Cooper Landing, Alaska
This is a very private 2700 sq ft waterfront home on the Kenai River at the end of the road in Cooper Landing, Alaska. We have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. We are located on the low-bank side of the river just below the Kenai River Princess Lodge, just up stream from the Upper Kenai River rapids. Our 400 yd. long gravel bar is a favorite stop for most of the guides for Trout.
The king sized master bedroom has a private bath, sitting area, balcony and a spectacular mountain view. The two Queen sized bedrooms have beautiful river views. There is a bunk room down stairs as well as two futon doubles in the upstairs game room. There is a full sized washer and dryer. The granite kitchen offers full sized appliances and is fully equipped to make your gourmet fish dinners, lunches and breakfast. We have a full sized freezer in the garage to keep all your fish and there is a cleaning table with water out by the rivers edge for fish cleaning. We provide a Food Saver vacuum packer, bring bags
Fishing in the Area: There is a wealth of things to do in the area. Fishing is probably #1 and fly fishing for Rainbow out back is great and there are a wealth of guides for all types of float trips down the river. The Russian River confluence is about 10 min. away for great Salmon fishing. Beautiful Seward is 45 to 50 min. away for great salt water charters for Halibut, Ling Cod, Rock fish and Silver Salmon. Kenai Lake & Skelack Lake offers some big Lake Trout and there are a great number of smaller lakes in the area. The Kenai River offers all 5 species of Salmon along with world record Rainbow trout and Dolly Varden. Local Guides for all of the above are available. The lower river has some of the best King Salmon fishing in the world and I believe we still hold the world record for Kings.
Other Activities: World class hiking trails are numerous in the immediate area along with very gentle easy hikes like the trail to the Russian River Falls for bear viewing. Wild life and bird viewing abound even in the back yard at times. Glacier and whale viewing tours from Seward are fantastic and make a great day trip. Mountain biking, horse back riding , and kayaking are available locally.

This was by far our favorite VRBO house! The house was fully stocked. The location is perfect. We fished for salmon in the Russian River and caught quite a few. We went rafting, which was just a couple of minutes from the house. We also did a glacier tour down in Whittier. The view from the house is amazing and so relaxing. We hope to be back in a couple of years and will definitely see if this house is available. The hosts were very accommodating and available if needed. This was a trip where many great memories were made.
We really enjoyed staying at this house right on the river. We had plenty of space for everyone and really enjoyed the outside space. What could be any better than walking out the back door and fishing next to the campfire spot just a few feet from the house? It was great! The house had everything we needed for the 4 days we were there.
The views are great from all the rooms whether looking at the mountains or the river it was amazing. The house is very comfortable and spacious the kitchen is well supplied with whatever you need to use Michael was very helpful will all our needs. We will definitely be staying there again
We stayed for 10 days in July 2023 and ventured out daily for activities. Approximately an hour to most places Seward, Kenai, Soldotna, Girdwood. 2 1/2 from Anchorage, Homer and the Homer Spit. Great fishing, float trips, and hiking in the area. Michael is a wonderful host and helped up meet all of our needs including extra keys for when our party wanted to spend days exploring separately. We enjoyed the gazebo out back and a bon fire by the river while the boys fished. Well stocked kitchen and many unexpected supplies were available in the house (including bear spray!). Our family would definitely stay here again.
Great Alaska family vacation. Beautiful views and great fishing from the backyard. Great location for all activities. House was perfect for our family of 6 and a 15 month old toddler. The house had plenty of rooms for 7 of us. Had portable crib and a high chair. Kitchen stocked and amenities were fantastic. Michael was great in helping us with fishing information and helped with fishing rentals. The house does have some rods to use. We definitely will return.
Fishing in the back yard! Plenty of room for our group of 5. Kitchen was beautifully stocked with everything we needed. Firestick TV was great. We missed the second Silver run but had a blast catching Rainbows and Dolly Varden up and down the Kenai. Laundry was handy.
We had a great time. The views of the river are spectacular! It was a convenient location to explore all of the kenai peninsula. Michael was very responsive.
Family vacation. Alaska is beautiful. Enjoyed the stay on the river. Amenities provided were fantastic. Location was great. Would do it all over again!!
The guys did lots of fishing. Took home 126lbs
Easy enough
Ideal location well equipped
The three days our eight-person adult family group spent at this house were unanimously voted to be by far the best three days of our 10-day trip to Alaska, because of the house itself and because of the many active things you can do while staying there. First, in the house everything was clean and in good condition. The owners provided much useful information in advance of our trip and the house manager, Michael, was very responsive and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed cooking meals at the house because the kitchen is so well equipped, and lots of basic food items are supplied, like salt, pepper, coffee, tea, olive oil, spices and canned goods. The outside gazebo was a fun space to spend a long evening. Second, the location is perfect, no more than two minutes from anything we wanted to do in the area. We rented fishing equipment, fished for trout off the nearby riverbanks, hiked the trail to the Russian River, did a half-day float trip down the Kenai River, and had the unexpected chance to be there for the first day of the second Sockeye salmon run. We had great cocktails and dinner at Gwin’s, and a pleasant lunch and beer tasting at the dog-and-kid-friendly Cooper Landing Brewing Company on the banks of Lake Kenai. On our drive from Anchorage to the house, we also saw several sites along Turnagain Arm and visited the Wildlife Conservation Center on the drive to the house and did a very successful 6-hour iceberg-, whale- and wildlife-watching cruise out of Seward to the Kenai Fjords National Park before returning to Anchorage. We all wished we had more days at the house to explore other parts of the Kenai Peninsula, particularly Homer, Soldotna and the Portage Valley.
Everything about our stay was top notch. The spare fishing gear, the very friendly hosts and great fishing location. I definitely plan on returning someday. Thank you again for making our first trip to Alaska so wonderful.
What a great place on the river. Owner was great to work with. We had everything we needed plus an extra refrig in garage. Hope to return someday.
