While the home has some nice features, we were unable to use most of it because there was NO HEAT. When we arrived, the temperature in the house was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. We contacted Vacasa and were told that there were space heaters in the closet. Throughout the night, temperatures dropped to near freezing. Coupled with drafty windows and doors, for all but two rooms, the house was unusable. And since the heaters were not set up when we arrived, we slept in all of our clothes because it took hours for the rooms to heat up. In its current form, the house is just not suitable for a four season rental. The owners should be more transparent in the listing (note: space heaters are not an amenity and will not heat a house of this size especially in its current condition)Vacasa made no attempt to make it remedy the situation. It is a shame, because the outdoor areas (deck, grounds, seating, river access, hot tub) are great. But in cooler weather, you’ll need to be inside…and for that you’ll want heat.
This funky, spacious property was just perfect for two couples for a cycling holiday. We loved hanging out in all the social spaces, inside and out. The river was great to cool off in. The routes inland, south in the forests, and west to the coast are excellent for road biking. The gardens were beautiful & the fencing made parking & setting up the bikes secure. We appreciated the hot tub after one misty ride. We had no problems with rodents, since we kept all our food in the fridge. We had a lot of trouble with inconsistency across the app, emails, texts, and at the site. Vacasa needs to make the arrival, use, and departure info easy to find and consistently available in all locations (we didn’t get the checkout instructions until after we’d left, as an email, for example).
We celebrated my 60th and my daughters 30th- 7 family total including mom who’s 82! We floated, we grilled, we toasted and we all had a WONDERFUL time. The house is very special and we felt honored to be able to stay here!
We loved this place for it's amazing location and plan to return. Being right on the river is everything. It is right next to Mother's Beach and lots of people came onto the property on the weekend so bring your stuff up when you aren't around the beach area. This is an old house which makes it absolutely charming and a bit rustic at the same time. It could use some personal attention (leaking faucet/moldy shower curtain/cobwebs/etc.) vs. the vrbo property management from afar. The mouse problem is real (we could hear them in the walls downstairs and we left an apple out and it got nibbled) but totally manageable if you follow the suggestion of putting all food/garbage in laundry room at night, cleaning counters/etc. No mouse poop everywhere. Did not impact us at all. There are not as many stairs as some Russian River properties and the grounds were beautiful, with huge redwood trees. We didn't use the hot tub as the previous guests got in dirty and it just felt a bit risky but we are babies. Frankly, after paddling and swimming all day we crashed at night anyway so the motivation factor was low for us. There is a lot of space in each room and the large dining room table easily seating 8 feels wonderful. The two decks and grounds with tons of seating areas made it easy to find some privacy and peace if you wanted. You can be outside in the sun or shade any time of day with decks on both sides of the house. The two sit on top kayaks were great. Coming back asap!
We had a wonderful time at this home! A group of six adults had plenty of space in this unique home! Big bedrooms with extra space for air mattresses and two huge decks perfect for grilling, star gazing and watching people float by on the river. We parked a car a couple miles up from the home and ended our tubing trip right at our backyard. So convenient! Home was clean and looks better than it does in pictures. Hot tub worked well! Only thing to mention is that you have to bring your own propane for the grill. However they will reimburse you if you tell the management company. Overall we had a great time!
Great location right on the river and a few houses down from Mother's Beach which was great to walk to during the day with our family. The house has a fun antique vibe, but needs some TLC in regards to cob webs/cleaning. Our main concern was there were rats in the house (we actually saw them- yikes) and they got into our food each night (so much so nothing could be left out and we had to spend the morning cleaning up poop before we could let our toddler son walk around). Tried to contact the company about this but didn't receive a call back. We also paid extra for late check out but the door code was inactivated at the initial earlier check out time (important to keep in mind if the whole group goes out on an excursion as you'd be locked out of the house!)
Comfortable beds, numerous places to relax. We enjoyed the hot tub. Overall good stay, but there is a mouse problem and communication with Vacasa was frustrating.
