end very memorable. Hope to be back again next year!

Everything you would ever want or need in a beachfront vacation home. Absolutely perfect!

We enjoyed walking on the beach, watching beautiful sunsets, and sitting in the hot tub. We also went on Jerry's Jet Boat tour on the Rogue, it was awesome! We took a day trip to the California Redwoods. It was a relaxing trip for our family of four.

We were looking for a house on the beach that didn't break the bank and this one came through.

The Salty Dog has an ideal beach location, which was our primary criterion for a VRBO property. The house was very comfortable and provided for all of our needs, although these were limited, during our 3-day visit. Furnishings and decor were a time capsule from the 1980’s and the harsh seaside weather has created some exterior maintenance issues. However, this did not diminish a very enjoyable weekend getaway for my wife and I.
