Enjoy a spectacular get-away on the Withlacoochee River. This house is situated right on the riverbank and it offers a stunning deck beneath an old southern oak draped in Spanish moss - you'll find the deck to be the perfect place for relaxing at the end of the day.
The Withlacoochee (Native American for crooked river) flows peacefully by, about 40 feet from the living room window, and directly below the backyard deck. On this scenic waterway, you're close to nature - explore by canoe, kayak or boat. Venture downriver, and you may see osprey, roseate spoonbills, wood storks, egrets, herons, otters, alligators, manatees or dolphins.
You’ll love overlooking the river, the quiet location, and the awesome deck and dock. You will have two tropically-styled bedrooms at opposite ends of a great room. The master bedroom is large, featuring a comfy king-sized bed and an ensuite bathroom. The second bedroom is average in size and has a nice, comfy, queen-sized bed. This bedroom has en-suite access to a bathroom that is also accessible from the living room. The kitchen is open to the great room, and is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, etc. You'll enjoy dining in, if you like to cook. The great room has a large stone fireplace. The Florida room has a wall of windows overlooking the river.
Visit historic Yankeetown, just five minutes away and stroll on tree-line Riverside Drive or experience fine dining at the Blackwater Grill, overlooking the water. Don't miss the Withlacoochee Gulf Preserve, and its scenic board walk through coastal salt marsh and climb the observation tower for views to the Gulf of Mexico.
Spend the day away, and enjoy Three Sisters Springs, Rainbow Springs, Manatee Springs, Silver Springs, or Homosassa State Park. All these are within an hour drive. (Three Sisters and Rainbow Springs are less than 30 minutes.) In summer, enjoy scalloping in the shallow waters of the Gulf, between Crystal River and Homosassa. If you have your own boat, you can launch it in Yankeetown at the public boat ramp, just ten minutes from the house. From there, you'll find yourself to be a few miles from the Gulf, with easy power-boating access to Crystal River and Cedar Key.
This house is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, kayakers, boaters, and small families. Come enjoy this river adventure on Florida's nature coast. It's a perfect base to explore Yankeetown / Crystal River and the nature coast, with access to wildlife, manatees, springs, and summer scalloping. It's also a perfect place to relax and look out on the beautiful Withlacoochee River.
Clean and quiet with comfy bed. Huge deck where one can enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon tea while watching the lazy river go by!
Neighborhood and house is very dated but quiet. Kitchen equipment plentiful but again dated. If you wish to cook, bring your own pans. Mattress was beginning to roll towards center. It was a great camping experience for our shortened stay.
Nice home on the river. Enjoyed the large deck and sunroom. Not much going on in Inglis, but did have good meals at Swampy's, Charlie's Fish house and Blackwater restaurant. Saw lot's of manatees at the park in Crystal River.
This is the best VRBO that we have ever stayed in. This house has everything, all you have to do is show up! I think the owners have thought about everything, they have kayaks, bikes helmets, fishing poles, grill, plenty of seating, awesome views, wildlife and the best stocked kitchen I have seen in a VRBO and you cant beat the price! We couldnt have been happier and plan to book for a week next summer. If you get the chance to rent this house do it,you will not be disappointed.
We enjoyed our stay! When looking for a place to stay at, what got our attention was the backyard of this home. It’s exactly as the pictures! What we didn’t enjoy was the amount of spider eggs & webs all over the deck, needs major pressure cleaning to get rid of it all. But besides that it was truly a great home! We went out in the kayaks & saw in our surroundings a couple of alligators. We also enjoyed fishing from the back deck! Restaurants are all close by & opened till late. I would recommend this wonderful home for a peaceful getaway!!
We would stay here again!
What am amazing view the deck's set this one apart from all the rest. The home was so comfortable it was an awesome adventure
Having a cup of coffee on the beautiful deck in the morning, or a glass of wine in the evening, was absolutely fantastic! Serene and peaceful, and there was always something to see/watch on the river - birds, turtles, fish, alligators, and even manatees. Highly recommend taking the kayak upstream. The house is clean, spacious, and has everything you need. Ursula was always responsive and helpful. We had a wonderful time, and definitely hope to return!
My wife, dog, and I had a great stay at the River House. The pictures are spot on. Very roomy place with everything that is needed. As we have been looking at the same walls for the last year with COVID, we relocated and worked from the River House for the week and played in the late afternoons and weekends. The views out of the Florida Room and off the back deck are beautiful. Few things are better than having a cocktail on the back deck and watching all the wildlife. We saw a couple of alligators (may have been the same one) going up and down the river and a manatee also! Nice and quiet neighborhood for us to walk our dog (we didn't let her near the water as she would want to swim with the alligators) and ride our bikes. About 10 miles from Crystal River and Dunnellon (where we highly recommend Swampy's.) We look forward to going again soon!
Very quiet and restful stretch of the Withlacoochee river. The house is amazing as well. Huge amount of space, nice kitchen, great shower! A bit remote but Crystal River is an easy 10 minute drive, lots of good dining in the area.
