Overall, the presentation online of the property was nothing like the actual property conditions. It was very dirty and improperly maintained. It also has several safety issues. The exterior of the house is in a state of neglect, with a significant overgrowth of vegetation, insects, spiders, and webs. Many of the plants and trees are dead. Majority of windows lacked screens. Even when attempting to open them to enjoy the fresh lake air, the overwhelming presence of spiders and insects deterred us from doing so. The house was not clean. There was 2 inches of dust on all the blinds, mold in the showers and spider webs throughout the house. Excessive grease trapped in the hood sidings dripped onto the stove during cooking. The kitchen hood was covered in thick grease and grime. We had to clean it thoroughly before using the stove safely. The oven was so dirty that when we used it our house got smoked out and we had to get the kids and dog out until we aired the house out. We were then required to clean the oven ourselves before use and the ignitor kept tripping until the second day After the oven smoked out we noticed that smoke alarms were non-functional. There were persistent electrical issues with the hot tub and stove circuits. The septic system was overflowed and very stinky. The fire pit was in terrible condition and not useable. The deck is falling apart with many rotted spots with holes where you can injure yourself. Overall, the property is in very poor cond.
The comments referenced a dream kitchen for a chef, yet we didn't find that there was an abundance of kitchen items to use. Pots/pans could use a refresh.
Saylors Point is an awesome property that has all the items you expect from a lake house. House is large and full of space. Property is big and semi secluded. Small open grass on the right and left of the house. Dock is really nice and view of other side of the lake. Up the shore line is a mini beach. Plenty of room for dogs, but lots of deer in the area that aren’t afraid of humans. Small touristy businesses around. Odd things are the bedrooms. There is a master king suit that is wonderful. Gas fire place, large windows, large window at the base of the eves, huge two person soaking tub, huge space. But the bed is almost 4 feet if the floor? I am 5’ 6” and it was up to my belly button. Literally had to jump into the bed and crawl in. The other king bed room was not impressive, no big windows, no fireplace, the bathroom was nice but not attached like a suit. And this bed was just above my knees it was so low. The kids bedroom up stairs was cool and kids will love it and their own bathroom. Big enough for two couples and those willing to sleep in the kids room. One gets the fairy tale room and one gets the dungeon? The rest of the house is amazing though. Kitchen has plenty of room in it. Stove is great. The wood fireplace is great to set in front of. The game room slash tv room is good also. Deck is fantastic! And watching the boats go by is relaxing. Overall its a very nice place as long as you understand the bedrooms.
Fantastic property with a lot of great space inside and out. The kitchen was also very well equipped and really appreciated that! We hope to stay here again in the future!
This home was perfect for a family with young kids. The children were comfortable and had fun sleeping upstairs. The kitchen and living area were great for relaxing and spending time as a family. We’ve been visiting Deep Creek for decades, and this property had the nicest lake views I’ve seen. The Blakeslee indoor pool was definitely an added benefit as well.
The property's location (lakefront), the patio, fireplace, and common areas (large living room and kitchen) in the house were terrific. The dock was also very nice. This vacation was outstanding. However, the housekeeping was marginal. The house could use heavy scrubbing everywhere (the deck, the tile in the bathrooms, baseboards-lots of cobwebs). We did call the rental agency on three occasions. We needed propane for dinner the first night. They delivered the propane ASAP and was much appreciated. However, we call again for the back door lock, and no hot water in half of the house on Friday morning. The rental agency stopped and fixed, but neither was truly fixed. Thankfully, I think the house had two hot water tanks, so we did have hot water in one bathroom. Lastly, the fourth bedroom above the garage was noticeably warmer than the rest of the house—poor ventilation. The owner should consider a stand-alone window unit. All things considered, a lovely vacation.
The property could use some light cleaning/dusting, BUT overall, the property was awesome! My family and I enjoyed staying there. We highly recommend Sailor's point.
