This 1960's quintessential Australian beach house will take you back to childhood holidays and simpler times.

One of the original Pambula beach houses it offers prime location on the beach road, just three minutes walk from where the river meets the sea. Lovingly refurbished in mid-century style, the house has ocean views from the balcony and both picture windows (lounge room and sun room) The open fireplace will have you snugged up for lounge room whale watching (July to November), the balcony will have you lazing in the sun, wondering if you should amble to the beach or make a G & T. A great selection of cooking books are provided along with an extensive range of novels for both adults and children.

The house was built by my family when Pambula Beach was a sleepy and secluded haven and it still maintains a quiet and relaxed feel. The native garden and adjacent bush block is rich with bird life and is visited each dusk by grazing kangaroos.

House configuration:
2 bedrooms: 1 queen bed, 1 double bed and 1 single bed in sunroom
2 living areas: open plan kitchen, lounge and dining room. Sun room with special feature wave wall and sandblasted mermaid window
Ocean facing deck
Backyard: BBQ and outdoor dining area

To access secluded Little Beach, stroll across the road and down through the nature reserve. A short walk across the rocks to the north takes you to a patrolled surf beach, and just around the corner to the south is the scenic river, a great spot for kids to swim and adults to fish.

There are abundant activities available here and in surrounding areas:
Beach and river fishing
Well designed walking and bike riding paths between Pambula Beach and Merimbula
Pambula (a 2 minute drive from the house) has a great Bakery, Wholefood Shop and several restaurant options
Pambula-Merimbula Golf Course
Beowa National park: numerous beaches (open surf and river beaches) plus great nature walks through bushland and well informed signage on Indigenous local history (middens)
Dolphin and whale watching cruises (depending on season)
Local Restaurants and Clubs in Merimbula and Eden
Scenic Flights
.. and the list goes on

Please note: Linen not provided, please bring sheets, towels, bath mat and tea towels with you. If guests prefer to have linen supplied a linen service is available at an additional cost, please specify if you would like this service prior to confirming booking.
The tariff covers the cost of a standard clean. If used the BBQ and fireplace should be left clean, all beds made, dishes washed, dried and put in cupboards. If more than a standard clean is required the extra cost will be deducted from the bond.

Quirky fun holiday house in great location . (Top Tip: if you are coming from overseas like us you won't want to carry your linen with you. We bought some at the Merimbula supermarket and opshop. )

Stay was excellent. Great property, everything you needed there, fantastic view for whale watching. Only let down was the lack of comfort in main bed and inside lounge and chairs.

Lovely retro beach house as advertised. Fabulous view of the ocean from the deck and dining table - lots of sightings of whales which was an unexpected bonus! Lots of kangaroos around in the morning and evenings, and beautiful beach and river within 5 minutes walking distance. Comfortable beds and good WiFi were much appreciated.

Love sitting on the balcony in the mornings watching the sun rise over Haycock Point. The changing colours of the cliffs, the sparkling water, and wave sounds are very calming. Easy walk to Lions beach and the river mouth. The house is relaxed and very welcoming which is why we keep going back.

We had a great stay in the gorgeous retro beach house. It is so conveniently located to the small beach at Pambula & there is a great deck overlooking the water to enjoy a morning coffee. We would highly recommend.

Had a very relaxing break in our favourite retro house. Great to be able to get away in these uncertain times. Daily walks to the beach and river mouth, watching the wildlife, surfing, fishing and reading books.

We loved our stay at Rutherglen. The moment we walked in the door we felt at home. The kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, cooking utensils and things you might need. The Sun shone on the veranda every morning and the view of the sea from the picture window was relaxing. The retro furniture and fixtures brought back many memories. The bed was comfortable. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
