We’ve spent Christmas at Sea Ranch for the last 4 years and this home was the best yet. Lovely ocean and sunset views, comfortably furnished, lots of firewood and when we had a minor problem it was quickly resolved.
Seal Moor is ideally located, a ten minute walk to the beach. The house is spacious layout, master on main floor, living room upstairs, lowest floor two bedrooms. Living room view as noted in photo, loved sitting on cozy window seat overlooking nature. We played soothing classical music through the dish TV, enjoyed coffee in front of the fire. Decor charming, kitchen well supplied. We arrived cleaning was pristine. Beds very comfortable. Only drawbacks, overall the house is a bit shabby, carpet needs deep clean or replacement, many electrical outlets did not work. Kitchen light broken. But would still stay here again!
Nicely laid out house, with master bedroom and bath on one side, and living room and kitchen up a half a level. Two bedrooms downstairs which we did not use because it was just the two of us. The downstairs was much colder, as it does not get as much sun. My wife and I agreed that the master bed was the most comfortable of all the houses that we have stayed at in Sea Ranch. The kitchen is small but functional, well stocked with lots of pots and pans for cooking (we brought our favorite non-stick pan but we needn't have). The dining area table seats six in its compact form, but has internal leaves that we did not use. Not sure if there are more chairs, however. The location is good, about a 10 minute walk to Shell Beach, and 5 minutes from the bluff trail. One thing that we were a bit disappointed about was the listing stated that there was EV charging capability. There was no EVSE, but I brought my own to plug into a 240V outlet if there was not one on site. Unfortunately, the 240 outlet did not provide the connectivity to allow my EV (Ford Mustang Mach e) to charge. However, there is an active level 2 charging station at the Sea Ranch Lodge, with plans to add a few more in the coming months.
perfect for our family. a bbq and recycling instructions would've been nice
Loved this house, great location as it’s a quick walk down to the beach. We enjoyed the view from the deck and loved the window seat in the living room. Was nice that the house provided wood for a fire, however the downstairs gets quite cold at night and master suite didn’t get heat. Downsides: first off the 2 car minimum was inconvenient for 6 of us with 4 cars. We also drove far to get to Sea Ranch and had to pick up the key in Gualala (15 mins north) instead of a lock box. First off the internet did not work so we had to use each others hot spots on our phones. The kitchen was much smaller than it looks on the listing, and both lights were broken so it was difficult to cook at night. All outlets in the master bathroom were broken also. Overall we loved the layout and would recommend if management fixes a few things!
The home is in a great location, short walking distance to a secluded beach. Lots of little trails to walk. Only a few minutes drive to the newly-renovated Sea Ranch Lodge, and a few minutes to the local grocery store. The only small hiccup we had is that the heat was on full blast when we arrived and it was nearly unbearable (the weather outside was warmer than usual), so we had to open windows and wait a couple hours to cool down. Otherwise, extremely lovely place and we plan to come back ASAP.
Property has updated bedrooms-comfortable beds, clean linens, and better furnishings than in the living area of the house. The house is in dire need of new carpet and living and dining furniture. All the living furniture is both dated and very worn. Leather tired and cracked and dirty, coffee table had a tile top and most all the tiles were cracked. The dining table was worn and ringed. We were happy we brought a table cloth to cover this up. We were paying top dollar to be in Sea Ranch for Xmas so this was all very disappointing. We had issues with getting lighting to work in the kitchen. It was really a dark hole until my handy husband got the undercabinet lights to work. We were never able to get any bathroom plugs to work and were unable to find the fuse box--we think it was in a locked area. These are things that should be checked by management company prior to check in. Due to Covid they will not come out once you have checked in. We made do. We had a nice time because that was our mind set. Window seats were nice and cushions new as were all the throw pillows. The view is lovely--and as photographed. The layout of the house worked well for our family. We were surprised that the living area was small given the size of the house. Lots of space put into bedrooms. We were paying double the average rate due to Xmas so must say we felt a bit ripped off. It was nice to have the dog and he had no issues with the place! The deck is completely closed off so he couldn't run off. They grazed the grass eating sheep around the property while we were there and it was fun to watch and see all the baby lambs. The place was just OK. Glad it was clean. View and location is great.
This house has a beautiful view, is FULL of light, and very warm and cozy. The sunsets and weather were amazing Thanksgiving week! We rented two houses for my family traveling from Wisconsin and San Francisco. This house had the preferred layout and was the gathering spot for dinner. The kitchen was a little tight for preparing Thanksgiving dinner, but we made it work! We had everything we needed as far as cooking utensils, pots/pans and a nice big oven for 2 turkeys! The house was very clean and tidy. I have rented MANY houses at The Sea Ranch over the years (my parents live there full time) and this is one of my favorites. Management was quick to respond when the given keys were not working and we were locked out. I hope to return to this house soon!
Overall place was great but the Master Bedroom shower is not working and we all had to share the second bathroom for showers. One of main reasons booking this place was to be able to have each couple have their own facilities. No discount or explanation was offered. Also, although advertised with a BBQ there was not one to be found. Had we known we would have planned and shopped for meals differently. Having said that, great location and pretty area.
I gave the check-in process three stars because after driving to Gualala to get the keys and back to Sea Ranch to the house, the keys to the house didn't work. The issue was remedied fairly quickly after a couple of calls to the office and a 30 minutes wait for the local representative to arrive with new keys to let us in. She was very nice and returned a second time with keys that worked on both locks. The property was clean and in a beautiful location. The views from the home were wonderful, the beds very comfortable, and the kitchen amply supplied. The only issue, which was significant for us, but will be corrected later in the month (the note informed us) was that the only walk-in shower was inoperable. As a result, my 83-year old mother, who we'd brought for her first vacation in years, was unable to shower or bathe at all during our stay. She could not step over the higher tub wall in the other bathroom, so could only sponge off. We didn't learn of this problem until we arrived. I tried to raise it when we first learned of the issue, but was told I'd have to talk to a manager. I left a message, but never got a return call. This will likely not be a problem for anyone else and the home is very nice. It was just a shame that no one in management considered the impact to us when the only accessible shower was not useable.
