Stayed Jun 29, 2022My Husband and I finished off our southern Italy trip at Giampaolo’s beautiful home in Martina Franca. We were blown away by the beauty of the town and the his home (after a lot of travel in Italy Martina Franca is at the top of my list now for most beautiful Italian cities). The house is located on a gorgeous windy road and was extremely walkable to the main Piazza. The town was lively and full of locals which we loved. Giampaolo was extremely gracious. He was very communicative and helpful, he even booked us an incredible dinner down the road at I Templari. The meal was delicious and the staff was extremely friendly and warm. We will be back!! Thank you Giampaolo.

Stayed Oct 7, 2019We stayed in Relais l'Antico Pozzo for 3 nights in early October, 2019. Driving and parking is restricted in Martina Franca, but we were graciously met outside the city walls close to our apartment, shown where to find free parking, and brought to the apartment personally for check in. The beautiful apartment is newly renovated with all expected modern conveniences, but all the charm of an ancient stone house and secluded private garden courtyard remains intact. Giampaolo was communicative and helpful prior to and throughout our stay, and his assistant who initially met us was close by incase we we had any problems (we didn't). Besides the well-appointed kitchen and the generous welcome basket with local specialties and wine, we were also given daily vouchers for breakfast pastry and espresso from a cafe at the near end of the central piazza. Unique to any apartment we have rented in European cities, Giampaolo's place has a separate building just three steps across the private courtyard that contains a living room/lounge/game room on the ground floor and a jacuzzi room with shower, below. Soaking in a warm jacuzzi in an atmospheric ancient stone underground room sipping drinks and playing your favorite soft music was a wonderful retreat after a day of wandering the streets of Martina Franca, or short trips to nearby Locorotondo (well worth a day trip), and Cisternino. The location was Perfect: Inside the Centro Storico, yet close to a city gate, with nearby free and paid parking and an easy walk to anywhere you might want to go in the city. In our case, check out was as easy as a phone call, then leaving the keys on the table at the agreed-upon departure time. I would recommend this apartment to anyone* considering a stay in Martina Franca. You will love them both. *What ever your age or fitness level, be aware that the stairs into the apartment and down to the jacuzzi, though not numerous, are steeper than modern standards.
