Cosy and convenient within walking distance of picturesque Lake Te Anau, this two-bedroom holiday home is steeped in history and equipped with everything you need for your next Southland escape. Welcome to Rustlein Cottage!

Built by the present owner's grandfather in the mid 1940's, Rustlein Cottage was the first prefabricated crib in Te Anau. Since then, this family holiday home has been loved and cherished to retain its vintage charm so others can enjoy the unique feeling of stepping back in time without having to miss out on modern day comforts.

Come together after a day of adventure in the welcoming living area, where you can enjoy year-round comfort thanks to the handy heat pump and electric fireplace, and be entertained with complimentary WiFi and the TV with Freeview and DVD player.

A basic, yet fully-equipped kitchen has all the essentials you need for your stay. Pour a hot coffee to kick start your day, or whip up a heart feast to fuel your next in this beautiful town and beyond.

Rustlein Cottage has a wonderful outdoor area which boasts fresh blooms and a large flat and fully fenced lawn; the perfect space for the kids to play.

Two-bedrooms comfortably sleep up to five guests here at Rustlein Cottage, making this an ideal spot for a couples getaway or potentially a family trip, with the additional bedding, to hit the trails and visit Fiordland.

When it’s time to explore the incredible Te Anau surroundings, just a three-minute drive away you'll find the Real Journey's terminal for trips to Milford or Doubtful Sound as well as the Te Anau Glowworm Caves. Or for the brave, jump off the wharf into the lake.

Fancy a bite to eat Te Anau has an array of local cafes, restaurants, and bars just a 2-minute drive or 11-minute walk from Rustlein Cottage.

If you’re wanting to travel further afield, a six-minute drive will find you at the Kepler Track starting point, or drive two hours to discover the beauty of Milford Sound. Top tip; give yourself three hours for the drive in to leave plenty of time for photo stops!

Full of character and ideal for your next adventure to Te Anau, make a stop by Rustlein Cottage!
Please note a bond may be charged at certain times of the year. One of our team members will contact you if this is required for your booking.

Good value with all the basics. Some maintenance and spring cleaning needed for cobwebs but greatly appreciated the lovely crisp cotton sheets and woollen blankets as options instead of polyester.

We loved the place, the location, all of it. It’s a perfect unpretentious old Kiwi batch with tissue-thin walls and no frills, straight from the 40s. A gentle suggestion, at 450 a night it would be great to have 2-ply toilet paper and some milk in the fridge.

Apart from a bathroom issue, our first impression of the cottage was good. Had everything we needed and only a short walk to the shops, cafes and lake. A little gem!
