Bozeman, Montana
The Rocking H Ranch House sleeps up to eight in three bedrooms and features a hot tub, lots of privacy, and mountain views. There are actually four bedrooms and upon arrival, guests choose which three they will use. (see photos), The largest bedroom has bunk beds and a queen bed with a curtain divider. The Rocking H is an ideal home and space for a family or a romantic, quiet get-away. There is lots of space for people to spread out in three sitting areas. The yard is the size of two football fields with parking for six cars and even a large RV. Parking inside the two-car garage is also available.
It’s the perfect base camp. The Rocking H is 10 minutes from Bozeman’s Main Street and 15 minutes from the Bozeman’s international airport (BZN). The west entrance of Yellowstone National Park in West Yellowstone is a 1.5-hour drive through beautiful Gallatin Canyon. Big Sky Ski Resort is 48 minutes away, and Bridger Bowl Ski Area is a close 30-minute drive. Rafting/floating/fishing on the Madison River is 25 minutes away.
Bozeman Hot Springs, where you can soak in healing hot water, is 4 minutes away by car. The Rocking H is also a 4-minute drive from a public 3-par golf course and fishing on the famous Gallatin River. Guests are given a code to enter the home, and the code changes with each new guest.
The Rocking H is outfitted with everything you need to cook for a large group. In addition to a large dining table near the kitchen which can seat 10-12 if you have guests, there is kitchen table which seats 4, and a kitchen bar which seats 2. There are 12 place settings of western-style dishes plus plastic dishes for little tykes.
The lower level of the house is always cool in the summer, but there are four standing room air conditioners on the main level to cool it down on the occasional hot day. There are heaters in all rooms and a cozy gas fireplace you can run anytime for that fun fireplace feel.
The full lower level with large windows has a pool table, foosball, bar, and the gas fireplace mentioned above. Kids love the lower-level bunk room that sleeps four.
The Rocking H has four TVs. Each television has local channels, Roku systems with Sling for basic cable channels and sports, and Netflix and Amazon Prime for movies.
The original homeowner was a local college rodeo rider, a Montana State Senator, and one of the first landowners in the area when farmland was turned into building lots years ago. The house is still used for extended family gatherings. The grandkids won't allow remodeling, so guests should expect a cozy nostalgic feel in this clean, functional, spacious, and set-up-for-entertainment country get-away. This ranch-style home might feel like a trip back to the 70’s in Southwestern Montana. This home has not been remodeled since it was built, and it's holding up well as the images suggest. Complete with wood paneling and carpeted floors, the home is authentic, clean, and comfortable.
In addition to the large hot tub on the back deck, there are two tables, an umbrella, a sunbed, and a gas barbecue grill and deck fireplace. Watching the sunrise or the alpine glow on the mountains at sunset from the hot tub on the back deck is a pretty nice way to spend some time. Kids enjoy playing on the old horse wagon in the horse pasture out back, and it makes great family photos.
Up to two dogs are welcome. Guests will pay a pet fee. Sadly, cats are not allowed due to allergies.
The large driveway and porch and deck are plowed and shoveled by a service after any snowfall of 3 inches or more. There are shovels and rock salt for you to use for your own walking safety. Hot tub is professionally cleaned before each stay and additional cleansing chemicals are available. Please use hot tub and bunk beds carefully at your own risk.
This property operates legally as a short-term rental in the State of Montana. It is permitted by Gallatin County. The property has been inspected and approved for guests by the fire department and health department. The well water is tested annually. The septic system has been approved for up to eight people staying in three bedrooms. All cleaners are licensed and certified in standard health and safety standards. These licenses and this protocol are an investment in our guest’s safety.
We enjoyed our stay. The home is older but has great history. Very well appointed and nice spaces for anything and all interests.
Great size with all the amenities. Private and allowed pets. Did find a wine class in bottom of hot tub. No worries, but could have been dangerous. And oven had oven cleaner in it that wasn’t wiped out. The downstairs area was perfect for our teenagers to play pool and bring their video games. Stay was very enjoyable.
Perfect for our needs!
Had everything we needed. Was clean and well equiped for our band of skiers. Got good use of the pool table and hot tub. The recliners in tv room were great. Would highly recommend and will return again.
All was good ! Recommendations would be to add frying pan that does not cause scrambled eggs to stick - real pain to clean. Also the grill is no good for cooking nice steaks. Excessive flames. Otherwise all good !
Check in was easy, the home was better than anticipated. Fully stocked with everything we needed, the hot tub was amazing after a long day in the cold. Neighborhood was quiet and friendly. There was something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing your home. We did a lot of outdoor adventuring and it was wonderful to come home to such a beautiful, relaxing home!
This place could not have been more perfect for us. It was exactly as advertised online. It was only my husband, my son & myself, but it was so spacious it could have easily fit several more people. The enormous front yard was wonderful for throwing balls for our dogs, and it was heavenly to see the neighbor’s horse in the back pasture. The house came fully stocked with laundry detergent, fabric softener, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. that was much appreciated because I’ve stayed at other vrbos that only had very small quantities that ran out after a day or two. (And I never expect to have a surplus of supplies like that available to us, so it was a very nice surprise!) The driveway was enormous- plenty of space to park our 24’ RV. The neighborhood was lovely- nice houses all with huge lawns. Nice neighborhood to walk our dogs in. The location was exactly what we wanted. Nice & quiet, Just on the outskirts of Bozeman & easy to get to anything you could need or want. It made us chuckle in the beginning of our stay because we accidentally kept turning into the street directly before our street. The wrong turn led us to the parking lot of a caramel company & we ended up buying a few big bags of Béquet caramels they were so good!!! We would definitely stay here again!!!!!!!!!!
Property was nice Reno was easy to work with and responsive. Lots of room. I know 70% of the homes don’t have central air in Bozeman but in August it gets warm even with the room air conditioning in some of the rooms. Our third time staying at the property.
Reno the local was great house was best provisioned house we have ever rented. Recommend to anyone with a family
Really enjoyed the privacy and the quiet surroundings. The easy-to-use four-person hot tub was a great extra perk. The owner provided an abundance of info about accessing the features of the house and was very easy to work with.