We stayed here with another family (5 young children between us) and had an absolute blast! The kids loved the upstairs loft area with the four twin beds. They took that over as their hangout area and bedroom where they slept. It was great that there was a full bathroom upstairs as well. The house had plenty of room for all of us to eat, cook, relax and hang out. The kitchen was very large space had a nice range. The adults enjoyed both the indoor and outdoor fire place. The deck on this property is massive and overlooks the lake. It’s is the perfect location. We brought sleds and our kids had fun sledding in the backyard as well as on the frozen lake! The only issues we had were with the TVs and some burnt light bulbs. The rental company did come and switch out light bulbs and was able to get the TVs to cable. We were unable to access any streaming services, wished we had brought our fire stick for our kids. Otherwise we loved our stay and look forward to renting again in the future!
This property is amazing!!!! The outdoor living space is truly what made me book the property, and it exceeded my expectations. The deck is huge and sits under a beautiful canopy of trees which keep you cool. The fireplace on the deck is massive and the quality furniture that surrounds the fireplace was all I needed. I had a fire going all day and night. Privacy GALORE!!!! The lot and shoreline made this property a ten. We set our kayaks off from the rocky shore (zero mud). Our labs had the best vacation of their lives. They swam, and swam, and did I say swam. It was very dog friendly. They had plenty of room to run, swim, and sniff until they were exhausted. The neighborhood is very peaceful. I heard no other human voices. The only noise you hear are chipmunks running thru the leaves, Canadian Geese being very vocal, and an occasional boat passing by. There are so many neat areas that you can easily find a spot to be alone in a large group. A firepit at the end of a stone path, the adirondack chairs along the shoreline were a beautiful place to watch the brilliant sunrise, the dock for dipping in the water, and the expansive deck offered many different areas to sit and chat . I spent 90% of my time outdoors. The inside is nicely appointed. Two living rooms both with TV's. One living room had a two tables for card or board games and a foosball table as well. The home is very cozy. All bathrooms are updated. Kitchen is enormous and is a cook's dream. Wine cooler, five burner stove with a griddle, large refrigerator, beautiful cabinetry. The only negative comment is directed toward the housekeeping staff. The windows were filthy inside and out. The window sills and blinds needed dusted and cleaned of cobwebs. All of the furniture needed to be pulled away from the walls and dusted behind and under. Many of the lamps had cobwebs on the inside. The deck needs power washed and some of the trim needs repainted, but the canopy of trees is hard on a house so it is understandable. Otherwise, the house looks very good. I will definitely rent again without hesitation. The owners have created a magical place. Thank you for sharing it. I have traveled many places around the world in my life, but this was my favorite vacation EVER, and it is only one hour and fifteen minutes from home.
Nice location on a busy fun-filled lake. Be prepared for a lot of boat/jet ski traffic on the weekends. Weekdays were a good bit quieter. Boat traffic causes a lot of waves crashing into the shore so the water was a bit too muddy some days for swimming at the dock. We enjoyed fishing right off the dock-catching bass, pike, perch, catfish and of course sunfish. The outdoor fireplace was a great spot to end the evening with the whole family and some S’Mores! Be aware that being in the woods there are MANY Daddy Long Legs spiders especially on the back porch and in any rented kayaks/canoes left on shore. The WiFi was a bit glitchy at times, requiring many reconnections but was manageable for us. The Great Room and Family Room are sunk two steps down from the rest of the kitchen and bedrooms. This took some getting used to as there is no color differentiation between steps and floor. Hard to see in dim light. The kids room at the top level of the house was a bit warm. We were lucky it was a cooler week so not too uncomfortable. There are also skylights in that room which allow sunlight to “blast” two of the sleepers awake way earlier than desired. Some kind of close-able blinds would be a nice addition. The house is located just a short drive from some great local shops. The kids (and adults) had fun creating great flavor combinations at Deep Creek Donuts. Delicious!
