At night a cozy fire-pit with surrounding rustic chairs gives you a perfect end to a day in the mountains.
Inside, Riverside Cabin has two good sized bedrooms, one with a bathroom en-suite and also provides for two more with a sleeper-sofa. The kitchen is well stocked and features a breakfast bar with two high stools. There is an attractive rustic dining-table and chairs and in the living room area, a very comfortable ambiance is helped by the wood floors, tongue and groove cathedral ceiling, a gas fireplace and attractive 'mountainy' furniture. Riverside Cabin is only about three miles from the Mast General Store in historic Valle Crucis, in the Northwestern section of Watauga County and is only about thirty minutes drive from one of the area's best kept secrets – the spectacularly beautiful Watauga Lake, just over the nearby Tennessee state line. Downtown Boone is within fifteen minutes, as is Banner Elk - accessible via a scenic short cut just down the road.

The listing for the property seem private and great for pets. It advertised privacy in the gated dog lot. The gated lot had multiple areas at the bottom 6 inches or more where a lot of dogs could get out, causing me not to leave my dog out without supervision out of fear he could get out. Multiple dogs across the river were constantly loose and were running across the river into our yard making it impossible for us to take our dogs near the water or enjoy the area. The hot tub had clearly not been cleaned as there was a lot of debris in the bottom. The deck had not been blown off or swept in so long it was absolutely covered in sticky yellow debris off of trees as well as every chair was covered with months of dead foliage. Every time my dogs went out they came in covered in these and I had to spend a ton of time picking them off the dogs and myself leaving me and the dogs both a sticky mess. Both screen doors have the screen almost completely ripped out and the doors don’t latch thus allowing the dogs to be able to just walk out so I couldn’t even leave any of the doors open to enjoy the fresh air. And lastly, two of the three remotes for the TV had dead batteries meaning the entire weekend every time I want to turn the TV on or off or adjust the volume I had to get up and go across the room to adjust same. Not the end of the world, but not what you expect for what was paid for two nights.
Great Stay!! Not a long enough stay for me! Beautiful area, plenty of room the property is overall Very Nice!! View is wonderfully relaxing. Everything was extremely clean. It was very cold during our stay but we were super comfy!
This property is quiet and with a big back yard overlooking a stream. It was great to bring our dog for our family get away. It was what we were looking for in terms of remoteness without any steep roads in the winter. It is a little remote and takes 20 minutes to get to groceries, attractions. BUT at the same time not too far to anything. There’s a great little restaurant close by as well as a nice park with dog walking trails. We would book again if heading to that area.
Nice quiet place to unwind
Property was exactly as listed :)
Unfortunately, we were unable to stay at this property as we arrived right at the height of Tropical Storm Nicole. The property itself seemed a little older/worn than the pictures indicated. There were animal stains on the bedroom carpets and a bit of a lingering odor. We are thankful to management for finding us another property to stay at during our visit since the river was literally up to/under the house and continuing to rise. Odd for sure and still recommend this home for families with pets and desire for rustic cabin with room to roam outdoors - when there isn't a storm!
It was a wonderful get away. Went on several hikes Linville falls, Otter falls, Crab orchard falls, Hebron and Boone fork trail, and horseback riding on dutch creek trails and checked out Valle Crucis community park. We enjoyed family time with badminton, horseshoes, playing in the river, playing football in the large lawn, and nightly fires for s'mores or dinner. We used the wegoshop app for groceries, that was a nice treat for me (mom). Any questions I had were answered quickly, or addressed. The property didn't have a ping pong table during our stay, it had been ruined and they weren't able to replace it befoour stay. so might want to check on that before your stay.
Perfect location and beautiful property. We will definitely be looking into staying here again!
Beautiful views, lovely home, plenty to do!
We enjoyed our Christmas stay! The house was off the beaten path and peaceful. We loved the fenced area for our dog too, giving him more freedom. The house was clean except for cobwebs on the ceilings in a few rooms. The kitchen was lacking some essentials, like a cutting board and measuring cups/spoons. Overall it was a great place to stay and only about 35 minutes from Beech Mountain.
