Overall our trip was wonderful and we love coming to Seaside. This was our first time in this house. The layout of the house was very nice and we appreciated the large kitchen table and porch setup. The dishes provided were very nice, bedding seemed clean and comfortable. We wondered what the owners did with their groceries as there was no obvious storage. Some suggestions:The front door was hard to open and close and a keypad would have made access easier for my handicapped mom who could not retrieve the key from the lock box. The house itself needs a few repairs. Some cabinet doors need to be re-hung/tightened, we feared the bookshelf might topple, the blinds would not stay open, shower ceilings need to be cleaned, the stove knob broke while we were there, etc All easy fixes. One big disappointment was the new furniture at the pool. Our mom could not get in or out of the new chaise loungers and no longer having the option to adjust the back of the loungers was a loss for the readers among us. It made time at the pool less enjoyable. We enjoyed exploring Seaside as usual, we found the best margaritas at pickles sandbar, and loved going to Modica Market in the mornings. We rented bikes and loved riding around the area. Friends of our family have booked the house for next year

We had purchased trip insurance. On the 24th of September Hurricane Helene formed in the gulf. On Wednesday the spaghetti models were showing a chance of the Hurricane hitting Seaside. CNN was calling for power outages, possibly weeks long, and storm surges. Schools were cancelled. The seaside transit authority closed at 3pm on Wednesday and was not reopening until 1PM Friday. Amy Wise Coble, General Manager, texted that they were operating remotely on Thursday and would only return on Friday when safe to do so. Amy also texted that winds could reach 73 MPH. We were vacationing with a 3 and 1 year-old and due to staff warnings left early. We purchased the insurance provided by Homeowners Collection and were denied trip interruption compensation. Because of the prices charged and the useless Homeowners recommended trip insurance, we will not by vacationing at Seaside again.

Reviewer Comments: This is our 3rd year renting Up on The Roof for our Annual Family Reunion. The fully equipped kitchen allowed our professional chef (son) to bake & cook for our family. It has an outdoor beach toy locker & living room game & toy cabinet.The upstairs primary bedroom's (windowless) walk-in closet is big enough for a playpen, 2 other bedrooms have a nook which can also accommodate a playpen (bring your black-out playpen cover). The house had 2 portable playpens!

The upstairs office was a huge bonus for those needing a well planned quiet space to stay in touch with offices. Especially loved the top deck at night where you could almost touch the stars!

The house was perfectly located away from the main traffic area, but still close to the beach. Loved it!

This is the second stay for our extended family and we will be back! We absolutely love the home, the location, the whole experience was perfect!

There is a spacious, light filled open floor plan on the first level. The house could use a deep cleaning, maintenance and minor repairs, cleaning supplies, and decent cookware. I would stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking in Seaside.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our overall experience was positive however, there are areas that need improvement. The house is in a great location...quiet, peaceful and a short walk to the beach and to Seaside Square. The house is spacious and we especially loved the porches. However, we had to clean the furniture on the front porch before we could use it. The furniture and garden in the back were a mess and we didn't want to put forth the effort to clean the furniture, so we didn't use that area. The house needed some TLC. The front and back exterior doors as well as the downstairs bathroom doors were difficult to open and close. The downstairs shower head was loose and spayed me in the face when I turned it on. We were able to tighten the connections enough to stop the spray/leak. The cleaning people should have caught that and corrected it when they cleaned. The bedrooms were a good size but the mattresses were very uncomfortable. For the money we paid, I would have expected better attention being paid to the maintenance of the house.

The deep AND wide front porch and the open downstairs LR/DR/kitchen floor plan is it's best asset.However, it needs minor maintenance: outside shower runs out of hot water, downstairs interior shower curtain (covering the sliding glass door to the outside shower needs a shower was nailed to the wall, yes, really!) Bathroom sinks drained slowly, downstairs toilet continued to flush several times (on it's own) or just kept running, master bath's light out, broken refrigerator bins & broken freezer bins, broken kitchen cabinet hinge and the owner's rusty bikes are stored in front of the house.
